The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
10 years ago via Flixster

Having grown up listening to the brilliant radio version of Lord of the Rings continuously (also starring Ian Holmes), my brother and I waited with anticipation for this film to arrive, several years before it did. They said it could never be transferred to the screen successfully. Peter Jackson proved them wrong. What a magnificent trio of films. Magical and full of suspense (I told Ian McKellen so when I met him!)

Paul Giamatti is so underated. Both funny and moving. See also: American Splendor.

Not all the Germans were Nazis! I watched the full series of this (not the shortened movie) and enjoyed every minute. Truly eye opening.

One of those films which seems to be universally over rated. Ok, it was enjoyable but I've seen better Tarentino i.e. Jacky Brown, Dusk Till Dawn. This one was too amateur-like and trying too hard to be 'cool.'

Disturbing, yet somehow enthralling.
