Hey all. Thanks for checking out this comment. I used to be a regular on here for years but in the past couple, I haven't passed...mainly because I don't review films much anymore. But I thought I'd come back and say hi to some of you that I've talked to in the past and see if you might like to check out my Youtube channel. I know, it horrible to just start spamming peoples comments with links asking them to check things out, but I've just started to pick up doing the things I plan on doing for the rest of my life and would love people to see what I've done so far and receive the views and the comments. My goal is to be an editor and I also love to direct, but thats something I'd do in my own time. Recently I edited a music video with Inception footage which some of you may like (which can be found on the channel) and the only other thing on there at the moment is an old music video I edited back in Film School (Deftones) which is poor quality, but it was fun to make. As time goes on I hope to add more to this channel (I have a documentary I just recently shot which I will hopefully add within a couple of months once edited...and I do have a short film, but its too long for Youtube). Sorry for the long comment but thanks again :)

Nice dude! How did you score that? Do you have any extra openings unaccounted for?

I'm going to see a screening of the Farrely's Bros new film on the 26th in Burbank, it's with Owen Wilson, Jenna Fischer, Christina Applegate etc. I also have an invite to a new rom com with Gael Garcia Bernal and Kate Hudson, allthough that one is in Westlake. I'm going with a buddy but we each can bring another guest, so theres two slots available for both if you are interested in either...we are going to be going to ALOT soon, so I'll let you know especially if we go to any in Irvine area...

kylemydude
Kyle S 3 years ago

Hey! So I have mixed feelings about the film, not sure to give it a 6 or a 7, I guess I'll say a 6 for now. I did enjoy it, allthough some elements were underused (Example: Greta Gerwig).

She was there, along with Ivan Reitman himself! But Portman was fantastic, Kutcher was suprisingly not half-bad, and the supporting players were all great, Ludacris, Kevin Kline, Olivia Thirlby, etc. It seemed odd Cary Elwes was even in the film though, his character didn't have hardly anything to do, and only a few lines. Formulaic, cliche, but a strong cast, and quite a few laughs were delivered.

kylemydude
Kyle S 3 years ago

O allright man. Well, the film doesn't start until 7, just the line starts at 6. But that sucks you have plans. I'll let you know what I think of the film tomorrow night!

Ok, yea let me know anytime you have extra space open for a screening or event I am allways down. I'm going to start going to a bit more aswell.

kylemydude
Kyle S 3 years ago

Hey man, I'm going to a screening tomorrow night at 6 pm in Thousand Oaks of Ivan Reitman's new film. It stars Ashton Kutcher(sigh) Natalie Portman (Win) Greta Gerwig (EPIC WIN) Olivia Thirlby, Cary Elwes(, Kevin Kline, and Lake Bell. Really everyones great except Kutcher lol. It looks like it just MIGHT be Reitman''s return to form. Anyways, the film isn't due til sometime in 2011. I thought I'de invite you and see if you were interested. If you are interested, let me know, and let me know if you want to bring someone else also.

kylemydude
Kyle S 3 years ago

Hahaha, I can't believe you are even going to see it! You BETTER sneak in, help out a good movie! We don't need Step Up 4!

I have never seen it, never heard much about it, just seen the case. I did however just check Rotten Tomatoes. 13% approval rating, I think that answers my question. =P

I just remembered there was a Final Destination 4, I COMPLETELY forgot that film even existed lmao.

Glad to see you liked the Other Guys aswell!

I would gladly watch Step Up 3D before this:

kylemydude
Kyle S 3 years ago

Yea, Besson produces ALOT.

I would love to see Kassovitz come out with another good film also. He was kind of like a one hit wonder, allthough Crimson Rivers was decent.

I see, so really only if more comics are written...

kylemydude
Kyle S 3 years ago

Yea. I like the fact he is helping outher genre film directors get on their feet also.

Wow, that is pretty long.

So, is the film just a single film, no sequel?

kylemydude
Kyle S 3 years ago

Yea, but most of his stuff in production is all producing it seems...

