Tv Season Info

The first season introduces slick con man Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer), recently escaped from a maximum-security prison, and FBI agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay), the man who put Neal behind bars after a lengthy cat-and-mouse game. After being apprehended again, Neal suggests a partnership with Peter in which he'll help the agent solve white-collar crimes, an arrangement that keeps Neal out of jail and provides the premise for the series. Tiffani Thiessen and Willie Garson also star.

White Collar is actually one of the best new shows of the season. The tone is effortless and agile, as it toggles from comedy to intrigue and back.

I didn't leave the White Collar pilot with any great investment in the show, but with an amiable willingness to watch again.

In terms of the pilot episode and the potential this series has from the start, White Collar is exciting, intelligent, humorous and all around good TV.

If you like a good con artist yarn, enjoy the tone of USA Network's other original programs and can suspend your disbelief a little, you'll really enjoy White Collar.

Clever casting, fast-paced editing, and icy sharp writing haul the show from the doldrums of predictability.

Oct 23, 2009 | Rating: 8/10 | Full Review…

Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay's entertaining double act as the suave con-man and straight-laced Fed is the backbone to the show's success, but credit is also due to its stylish look. An enjoyable mash-up of Remington Steele and CSI.

So far so familiar. But buried in the premise is a crisp script and Dragnet-with-humor repartee between the two winning leads, backed up by an excellent support cast.

Dec 13, 2016 | Full Review…

The chemistry between Bomer and DeKay is strong, and playing Burke's dogged sense of fairness against Caffrey's "you take what you can get" attitude gives White Collar some amusing tension and just the barest hint of a theme.

The brisk pace and easygoing chemistry between White Collar's stars, Matt Bomer and Tim DeKay, is something that can't be faked for very long. These guys just seem to work well together.

A charming show, well written and cast just as well, loses a little bit of momentum in the last couple seasons, but what show doesn't have a few bad episodes? The story is handled well and Matt Bomer kills it with his portrayal of Neil Caffrey, must see TV!

Take Burn Notice, change the agency from the CIA to the FBI, change a burned agent to a convicted felon released to work with the FBI, and you've got White Collar. The plots are interesting, the good characters are likeable, and heck, some of the criminals are likeable also. I enjoy this series almost as much as Burn Notice.

Smarter than your average con show, Bomer and Dekay really own their roles and the two stars share palpable chemistry. Each episode has charm and good energy, and I'm excited to see where the following seasons go.
