What to Know

Critics Consensus

Emmanuel Lewis is an immediately winning star, but Webster squanders his charms on a contrived and derivative premise that reinforces questionable social themes.

Webster the show, like Webster the killer tot, seems very much a lost child looking for a home, or at least a good script. Go to Full Review

The story is very, very warm. You could die from the cuteness. Its like being suffocated in whipped cream. Webster is so rich you can have a gall bladder attack from it. Go to Full Review

Karras, who was a linebacker for the Detroit Lions, is a stiff, self-conscious, utterly boring actor. His limitations are particularly glaring in this role that calls for a suave comedic style. Go to Full Review

If you think Arnold on Diff'rent Strokes is cute, wait'll you see Emmanuel Lewis in this series' title role. When it comes to cuddliness, this kid makes Gary Coleman look like Howard Cosell. Go to Full Review

In addition to -- and probably because of -- the weak script, Webster has a laugh track that just won't quit. Bad joke, polite chuckle. Awful joke, loud laughter. No joke, absolute hysterics. Go to Full Review

The decisions that went into producing Webster represent the type of shallow, insensitive, and often callous thinking that too often goes into the production of TV series. Go to Full Review
