Overly reliant on the chaotic comic vibe of star Celeste Barber, this eight-part Australian comedy about a misfit’s collision with the wellness industry doesn’t take the opportunities it hints at. Go to Full Review

“Wellmania” is not the first of its kind, and it surely is not the best of its kind, but it is definitely worth a watch. Go to Full Review

For anyone who's lost themselves in feigned confidence and Bacchanalian excess while processing (or not) grief, Wellmania strikes an unexpectedly poignant chord. Go to Full Review

And it's here that Wellmania really shines, delicately illuminating the connection between outer drama that's generated to distract a character from inner toil. Go to Full Review

Joe P @RT80994460 06/24/2024 I was hoping for some comedy, but instead just found a really drawn out bore fest. The story was thin, the acting was mediocre at best, and the forced comedy was often overshadowed by how unlikeable and narcissistic the lead character was. I finished it for some closure. If you want good Aussie comedy then I'd advise Fisk or something that actually manages to marry awkward humanity and abstract comedy. See more Michael Antony A @RT48850580 12/31/2023 Mikey's TV Review: Wellmania (2023) While this 8 episode series might occasionally come across like an Australian take on Miranda mashed with Fleabag (add a touch of AbFab), Celeste Barber's delightfully chaotic comic timing gives the show it's own unique flair. The ensemble cast are all solid if given very little to do (they're often simply foils for Barber's Liz' barbed one-liners and spectacular pratfalls. Although J.J Fong (as bored housewife/ health obsessed best friend Amy) and Lachlan Buchanan (as brother Gaz - a fitness trainer worried about marrying his boyfriend) do fare better in later episodes with some quite touching scenes. It's hardly an original concept (ambitious, fast living 40 something tries to change her life around in a few weeks in order to get a Greencard), but when a show is this well written and acted it certainly deserves a second season. If only to see how far the show can push it's characters and taste… Mikey‘s TV Rating: 4/5* See more Donna M @DonnaM 08/01/2023 No laughs. Forced my way to Episode 6 and gave up. Gets slower and more boring as the series progresses. Don't waste your time. See more D L @DaturaDreamer 07/26/2023 Entertaining but main character is an annoying narcissist so makes it hard to really love this one. See more Ravenswood R @RT16435246 04/22/2023 Not funny. Main character is obnoxious and unlikable and behaves somewhat hideously. Story is thin and hinges on this person's narcissistic behavior and the inexplicably nice treatment she receives from others. Halfway through episode three boredom and "who cares?" took over and I bailed out. If I had laughed once or twice or a story was starting to develop, or I began to sympathize with anyone in this show I might have stuck around. See more Jarrod N @RT31584139 04/21/2023 I must admit I questioned whether I should continue watching after the first episode. But, I am glad I stuck it out - I really enjoyed the comedy mixed with heavy story lines that it dealt with. I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste, but I really enjoyed it. I hope there is a season 2!! See more Read all reviews
