As a show filled with mysteries and sudden twists and beautiful scenery, Westworld appears highly successful. But as a show exploring deeper issues, so far, it's a failure, which is disappointing because it's also a failure of storytelling.

It is quicker than before. It is thrilling to watch and easier to adjust to. Every episode has its own mini-cliffhanger, which is a plus.

Yes, Westworld expertly evokes a sense of bleak alienation. But you can get that from Coronation Street: and at least you'll know what's going on.

A lack of comedy might not seem like the biggest issue with Westworld right now. Season 2's storytelling was haphazard and incoherent. Some of the most basic questions were either empty or never answered.
