In "Welcome to Wrexham," Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds learn to run the third oldest professional football club in the world. In 2020, Rob and Ryan teamed up to purchase the Red Dragons in the hopes of turning Wrexham AFC into an underdog story the whole world could root for. The worry? Rob and Ryan have no experience in football or working with each other. From Hollywood to Wales, from the pitch to the locker room, the front office to the pub, the docuseries will track Rob and Ryan's crash course in football club ownership and the inextricably connected fates of a team and a town counting on two actors to bring some serious hope and change to a community that could use it.

Critics Consensus

While its marquee stars are plenty welcoming all their own, Wrexham smartly spends its sophomore season focused on the community itself to inspiring effect.

Self-awareness is an important element of documentary filmmaking, but here it also comes across as queasily self-serving. Go to Full Review

The series is best as a culture clash satire and, most of all, as a genuine depiction of the bond between a club approximately 160-years-old and the community that has supported it. Go to Full Review

As celebrity owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bring money and attention to underdog Welsh footballers, they avoid stealing focus on the team’s charming documentary show. Go to Full Review

... Addictive, fun, charming, endearing, and at times even very emotionally engaging. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Reynolds and McElhenney have deliveries that make them instantly funny, perhaps initially bringing eyes to the show. But it is players and the people of Wrexham that have brought the heart. Go to Full Review

See more Tim S @RT58577585 05/01/2024 For an actual football fan the show is too delayed. The show is a year behind and it's a hard watch when that is the case. Show is ok but it's the same every episode other than the results which they post on their socials every week. See more Yuki k @RT51142078 01/28/2024 I was born in Wrexham Maelor Hospital. I've lived in this insignificant town for 43 years and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Now it's known and loved the world over. Words cannot describe. See more matthias s @Thescreenasvor 12/26/2023 "Welcome to Wrexham" Season 2 is a touchdown! ⚽ This season is like an adrenaline shot for any sports enthusiast. It's a rollercoaster ride through the trials and triumphs of a football club, dishing out drama, passion, and a sprinkle of humor along the way. The show's charm lies not just in the wins on the field but also in the camaraderie and struggles behind the scenes. What makes this season stand out is its ability to make you root for the underdogs. You'll find yourself cheering, laughing, and maybe even shedding a tear or two as you witness the team's journey. The storytelling is crisp, the characters are endearing, and the emotions are palpable. Though a tad predictable at times, the unpredictability of real-life situations keeps you hooked. Whether you're a die-hard football fan or just a casual viewer, "Welcome to Wrexham" Season 2 kicks off a delightful, binge-worthy experience that scores big points for entertainment! See more Sheena P @RT32871280 12/11/2023 I liked that a lot. I didn't know this kind of good was happening on this side of the world. The storytelling was amazing too, involving the different champions in different fields in the town. See more Read all reviews
