It remains unclear if the show will fully plumb the ethical and moral depths suggested by that title or whether it will be content just being a gripping melodrama.

Your Honor shoots New Orleans in deep, dark color tones that make the Crescent City pop, but doesn't hide the ugliness.

Stuhlbarg and Davis bring real menace to the densely woven story.

It's too bad the city's dead had to endure dialogue like this. Luckily, you don't.

Despite an evocative setting and an impressive cast, Your Honor is too methodical and dour for its own good. By the time Cranston finally springs into action, it feels like too little too late.

Your Honor is shaping up as one of the most compelling dramas of 2020.

This high-level remake with so many names from television's A-list, both in front of and behind the camera, is further evidence, if any were needed, of the long reach of Israeli television.

Bryan Cranston puts in a typically compelling Bryan Cranston performance. It's really the only thing saving the show from being clichéd and dull.

Once the premise is set up, the 10-episode downward spiral of a good man becomes an accelerating exercise in plot twists in place of story... The verdict is as much misfire as mistrial.

"Your Honor" isn't close to being in the same league as "Breaking Bad." At times, you can't help but roll your eyes at the stupidity of certain main characters. But it's an addictively lurid thriller.

Showtime provided only four of the 10 episodes of "Your Honor" in advance, but each one both impressed and surprised me and made me hungry to see the next.

Not everything I've seen so far feels completely believable... and characters sometimes talk as if they're in a limited television series rather than the streets and rooms of New Orleans.
