Critic Reviews for Victoria Season 3

The 40-year-old me was less enthralled, although Jenna Coleman's performance as Victoria remained an admirably adept balancing act of poise and passion, and perhaps a shade more Not Amused than previously.

[It] was a full-blown costume spectacle, interwoven with romantic and political intrigues.

In fact, it can be quite fun if you play Spot the Historical Inaccuracy.

It's surprisingly addictive, though the CGI budget could do with an upgrade, because the wishy-washy artists' impressions of the London skyline are mystifyingly inept.

Coleman and Tom Hughes are perfectly cast as the royal couple and there's good fun in the addition of Lord Palmerston... But best of all is how it makes history feel like it's happening now.

Kate Fleetwood plays Victoria's sister, Feodora, and that affords lighthearted sibling snideness as Feodora bitched about Victoria's short height. But this new series is mostly as you were.

Victoria, then, is just another excuse for a sumptuous costume drama, soporific viewing for a Sunday night that you don't have to pay much attention to, as you finish off the red wine and ponder the week ahead.

Mar 25, 2019 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…

Victoria is at its light, good-looking, Sunday evening best when you can sit back and enjoy the soapy ride. It is easier not to have all the facts, or at least to ignore them, for an escapist hour or so.

The recipe is so familiar that it feels inevitable. Daisy Goodwin's drama is comfort food. It is a well-presented pudding, a MasterChef dessert.

Victoria is accessible history in easy digestible, comic form.

best season yet the way they handled Bernies disabiltys was perfect and the young actor who plays him was clearly the right choice

The early life of Queen Victoria, from her ascension to the throne at the tender age of 18 to her courtship and marriage to Prince Albert.Jenna Coleman is always amazing. Tom Hughes as Prince Albert is excellent as well . What's more entertaining than being transported back into history . A Masterpiece production well at home in PBS .

Season 3 of Victoria has come to an end and it couldn't have been more interesting with the presence of powerful supporting performances such as Laurence Fox's jaunty and proud Lord Palmerston and Kate Fleetwood's cunning and scheming Feodore, Princess of Leiningen. It's a shame it is so underrated and not as successful as The Crown because it is really captivating and evidence that the formula "Royals+Drama+Politics+Actual Events" is a recipe for success. The Chartists, the cholera outbreak, the Great Famine and, of course, the famous Great Exhibition of 1851 were the definite highlights.Amazing job!

A little less entertaining than last season but still a good watch for those interested in Queen Victoria

    Excellent writing and performances!

Too inaccurate regarding historical figures. Too much drama.