How many hours would you have had to line up for in order to get a good seat? Were there any other screenings?

Ok, I'll just have to pick them all up individually then! What did you think of the last installment?

kylemydude
Kyle S 3 years ago

Nice, sounds interesting...but why has he just started a bunch of writing/producing? He doesn't have anything lined up for directing on imdb...

I looked through all your photos, but wondering if you saw any special screening etc. also. I heard they screened Scott Pilgrim there, and some others as well.

Also, do you know if they have any plans to release a hardcover with all 6 issues of Scott Pilgrim? I have read them(Not the newest) but don't own any...wondering if I should just pick them all up individually or if there is talks of a compilation nice hardcover.

kylemydude
Kyle S 3 years ago

Yea, def. check out both Cube again, and make sure to see Cypher, it is VERY VERY good.

O ok, haha.

Yea, it was cool, we should do it again sometime.

What films have you seen this year at comic-con, what people did you meet, etc? What are some of the highlights from this year? I saw on facebook I think you met Del Toro...what was he there promoting? The don't be afraid of the dark remake with Guy Pearce?

Btw, sorry for the delay in response, been really busy lately...

Zibbs

Work on your delivery

Zibbs

Sorry, typo; you did say "agree"

Regardless of when and how you violently disagree with me, there really is no reason to mention that you "hate" (or dislike) "agreeing" with me unless you would prefer to be DISagreeing with me; which implies that you DON'T like to agree with me.

IN MY OPINION, when someone doesn't "like" to agree with another person, it's because they don't respect the validity of that person's beliefs and/or their credibility.

So, rather than contemplating several assumptions, I'll just ask you:

Why would you hate to agree with me, and why do you think that openly admitting you'd prefer to be disagreeing with me is not disrespectful?

Zibbs

Thank you for acknowledging that you do get hung up on our counter opinions; I know I have my fair share of faults that helps you label me as an "asshole," but it really does bother me sometimes that you don't respect my opinions.

For example, when Neal and I were discussing our opinion of "Observe and Report," as well as traditional film structures in general, you started off your third party commentary with: "I hate to disagree with Zibbs here, and believe me, I really do..." (Which there is nothing neutral about.)

For someone as educated and open-minded as yourself, it seems rather silly that I should have to ask you to respect the right to other people's opinions (regardless of whether you agree with them or not); especially when you consider them your friends.

kylemydude
Kyle S 3 years ago

Yo dude, thanks for the link. LOS LINKS!!! Lmao, anyways check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrYPJ4Yc31g I haven't been online, I was staying at my Mom's and she doesn't have internet. By the way, did I tell you I was doing Vincenzo Natali's films? I saw Cube, which I really enjoyed, except for the black guy's acting, which was really horrid, I personally really liked the ending, and wouldn't have it any other way, kind of like the Inception ending, you just have "accept it with simplicity." But, check out a film called Cypher asap if you haven't allready SO underrated. I also have "nothing" on dvd, gonna watch it before I catch Splice at the $3 theater. I've been super busy, and have been slacking on my films, time to get caught up! Also, this Snake Plisskin character below me is crazy for not giving Inception a chance, #3 on imdb's 250(Yes even though that list is a bit of a joke, it atleast shows that the people like it) 85% Tomatometer, plus amazing word of mouth, what's to stop someone from seeing it?

Zibbs

I never said that a Nolan film and a summer flick "CAN'T be one and the same thing;" my statement expressed that his usual style (perhaps, theme is a better descriptive) was less than, or secondary, to the summer flick emphasis apparent in the advertising. (It would make no sense for me to imply that he "sold out" since he has done big budget films in the past.)

I AM associating a negative with the emphasis on the film being a summer flick; hence, my "Not Interested" rating for the film. - Keep in mind, I like "Flash Gordon," "Highlander," and "Masters of the Universe" (there is no way I can appear snobby with those preferences). - Also, my definition of a summer flick is not technically universal; though I do feel many people use the term to describe "big, showy films."

