Critics Consensus

Wednesday isn't exactly full of woe for viewers, but without Jenna Ortega in the lead, this Addams Family-adjacent series might as well be another CW drama.

I had no expectations when we started this series. I didn't even hear about it until we stumbled upon it, and I'm very glad we did. My entire family loved this show, and we had it a nightly watch until we finished it. We are definitely hoping to see a season 2.

Very surprised at how much we enjoyed this.

People disliking this show for Homero or in general it not being exactly like the old adaptation is plainly stupid. Even Christina Ricci said she knew this was a completely different Wednesday, as we had never seen so much about her, and not at her teen years. Jenna Ortega was an amazing actress in this show, and the other actors, while some holding little experience under their belt, also delivered an amazing show. Having Tim Burton as director is an plus that shows throughout the series. Lastly, the plot was really good, people dislike plots for having some clichés or things they've seen before, when what you should be grading is how well things were executed and laid out, and this show managed to pull that of extremely well.

The show definitely follows the Tim Burton Trope, and a lot of great actors were included. Minimal culture war type stuff, but still present. My biggest gripe is that it is a bit too far away from the original concept. Wednesday was never a crybaby in the originals (show and movies). They were always ironically ok with death too, and the show Wednesday makes a big deal of it. Its also kind of like if the worst of Harry Potter wed the worst of Twilight, Wednesday would be the end result. The Tim Burton style was really the only thing that made it watchable.

Well written, bringing back some well loved characters. Casting was fantastic

Amazing cast and writing, absolutely entertaining and addictive! I can't wait for future seasons.

It's a really good show, Netflix should make more of this kind.

Woooooke. Somehow Wednesday managed not to be bad as the rest. I can't relate to that thing you called Homero . Just a looser nothing to do with the dark elegance , humor, charisma and darkness the others had, even the romanticism was awkward I almost feel sorry for Katherine, no chemistry at all between the two of them. He could not be in those shoes at all. When Wednesday told them they were making her nauseous I agreed. Besides...they were white Latins and you are against us, so I won't watch any movie changing to fit your racism against our race.

who else is half-latina, pale, has black hair, and doesn't trust anyone? ME. Wednesday is me. Thank you for this very specific demographic, Netflix! Also, very pog that you hired a latina to play the role of a character that has been latina since day 1! ^_^

At first I felt like I already knew what was gonna happen to the show, but over and over again I was proven wrong and there were surprises or turn of events that I could not foresee, which is something hard to happen since I watch so much stuff, it is a delight to have a show catch me off-guard. It is all original well thought out content, very good a definitely must watch!
