The series was good but Jared Padalecki who plays Walker is a really, really bad actor.

Ignoring the original, it's a strange show. From the start, I don't know anything about his background. Didn't know anything about his wife so felt nothing with her role in the first episode. Cordell seemed overprotective yet instead of following up on her phone call or doing anything productive, just gave up and cried next to his truck. For a "decorated lawman," he starts off looking like a failure of a husband. Then he apparently goes undercover right away and fails his kids. Comes back from that assignment and fails to see his family. Winds up getting picked up by other law enforcement in the midst of committing a crime and gets preferential treatment. Sure, yeah, his wife's situation but he should be on leave until he gets his act together. On one hand his new partner that gave him the preferential treatment preaches at him to follow the rules and "have her back," but right away she and his friend/boss hardly address him using excessive force on a visible minority. Again, yeah, his wife but seriously, he shouldn't be on duty and should have been roasted in the media for what he did. So much for his partner and friend/boss taking the moral high-ground. Meanwhile his one kid is rebelling (again, go on leave and sort your personal life out), and he's then openly willing to use his brother's position to pull strings for new acquaintances. Just seems the show is primarily a family drama showcasing a failed cop and his morally dubious failings. I guess that's pretty fitting in today's day and age given the stereotypes of modern day male cops. I'm just not sure why I'd want to watch it. Definitely seems like it's geared to being the complete opposite of its namesake, in which case it's spot on. Instead of the Texas Rangers looking like an agency worthy of distinction, they look like an agency that turns a blind eye to the moral failings and corruption of their own. Not my cup of tea.

Me and my wife have watched every season it seems to get worse on season 3 confusing my cast join the show leave the show the writers are awful The acting is great but the writers need never to get a raise if they wrote the show a horrible We kept hoping that was going to get better to a show that grows into itself but nope it's just bad and hard to watch

      • Jun 23, 2023

The show was ok. I really didn't like how the writers made Cordell Walker so dumb down. Texas Rangers are elite, but they made him as a Ranger look foolish.

      • Apr 05, 2023

I want to like this show more. I love the cast. But I'd like to see real story lines where there's crimes to solve and justice for breaking the law that DOESN'T involve the entire family CONSTANTLY being the center of threats and kidnappings and suspicions of being criminals themselves... Come on now. This show could be amazing if the family could stop being targets. Give the characters a story line where they are real people with real problems and let the rangers solve non-personal crimes.

I only could make it to the start of the second episode and I don't know why they picked this name for the show or main character. I was looking for a better series but I am very disappointed didn't the writers know about the first show. It might be a ok show change the name though

      • Feb 17, 2023

I tuned in to watch Jared Padalecki who I love. Unfortunately halfway through the second season, actually after the first episode of walker: independence aired, decided we just can't watch it. We kept watching for him but it's boring, the plot is exceedingly boring, the teenagers started out being so goodie goodie they were completely unbelievable as teens. The rebellion arc was insanely forced and boring, one day they are perfect and the next trying way too hard to be "bad" every single thing every character does to create drama is pointless. The worst part? It's actually made me like Jared Padalecki less. I feel sad for him honestly it seems like his heart is just not in it at all.

      • Nov 21, 2022

At times it was fun and enjoyable, but then the writing got crazy lazy creating nonsense like an accidental fire can be a murder and a latent can be a murder weapon. Yeah I'll dodge any further seasons for now on.

      • Nov 05, 2022

The show would be better if Walker every season wasn't going through personal issues. Make it more like the original kicking butt and taking names. Also why do the writers make his daughter appear to be so ignorant, spoiled, and make one not pull for her.

      • Oct 28, 2022

What in the world were they thinking, poor choices made overall from the actor's to the writing the plot and so on.... I'm extremely surprised this continued after the first episode....