Lastly, I've explained my belief that advertising NEEDS to "sell" me a product; I was not sold by the Inception trailer, thus it does not deserve my time or money. I take everything at face value; Generalizations are Generally True.

I do not like that you don't give ME the benefit of the doubt, that my prejudice skepticism might be overlooked when experiencing anything; I've watched films rated as "Not Interested" on Flixster and have been pleasantly surprised (i.e., North by Northwest).

I feel that kind of tainted expectation of my behavior (or anyone else' for that matter) makes you appear a bit snobby and contradictory.

(That last sentence comes across a bit more aggressive than intended.)

Zibbs

Andy's comment: "Not a bad movie, but the creative first-half was severely bogged down by the summer blockbuster action-packed, thinking-slacked second-half."

This was the comment I responded to, I was basically saying his commentary reflects my expectations for the film.

You clearly did not understand that the movie examples I provided were referring to "summer" style films (which BFA describes as "blockbuster action-packed, thinking-slacked"). The Director's styles present in those examples have nothing to do with the issue of "summer movie styles" and whether or not they are a primary or secondary characteristic of Inception.

Your defense that Inception is a Nolan film (since he's been working on it for 10 years) does very little for me since the trailers for it reflect the aforementioned BFA comment, as well as my own expectations for it (which correlate with BFA's reflections).

Again, my expectations for the movie correlate with BFA's personal sentiments that the film is "bogged down" by its "summer blockbuster" style. I would not describe most Nolan films (that I've seen) as Summer Blockbusters: Insomnia, The Prestige, Following, and Memento (which, so far, outnumber Begins, Dark Knight, and now Inception).

If you insist that I need to see the movie in order to defend my position in this conversation, than you are simply not responding under the same context of this issue as I am.

(In regards to your "switch a few words = Dark Knight" description: What is the creative first half of Dark Knight that is bogged down by it's action-packed, thinking-slacked sequences?)

I wrote up a review myself, while I did give it a little bit higher rating than you did, come to think of it I should change it from a 2.5 to a 2, but I was entertained yet very dissapointed. I did REALLY like Dev Patel and Shaun Toub, they were the only good acting really IMO.

Actually Friday night might work better for me aswell, there is a 7pm or 10:30 pm. It is gonna be really hard for me to make 7pm because I live in Ventura County, it's a good 80 miles away, but I'm going up with a buddy so I gotta check his work schedule and I'll let you know tomorrow. What day and time is best for you?

kylemydude
Kyle S 4 years ago

Have you seen the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes for Last Airbender? All three Twilight films have better ratings!!! I mean, Shamylan has really started to make crummy movies compared to his first stuff, but 7% fresh!?! I still am going to see it, the animation of the Bison looks incredible, and the visuals in general, I just am really bummed, Jonah Hex got better reviews! On a side note, I am not into Twilight at all, I saw the first one, not my choosing, thought it was a 4/10, 5 being generous, anyways, I am very curious about this new installment, because 30 Days of Night and Hard Candy were both great! I was really surprised by this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq5wyqk0Qls, plus Harry Knowles and most of the Ain't it Cool reviews.

I want to play it pretty bad! How sick is it? The man with no name trilogy is easily one of the best trilogies ever made. I saw on your review of Prince of Persia you said you thought Mortal Kombat is the best video game film, what about both of the Final Fantasy films?

kylemydude
Kyle S 4 years ago

Yea, it was so cool. What about you? Seen anything great lately?

kylemydude
Kyle S 4 years ago

Well I saw Metropolis in theaters and man, what an amazing experience. The theater I saw it at has 600 seats, and there were quite a lot filled, a couple hundred people maybe just at the showing I was at. I had never seen the film before, but after research I found it is the 2002 Kino restoration with 25 minutes of added footage taken from a reel found in Argentina. There is only about 5-8 minutes of lost footage now, which is two scenes, the first is when Freder(The protagonist) is in a church and sees a monk reading the Bible, and the second is when his father fights the scientist when Maria escapes. Everything else is accounted for.

