WandaVision: Season 1 (2021)

Season 1
WandaVision

Critics Consensus

Part loving homage to TV history, part off-kilter mystery, WandaVision is a wonderfully weird and strikingly bold step into the small screen for the MCU - and a perfect showcase for Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.

It's unlikely that this show, with this focus, could ever have been successful without Elizabeth Olsen's indelible central performance.

I've had fun with it, and I like going with it along the way, rather than rushing through it all at once...worth watching...

Mar 1, 2021 | Full Review…

She's not the first superhero to be affected acutely by emotional pain; everyone knows that quote about great power and great responsibility. Yet for an MCU project, the choice to focus on Wanda's inner life is revolutionary.

Jan 19, 2021 | Full Review…

WandaVision's commitment to confounding expectations might offer something few franchises as hoary as this one ever do - a fresh, surprising way in.

Jan 15, 2021 | Full Review…

WandVision works best precisely because it is unlike anything the MCU's model has ever produced before.

Jan 14, 2021 | Full Review…

Once WandaVision starts recycling the same content in each episode, it becomes difficult to ignore that the show's primary interest is playing with form rather than propelling its story forward.

Jan 14, 2021 | Full Review…

At some point, I'll likely take in "WandaVision" in a single sitting to see how it holds up, but it's fair to call it the best six-hour film of the year.

A game of duplicity... without abandoning the superhero genre. [Full review in Spanish]

The action, emotions, and drama all make this a must-see show, and Wandavision has rightfully been praised for its strong themes related to grief, love, and family.

A Marvel Studios' masterstroke consumed by fandom's hype.

Despite its laugh tracks and various winks and nods, the Marvel superhero series is lacking in its homage to iconic television.

Marvel and Disney raise the bar for the mini-series VOD world. By far the best thing I have ever seen on an episodic series. Even if it rips my heart out once again.

What a missed opportunity. Many. Especially with QuickSilver. I love the Scarlet Witch and was a HUGE Avengers fan when I was young. This show was just a let down all over. I'm also tired of people who touch 1 infinity stone were made nearly as powerful as the guy wearing all 5. Woke TV at its worst. Monica Rambeau was made a token vs the cool character written in the book. She also was SUPER annoying as a character. Also, you can torture a town... then get told "they will never know what you gave up"... OH POOR SCARLET WITCH!!! No wonder Iron Man wanted them all registered.

WandaVision blends Marvel's signature style with classic sitcoms of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. The mystery each week was a little cruel on Disney's part but the mystery created countless theories that were pretty crazy and sometimes funny

It had an amazing start, really could've gone to somewhere bigger, and had an expected but breathtaking twist

I was really grabbed by this show. It was wonderful to see Wanda and Vision both on screen again, I thought they had wonderful chemistry and were woefully underused in the movies. The series did have some muddled storytelling and some of the acting wasn't great, mostly from the supporting characters and the ending left a bit to be desired, but overall I think this one was above par. It really did explore the human condition with how it relates to both grief and how that grief could play out if someone were inhumanly powerful beyond belief. Reminds me of some books I've read as well. I though the story telling was well done and well paced and this show didn't overstay it's welcome. The last episode had a couple of baffling moments, but I thought was handled decently enough. It can be hard for anyone to close out a story and make everyone like the ending, so I'll cut some slack here. Most importantly, it entertained me and didn't preach current culture at me, which other MCU properties seem to want to do, so for that alone, I give it a star.

This show is unlike anything else in the MCU.

It starting really good and at the end, we got some kind of message that torture 3k+ people is somehow justifiable if you are sad...

I really wanted to like this one. I saw that they were reworking the plot of House of M from the comics but the conclusion was not what i wanted. I thought they had a ton of missed opportunities but made poor directions in the writing like always.

The show started off great. Unique, original in a way that is paid tribute to old era tv sitcoms. It was incredibly entertaining to see the old classics recreated. I was thoroughly enjoying the show until the last two episodes where the series drove itself into the ground. Making ever story telling mistake. I literally turned off the last episode it was so unbearably bad.
