What to Know

Critics Consensus

Wednesday's second season smartly opens up to include more of the whole Addams clan, backing up Jenna Ortega's lovably heartless teenager with an ookier and spookier ensemble.

It’s all pretty delightful for those of us who are old enough to appreciate not just the referential casting, but also the just-campy-enough performances that Buscemi, Matarazzo, and the rest deliver. Go to Full Review

The lack of a romantic plot for our lugubrious heroine is the biggest change so far between Wednesday Seasons 1 and 2. Hell, it might even be the only major narrative change, and it’s surprisingly refreshing. Go to Full Review

If television is losing eyeballs in the digital era, then Wednesday appears to have cracked the code to retaining them. Go to Full Review

I was half expecting Hannah Montana in goth makeup. As it turns out, I enjoyed these first four episodes. Go to Full Review

Wednesday's second season starts strong but in the end, falls victim to the same overcrowded storytelling that plagued season one, and not in a fun way. Go to Full Review

Beyond the plot twists, the performances elevate the season. Every actor breathes new life into their character, the show widens the spotlight to showcase more than just Wednesday’s perspective. This shift gives the world of Nevermore greater dimension. Go to Full Review

Nik F Jan 2 The show needs to be canceled; it's heading toward nonsense. See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Jan 2 Wednesday season two suffers from many of the same issues as the first, but without the novelty that once carried it. While there are moments that work, much of the season feels flat, padded, and disengaging. The hype surrounding season one has faded, and the loss of momentum is noticeable. A major problem lies in the creative direction. The series expands its cast far too much, shifting focus away from Wednesday herself. While the Addams Family is iconic, this show is titled Wednesday for a reason. Overcrowding the story with new characters weakens its identity. The screenplay struggles to stay focused. There is excessive back-and-forth, uneven pacing, and too many ideas competing for attention. Instead of building depth, the story feels cluttered. Some casting choices also feel off, making it harder to stay invested Season two has highlights, but they’re buried beneath bloated storytelling. It’s watchable, but disappointing, and leaves the series needing clearer direction now yep  See more M S @Mi11ie Dec 29 Bianca was the best part of this season See more Nick N @Niqua Dec 29 What happened?! Season 2 of Wednesday was an immense disappointment. Bigger, louder, dumber... There is no tension, intrigue or substance to draw in the viewer. The characters seem to have lost the key component that made them enjoyable in the first place. Is this the same creative team that made season 1? This season clearly had a bigger budget but everything is just so shallow and rushed. A mere caricature of season 1. I'm only half way through season 2. I'm not sure I'll even finish it. At least we still have season 1 to revisit from time to time. See more TheKallse @SG546 Dec 26 Season 2 is more disappointing. More repetitive storylines, sometimes a bit tedious, but it remains well-crafted from the halfway point onward. The bar is set high for the third season... See more A. C @AlinaC Dec 23 I enjoyed the plot twists. Wednesday's lines are a delight, as usual. See more Read all reviews