As far as Mabuse goes, I have the first two to watch, but the third one, the 1,000 eyes of Dr. Mabuse says "Very Long Wait" on Blockbuster.com, and none of my local libraries carry it, and it's super expensive to buy. There are dvr recorded copies on Amazon for like $10, that's gonna be my best bet unless I can find it online. Also, I recently became aware that Dr. Mabuse is played by the same actor who played the scientist in Metropolis.

That's funny, to each his own I guess, I thought Alien 4 was ALOT better than Alien 3, mainly because the studios butchered it, I hear the director's cut is alot better though.

Also, glad you liked Kontroll, I think I mentioned it's high on my list last we talked. I for sure will see if before Predators.

Zibbs

I've got City Lights on my queue, it'll probably be in by next week.

What nights do you have free?

Zibbs

City Lights
It Happened One Night
The Best Years of Our Lives
Singin' in the Rain
North by Northwest
Midnight Cowboy
Harold and Maude
Run Lola, Run

This is the list of films I have to watch for the next 8 weeks on a weekly basis, let me know if you want to watch any of them.

kylemydude
Kyle S 4 years ago

Ok, so realized you didn't bring up a few things that I though I sent in my last msg, but that's because it was so damn long Flixster couldn't send it all! haha

That's why the end of my last message said, "But I still..." here is the continuation:

But I still will see Predators in theaters, I was a major fan of the first, and I really love Alien 1,2,and 4 on a seperate note. Was not a fan of Alien 3, Predator 2, or either of the AVP films, so I like half of the 8 films made, and I really hope this joins the good side, but I'm not sure yet, no one really can be. I do really want to see the director's first film "Kontrol," it's been on my to-see list for a while.

So what are your main 3 gripes or so about Repo Men? I really dug the hallway fight scene, even though it is basically a copy or homage to Oldboy, with "Burn my Shadow" by Unkle playing, I actually put the music video on my page, and ironically, it is directed by Miguel Sapochnik, the director of Repo Men! I wasn't aware but it seems he is a music-video director, which could contribute to the films very eclectic and badass soundtrack. But more than anything, I have to congratulate them on the cinematography, really great. How did you feel about the "twist" at the end, I could not decide if I liked it or not, my first reaction was "O brother" in way...

Yes, I plan on seeing "The Big Heat," and Film Noir is my favorite genre. I also plan on seeing Lang's Dr. Mabuse films, have you seen any of those?

kylemydude
Kyle S 4 years ago

Haha, that's awesome your mom liked him, he is so cool. I'm not a fan of Costner either, but Kevin Reynolds is a somewhat underrated and competant director. Yea, but it's allways fun to see Rickman in a bad guy role, even though it was very similar to that of Die Hard. Wincott needs to do more stuff! I think what most people remember him for is the main villian from "The Crow." I know! The Disney Robin Hood is one of Disney's best, and one fo their most underrated too, I consider "The Great Mouse Detective" to be it's brother film, mainly because both are based on famous stories, and both with animals in the roles usually played by humans, and both are two of the most underrated Disney films. I have the original Errol Flynn Robin Hood here to watch this week before I go see the new one, (I've never seen it.) Just out of curiosity, you said that Strong should have been Guy of Gisbourne instead of Godfrey, how are you familier with that character if you haven't seen the Flynn version? What I find very interesting is that Basil Rathbone played the original Sherlock Holmes, and Mark Strong played the main villian in the new adaptation, and Basil Rathbone played Guy of Gisbourne in the Original Robin Hood, and Mark Strong is basically playing the same time character. I also have Robin and Marion with Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn, with Robert Shaw as the villian, and Nicol Williamson (Merlin from Excalibur) is in it, along with Richard Harris. I had never heard of it until a few weeks ago actually. I do want to see "The Story of RObin Hood" at sometime, it is said to be one of the best adaptations, along with Flynn's, and it was Disney's second live-action film, after Treasure Island.

