Oscar and Emmy winner Kevin Costner is the marquee attraction of the ensemble cast in this drama series, starring as the patriarch of a powerful, complicated family of ranchers. A sixth-generation homesteader and devoted father, John Dutton controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. He operates in a corrupt world where politicians are compromised by influential oil and lumber corporations and land grabs make developers billions. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect, Dutton's property is in constant conflict with those it borders -- an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America's first national park.

Yellowstone makes significant effort to imbue the tussle over land with the Native American tribe with complexity. No one is “right” in Sheridan’s portrayal of this tension... Go to Full Review

In the end, this was just an okay Yellowstone season, split roughly equally between engaging moments and infuriating idiocy. Go to Full Review

It feels like a contradiction for a show so obsessed with bigness, but in its heart, Yellowstone is a show about the inescapable smallness of feeling aggrieved and besieged. Go to Full Review

I can't lie. I am not a fan of "lives hanging in the balance" cliffhangers. My ideal cliffhanger is more intellectual, giving you something to chew on while you await the show's return. Go to Full Review

It's been a quiet season and, honestly, that's the way I like it: Yellowstone is best when it bathes in a mood, and the mood of this season is of a rattlesnake quietly slithering through the desert. Go to Full Review

Floris K Dec 1 Season 1 was Succession with cows, and I loved it. Season 2 morphed into Godfather with cows, and I loved it more. Season 3... was like they fired the entire writing team, and replaced them with talentless interns. Awesome daughter Beth, easily my favorite character, got turned into a doe-eyed teen-in-love. The depiction of harsh, hard-working ranch life was replaced by a Pollyanna riversite camping trip. The new baddies had me only slightly worried. And the dialogue! Lame, cliche'd, and on-the-nose, no one spoke a single line I believed, or that even interested me. S1E1 pulled me in immediately, I binged S1 and S2 in less than two weeks; but S3 made me cringe through E1 and E2, after which I gave up. What a shame! See more Slick R @SlickReviewer Nov 18 Not sure why S3 got better reviews than S1? It went from Swat-style raids and murders and cover ups to basically just land grab drama and summer camp on the ridge. See more Frans B @FransB Jun 21 Summer adds a fresh new breeze hey? 😜 Still great cinematography, most amazing locations and heaps of wheelin' and dealin'. Whole cast really excels in character. Very well written and directed, still one of the most entertaining and gripping series ever, love it See more Nay N @Sliceoflife Mar 9 It has gotten worse. Boring so boring. Beth is so spoiled and a B. Boohoo poor Beth. Cry me a river. See more Dominic B 01/15/2025 For me the strongest season yet. I like how they added the rodeo scenes: They don't do much for the story but are beautiful to watch. Kelly Reilly gives another power house performance as Beth Dutton. Suspend disbelief, forgive some dodgy plotting and enjoy. 5 stars for pure entertainment. See more Paul 01/12/2025 This series keeps getting better! See more Read all reviews
