If you are reading this, I advise you not to watch this show.

While it may not be Citizen Kane it is definitely worth a watch. I have so many great memories tied to the original movie and this show brought them all flooding back. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and it's a shame it was canceled.

One of the most immediately engaging and fun fantasy shows I've seen in quite some time. So frustrating that so few got to see it. I really hope it comes back at a home that gives it the time to find it's audience. It was wonderful.

Willow as a show is a fun ride with beautiful cinematography and aesthetics, a hero's journey of many heros which are diverse in every way possible portrayed by a dedicated cast, a story that doesnt always take itself too serious but has has these moments too, a high fantasy that woreships the fantasy films oft he past but doesn't wallow in it but is also new wand fresh, for a younger audience…and an older audience that is more open to new things. And to rediscover old things we forgot were a thing. Such as this: It's the prince who needs tob e rescued, not a damsel in distress. Or the princess which doesn't revert to conventional habits of being the perfect bride by the end but a brave warrior who, well, isnt interested in marrying a guy because, she actually likes girls herself. Or the seemingly lethargic and a incapable prince who has a braver heart and intellect than one thinks at first. The friendship of two girls that are having their fights and do not really appreciate each other but comradery and female solidarity helps them to overcome their differences with each step. And yes, the stereotypes that are broken over time by revealing that characters are more than what they seem to be isn't exactly new, in fact it is very common and Willow is not revolutionary in that regard. What is different is that the show subverts the standard archetypes in certain points and gives space for those you do not usually see in fantasy – diversity is an non-issue in Willow. It is normalized. It IS the standard and doesn't say it. If you don't bother being challenged by representation, if you welcome it or at least don't mind that it is there, if you are looking for high fantasy with some fantastic visuals, with knights and swords, with monsters and wizards, magic and humor, interesting characters and good acting, a story and writing that is sometimes not your usual cumbersome pseudo historic fiction but is more in the direction of movies like "A knight's tale", chooses to be silly at times, then Willow might be for you. Yes, sometimes it has it's moments that make you blink a bit, in which you are seemingly not following a fantasy "as it should be" or better as you have been tought it should look like. But who says that fantasy has to be like your regular Tolkienesque or Dungeons & Dragons setting? A pseudo European medieval fantasy setting. (And to be fair, even D&D has Elements that feel displaced, more steampunk or scifi. There are films like Krull that also don't fit the expected aesthetics for example – it is fantasy nonetheless. You miss the "Glaive" from Krull? Wait for the Kymerian cuirass in Willow. And yes, certain aspects feel a bit as if they do not belong in a high fantasy setting. And denim is older than you think. If that is your issue. (yes some characters do wear it) Or is it the song choice? I am not saying that I agree with everything specific choice but in general? It is like watching people from the Middle Ages singing "We will rock you" in "A knight's tale" or looking at the stormtrooper optics of the knights from "Krull". If you are open minded and just let yourself been abducted into a good show that pulls you in from the very first moment, then Willow might be for you. It is a fun adventure at the very least, a feel good show unlike many others that take themselves way to serious, a show that has it's nuances and hidden details that, if you look at them more closely, show that this universe is much richer and deeper than it appears at first.

This show means so much to the LGBTQ+ community and I'm so sad to see it taken away so soon. Finally seeing a lesbian princess on Disney+ meant so much, especially considering the cast was amazing. I really can't believe it has been removed from the streaming service completely.

A refreshing take on fantasy tropes - A fun, funny and charming continuation of the movie which built upon what was established already and take it to new heights. The new cast is THE ice on the cake for me - Their dynamic and chemistry between all of them is truly *chef's kiss* Their camaradie is really palpable. The cinematography is to die for - One of the most beautiful scenery and mise-en-scène I have ever seen in a tv-show. You really feel those grandiose cinematic expressions with each episode. Love how they linked the movie with the series - there's all kind of very interesting take with all of the connected threads and symbolism. It's a show that doesn't take itself too seriously but it's full of heart and passion for its stories and characters AND it's gets better and better with each episode (the 7th : "Beyond the Shattered Sea" is one of THE highlights of the Season across all departments). If you like and feel kind of nostalgic of those 90's fantasy shows such as "Xena : Warrior Princess" and the like or just want to go on a fun and genuinely emotional, at times, grand Adventure - you're in for a real Treat. And, just for me, they managed to heal my inner child with some characters and relationship ;) *hand on heart*

Willow is the best fantasy show I've seen. It has the perfect balance of fun and angst and I can't stop thinking about it. The series is a love letter to the original film, and also a really well done continuation of the story in the age of mindless remakes and "sequels" that are basically remakes. The show also did a wonderful job with the queer romance and I'm impressed that the show let the lesbians have a happily-for-now at the end of the first season. I'm incredibly dissapointed that Disney has taken away the full 3 season arc we were promised but hopefully one day we will see our questies return for the final 2 seasons.
