Critic Reviews for You, Me and the Apocalypse Series 1

The world is ending. How funny is that? Pretty darn funny, at least as depicted in You, Me and the Apocalypse.

As end-of-the-world tales go, it's watchable, fairly unpredictable and garnished with a palpable subplot that in some ways is more intriguing than whatever the end game might be.

Comedy or drama, stars or non-stars, half-hour or an hour, the show doesn't fit snugly into a preexisting mold, and that's always a plus. So call it whatever you like: It's still good, no matter what.

Quirky, uneven oddball that will appeal to a few. Best to wait for all episodes to stream and go ahead and binge.

There may not have ever been a good show buried in all these misfiring elements, but even so, Hollands has picked a poor way to tell his story.

Jan 28, 2016 | Full Review…

Evil must-see plot on our collective unconscious or not, You, Me and the Apocalypse is a genuine treat.

Jan 27, 2016 | Full Review…

With a show about everyone dying, things either need to be consistently funny so we know it's okay to laugh, or consistently heavy so we know it's okay to panic. Instead, things were as emotional as reading a brochure.

Jan 29, 2016 | Full Review…

Give the series credit, each episode keeps upping the weirdness, comedy and, surprisingly, the dramatic ante. It's unexpectedly good.

Jan 25, 2016 | Full Review…

Iain Hollands' apocalyptic British-American co-production quickly reveals itself to be something really quite sharp and as capable of moving the viewer as it is making them giggle.

Feb 23, 2016 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

Strong characters, scary imagery in great bleak comedy.

Instead, the threat of humanity's doom is what motivates each person to finally begin a new chapter in their lives. The show definitely has promise, and I'm in for the ride.

Feb 1, 2016 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

You, Me and the Apocalypse surprised me at nearly every turn -- the characters shine, the plot is a bottle rocket, the scope is epic, and the tricky balance between quirky visual gags and tragic poignancy is downright masterful.

Loved this show. Really wish they could make a second season it ended with so many questions.
  • Mar 01, 2017
The summary of the show looked kind or corny but gave it a chance because of the ratings and was definitely surprised. Funny and endearing at times I wholeheartedly recommend it.

What the hell were they thinking by not renewing this show!? I'm outraged!
  • Sep 07, 2016
Witty Comedy about the end of the world, and the possible societal reactions to their knowledge of it.
  • Sep 01, 2016
Nooo!! Why is there not a second season. Like Pushing Daisies, we are left with unfinished business because of the decision of some heartless, soulless production executive. Be a dear, now, and give us some bloody closure!
  • Aug 17, 2016
Not finish the first one. Good ironic tone!
  • Jul 12, 2016
Love, love, love this show. I cannot believe they canceled it.

If they had worked on more actual comedic content instead of desperately cramming in every uber-liberal political issue going they might have had a winning show that had many seasons behind it..... instead i felt like i was watching something made by film students at socialism camp. Comedy should be edgy, confrontational and filled with crippling honesty but when you use it as a political tool to push virtually every 'hashtag trendy' agenda it feels contrived and it became tiring. Summary: YES i get it about racism/sexism/transgenderism and gay, black mongolian muslim athiests who want an abortion because of free speech, gun control and the killing of baby seals while the amazon is being cut down....i get all that shit on the news ALL the time. Just try comedy next time!? (See: Everything from Monty Python to Father Ted or I.T. Crowd for doing it right!)

love it! Rob Lowe is the cutest priest I have ever seen and while very funny, also has some interesting things to say about people

This show is pretty strange at times and yet very entertaining I barely remember any slow/dull moments. The Character development is great I love the performances from the cast.
