Wrestlers really highlights the fact that often what you don't see in the ring is actually the most interesting and most important part of this industry. As a lifelong fan of professional wrestling this felt like a love letter to the passion, dedication and hard work of those that bring this incredibly dividing form of entertainment to our screens, whilst highlighting the struggles, relationships and in some cases very real demons that these often remarkable people face. Even people not interested in Wrestling will love it because it focuses not on technicalities but on human stories. You have everything in there: the talented and young rebellious girl, the old school guy with a heart of gold, the ambitious and at the same time humbled workaholic athlete, the self-destructive man trying to focus his life, the corporate type guy that only sees money and over all of then, Al Snow, a retired star of WWE, now focusing on creating new opportunities for his crew and trying to maintain this "little engine that could" afloat. See more Dan R @RT53832531 Sep 16, 2023 'Wrestlers' is the brilliant behind the scenes look at OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling) which has just dropped onto Netflix. SYNOPSIS: 'The Ohio Valley Wrestling in Louisville, Kentucky, use to be a glorious grad school for young wrestlers with hopes of a shot at a career in professional wrestling, yet things aren't like they used to be.' 'Wrestlers' is quite frankly some of the best documentary based TV I've ever seen, and a must see if you're a wrestling fan. I always worry about these types of shows whether situations are manufactured for TV, but this feels real though maybe a bit sanitised in places. The human drama is expertly put in front of us on our screens, it builds characters (better than some wrestling promotions), and I found myself genuinely caring about these people. I was emotionally invested in them and OVW, and that was something I did but expect from this show. I was never a fan of Al Snow's wrestling gimic but as a promoter and a man I love him to bits. His understanding of wrestling psychology, and the way he wishes to impart that knowledge onto others is a breath of fresh air. Clearly this show was made to bring more eyes onto the OVW product as a whole, but from what I've seen here I've no issue with that at all. Exceptional TV.