I will give Armored a shot, I almost picked it up tonight, but went with Public Enemies instead, since I hadn't seen it since theaters and my dad hadn't seen it yet. I don't know, but the Predators trailer looks kind of cheesy to me, it looks kind of like the condemned lol. I will stil

kylemydude
Kyle S 4 years ago

I'm trying not to focus in on it either, but I've seen the newest trailer for Inception like 20 times or more, and some things just seem to pop out at me. I just hope they aren't true. I think Nolan is maybe oing it on purpose, that is what was so genious about The Dark Knight, on the trailers it showed Joker drop Rachel out of a building, and it looked as if it was her death scene, but in the film batman saves her, and we don't think her character is gonna die anymore, then we get the twist with the bomb...

Which version of Robin Hood are you referring to that you like? The Errol Flynn version? The Disney animated tale? Which other asaptations have you seen? I didn't like Costner, but Alan Rickman and Michael Wincott made that movie for me, Michael Wincott is a very under-rated actor, his voice is amazing.

Yea I am really stoked for Animal Kingdom, it's a Blue Tounge film, which is an Australian production company which is rising fast. They have some academy award nominated short films, including this year's great "Miracle Fish," and the critically acclaimed film "The Square," which came out last month I think.

Let me know what you thought about the shorts when you see them.

I haven't seem Doomsday, I need to give it a chance, Michael Fassbender looks so badass in Centurion though, and Neil Marshall is really becoming a pretty solid genre director.

P.S. I am going on thursday to see "The Complete Metropolis" in theaters, which is a new restored print, 25 minutes longer, the closest thing to definitive. I hae never seen the film, so I thought it would be a good idea and it would be cool to see it in theaters, I also have "M" sitting here on dvd to watch later on in the week, Fritz Lang's other masterpiece, it will be another first-time viewing for me, the reason I bring it up is because it is your background skin...

Haha wow. That video was great. I am so stoked for Inception even more now. =D

Glad to see you liked The new Robin Hood, was Mark Strong as badass as usual? I have high hopes, I usually love anything Ridley Scott does.

I was shocked to see you gave "Armored" 7/10. I have heard nothing but trashy reviews, I'll have to check it out. Yet again, I thouroughly enjoyed "Repo Men," moreso than many others it seems.

kylemydude
Kyle S 4 years ago

Yeah, it honestly looks to be Nolan's masterpiece, allthough that is very hard to say, since I love all of his work (Insomnia being my least favorite). I think it will be this generation's Blade Runner. My only gripe with the new trailer is it gives away a few important plot points, concerning Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's characters. I have a very strong idea of how it all might play out. But who knows, I just can't wait! Two more months! I looked at your list of favorite films, we share alot of the same it appears.

We should, yea it would be sick to meet someone off Flixster.

I'm pretty excited for Friday as well, Ridley Scott's Robin Hood. I fucking love Mark Strong, one of the biggest badasses out there...

Also, tell me what you think of these videos/trailers.

This is an Aussie film I am highly anticipating, the trailer is very well done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5BsYRmMfus

And here's two shorts:

Nice dude! That's where I saw Avatar, it's bigger than the one at Citywalk and the one at the Bridge, but not my much, those three are the biggest in Southern California I've found. I am planning on going to the Irvine IMAX to see Inception actually. What did you think of the new trailer shown with Iron Man 2?

kylemydude
Kyle S 4 years ago

Yo, I see you live in Southern California, and it appears you went to a midnight showing of Iron Man 2 aswell, did you go to an IMAX theater? If so, which one? There's not many legit ones in Southern California anymore just a few with all these "Imax small screen" theaters popping up...

Hey, I just watched The Goods and saw your review. The first quote you put up was this:

I don"t remember that in the film whatsoever. When did Jeremy Piven say that??

Well I haven't finished the review yet but I was mentioning how the film feels like something that would have been huge back in the early 70s. (With Ashby, Cassavetes or Nichols) I mean its not as though films like it aren't made but seem to be stuck in the art house ghetto. Maybe its just that the marketing forgot to mention that the lead character was dying of Leukemia but few people seem interested in these types of character comedic dramas anymore. I think that you'll see a comeback once Apatow takes care of his editing issues as a director but its unfortunate that it seems as though any time Adam Sandler is taking a artistic risk, it falls flat on his face. No wonder he'd rather just make non-demanding, bring in a truckload of money crap.

