News & Interviews for WandaVision: Season 1
WandaVision's commitment to confounding expectations might offer something few franchises as hoary as this one ever do - a fresh, surprising way in.
WandVision works best precisely because it is unlike anything the MCU's model has ever produced before.
Once WandaVision starts recycling the same content in each episode, it becomes difficult to ignore that the show's primary interest is playing with form rather than propelling its story forward.
No matter how much people claim "WandaVision" is like nothing the company has done before, for better or worse, it's more of the same.
Whatever it is, "WandaVision" is the weirdest entry yet into the MCU, and a significant artistic step forward in its storytelling.
I certainly look forward to finding out what direction the show takes. But it's clearly going to take some time getting there.
WandaVision launches a potential new "forever" paradigm in entertainment. Disney and Feige are creating something that is brand new, even if they are using nostalgia.
Altho the TV takeoffs are satires of satires, forces are infiltrating the scene, & all will want to see what happens next. The joy of the MCU is this type of uber-creativity.
Part of WandaVision's strength is that it would work just fine as an absolutely straight-up sitcom.
One does not, in this case, invoke either the specter [of David Lynch] lightly... Obviously, that doesn't mean that WandaVision is somehow 'MarvelHolland Drive' - but it also doesn't not mean that.
As the show goes on and starts coming into focus, maybe it'll hit the vibe of that twisted Twilight Zone reality I think they might be going for here. But for my money, I think they should have hit that in the first couple episodes.
Audience Reviews for WandaVision: Season 1
2h agoIt's boring. A really well made and extremely boring TV show. I'll keep watching in the hopes that some direction change might surprise me.
3h agoThe first episode was mainly a drag and very boring. I noticed in both episodes the last few minutes of them were the best parts in the episode. 2nd episode was quite a bit better and you can get more of direction for the show. Even saying that at times still hard to feel engaged. Hope it gets better but far just not feel it. Kind of nitpicky but weird that the episodes are about 28 minutes but have 7 minute credits so it's like a 20 minute epsiode.
4h agoI grew up watching these kinds of shows woth my parents so I get it and appreciate it. If you are looking for a traditional action movie this is not it. Watching previews I knew what I was in for. To each their own. Me and my kids loved it.
4h agoWanda Vision is absolutely horrific. Boring. Don't waste your time. If you want to watch a sitcom, "Married with children" is more entertaining. "Home Improvement" is more entertaining. What a disappointment. My kid rather do his homework than watch this show. 🤣 Not cool Disney, hurry up with Falcon and Winter Soldier. Watching this made me glad Thanos ripped the stone out his head.
7h agoLove the mystery behind it
7h agoTwo episodes in, it's definitely a slow burn. But there's enough weirdness going on to make me want to know what's going on behind the scenes. Can't wait to see where it heads.
7h agoPudo ser mejor. Espero que mejore
9h agoGreat, Unexpected, original.
9h agoI'm probably going to catch all sorts of grief for this review, but it's MY opinion and nothing else. First off, I've only seen episodes 1 and 2 at this point. After watching them, it left me with the thought, "WHAT the hell was that?" It was one of the most unenjoyable pieces of television that I've ever seen. Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know...it's LEADING to something bigger. That's all well and good, but the 2 episodes were silly and really left me disappointed in the Marvel minds who chose to create them. I could have stood ONE episode where we "meet the neighbors" and get to understand the unusual reality Wanda and Vision are in...or is it just a dream...or perhaps Thanos just having a little fun with the reality stone before Thor separated his head from the rest of his body in Endgame. Frankly, I thought the first 2 episodes of WandaVision ranked below Ang Lee's Hulk movie (which is one of the worst pieces of film ever made...again...in my opinion). I'm not telling you or anyone else NOT to watch WandaVision. I'm just telling anyone who's reading this, that, as a LONG-time collector of Marvel books and one who has watched every Marvel movie and TV series, this one's a stinker...so far. I'll give it a couple more episodes, but right now...I'm very disappointed in what I've seen. I hope it gets better...soon. I'll be glad to eat crow and re-review it if it suddenly gets better.
10h agoIt's just not my cup of tea. I understand the premise and I will continue to watch because it will be connected to the next Doctor Strange movie. But, it's a bit too goofy for a normally serious franchise. Perhaps releasing all of the eps at once would have made more sense. The sitcom style is just bizarre for this millennial and not something I'm enjoying, even during a pandemic where escapism is a plus. It'll pass the time until Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
