Your Honor: Miniseries Reviews

December 15, 2020
It's too bad the city's dead had to endure dialogue like this. Luckily, you don't.
December 15, 2020
Despite an evocative setting and an impressive cast, Your Honor is too methodical and dour for its own good. By the time Cranston finally springs into action, it feels like too little too late.

It's one thing to break bad. But steering into stupid is less forgivable.
December 7, 2020
Once the premise is set up, the 10-episode downward spiral of a good man becomes an accelerating exercise in plot twists in place of story... The verdict is as much misfire as mistrial.
December 7, 2020
After a point, it's hard to see or even imagine that anything original or surprising is waiting for us farther down these tracks regardless of the gripping work Cranston is churning out alongside the fellow acting powerhouses joining him here.
December 7, 2020
The prospect of nine episodes makes things move terribly slow.
December 7, 2020
Your Honor regularly doles out reminders that it doesn't come close to approaching Breaking Bad levels of excellence. It's not fair, but them's the breaks.
December 7, 2020
Dumb premise that threatens to sink promising series.

December 7, 2020
Not everything I've seen so far feels completely believable... and characters sometimes talk as if they're in a limited television series rather than the streets and rooms of New Orleans.
December 7, 2020
It feels like we're wallowing in misery that no one has to go through, and the effect isn't thrilling but dreadful. Perhaps later episodes will find stronger footing, but for now, don't worry about it.

"Your Honor" seems to be written by people who've only heard about human nature and whose understanding of tragic consequences is strictly theoretical.
December 7, 2020
The series struggles to give us an anchor for who or what Michael Desiato's character was before the series' inciting event.
December 7, 2020
The characters feel like stock illustrations in a moral-philosophy seminar hypothetical... The result is an out-of-whack ratio of acting talent to material.
December 6, 2020
Breaking Bad, but worse.
December 4, 2020
Your Honor is guilty of being a major downer.
December 3, 2020
Mired in a sad, blue visual palette, it wallows in cynicism and cruelty, but never provides enough insight to make the cruelty worth it.

December 3, 2020
As Your Honor sprawls further out and into the lives of its many characters, it gets lost in the weeds of its storytelling.
December 3, 2020
During the first two episodes of Your Honor, I was just about riveted... Alas, much of what comes after the forceful opening is a disappointment.
December 3, 2020
Instead of a serious examination of the consequences of covering up a crime, Your Honor is an increasingly convoluted labyrinth of coincidences and contrivances, which begin piling up almost immediately.
November 30, 2020
The story already feels tired at the end of the fourth episode, making the prospect of it having to fill 10 total episodes seem especially daunting, regardless of how good the ensemble is.
