Chris M @RT39528475 10/08/2020 Word party is an American, English language TV show that introduces toddlers to common words and concepts that they might struggle with in developing their first language. My 2 year old son has been watching Word Party since he was an infant, and he absolutely loves it. The first three seasons were entertaining and educational for him. The fourth season felt off. This is mostly due to the introduction of a second language; Mandarin Chinese. The purpose of the show has been to help very young children develop basic English. Juggling between two languages has proven confusing. Given the age and geographic position of the target audience, I can't for the life of me understand why the show runners would choose to introduce Mandarin Chinese words instead of the infinitely more useful (again, given the target audience) Spanish. In my opinion, they should have avoided a second language entirely, but the decision to incorporate Mandarin makes no logical or practical sense. I'm certainly not going to discourage my kid from watching this show if he still enjoys it, but my opinion of it has taken a huge hit, and I'll be passing it over in the future for better alternatives. See more 03/01/2020 Why why why did they do this?!? I love the idea of adding a new character but why ruin the entire flow of the show by adding an additional language? And of all the languages to add... why Mandarin?! Why not the 2nd most common language in the US... Spanish? I can't stand this show now. The first three seasons were great, educational, and one of my top choices for my girl. See more 01/22/2020 Voices have changed and they are now teaching Mandarin Chinese words for some unknown reason. Kids aren't getting as much from it now. See more Read all reviews