Zibbs

It's funny, I went back to my source and it in fact does reference the entire article from Wikipedia.

I'm glad that you agree the delivery and success of the film is attributed to the director Henry Selick (especially when compared with Burton's "Corpse Bride").

Zibbs

"When we reach Halloween Town, it's entirely German Expressionism. When Jack enters Christmas Town, it's an outrageous Dr. Seuss setpiece. Finally, when Jack is delivering presents in the 'Real World', everything is plain, simple, and perfectly aligned. . . I don't want to take away from Tim, but he was not in San Francisco when we made it. He came up five times over two years, and spent no more than eight or ten days in total. . . It's as though he laid the egg, and I sat on it and hatched it. He wasn't involved in a hands-on way, but his hand is in it. It was my job to make it look like 'a Tim Burton film', which is not so different from my own films." - Henry Selick

But it is a January film...

Do you watch Eastbound & Down at all? I think you do, I can't remember if you mentioned it in your reviews of Foot-Fist Way/Observe & Report. Anyway. My impression of The Goods (having not yet seen it) is that it's basically Ashley Schaffer BMW: The Movie. Is that accurate?

I'd also love to know if Ferrell's cameo is as Schaffer himself, though you can choose to spoil that at your own discretion.

I skipped Revenge of the Fallen -- I think I can wait a year and catch it on an HD movie channel somewhere down the line. Would you say I made the right choice or is it aided by the big-screen experience?

I was so tanked during GI Joe that I may have fallen asleep a couple times. Or I may have just closed my eyes for a few seconds and opened them immediately. I really couldn't tell. But it was stupid fun and I did laugh a LOT. "Hay, is that DOUBLE BUBBLE??" AHahahahah

Oh I know Knowing sucked. I just couldn't help but like it anyway, despite Cage's best efforts. There were a few lines in the movie that reminded me of "How'ditgetburned? How'ditgetburned??? How'ditgetburned, how'ditgetburned, how'ditgetburned?!?!?!" I dunno. I just admire how ballsy the movie was, and even if the ideas it explored were kinda stupid, how can I hate the film when it's exploring ideas I've had before? I recognize it's poorly executed, but it has my respect.

Southland Tales has been on my watchlist for a while. Having just seen the trailer for his next movie, The Box, I think I'll finally get around to it.

Hahaha look at this story. Joaquin Phoenix confirms he's walking the hip-hop line.

I'm doing well in Chicago. The job is sort of just a grind right now with long hours. And the weather obviously sucks. But I like being on my own and the job seems to be a good opportunity.

I just remembered I had mine, but when I peeled off the code-blocking sticker it ripped off half the code. I did some research online and supposedly you could share your code with up to five people.

If you still have it, I'd appreciate trying to use it since I did pay for a code. If not, I'll try contacting either Sony or GameStop for sympathy.

Thanks, bud.

Zibbs

I'm working Friday, 4-10:30, and Saturday, 4-10:30.

I should have next weeks schedule by tonight, hopefully.

Zibbs

Yea, it seems Ver Meer and Tim, as well as people from work, are doing that too. I'll probably pass on it.

Zibbs

My bike still isn't fixed; I probably won't be able to make it over there anyways.

Zibbs

Ok, so I got Sunday night off; I'm scheduled to work 8am - 2:30pm that morning, so I'll probably take a quick nap before we head out. Do we plan on eating anywhere before we go?

I also have this Friday evening off, and Wednesday after 9pm.

Zibbs

That's totally fine; it was pretty much a this Sunday or not for me.

As soon as the new schedule is made, I'll let you know you what my status is.

Zibbs

Alright, I'll put in my request tonight; there shouldn't be a reason why they schedule me unless they've already made the schedule.

Zibbs

I have a store meeting on the 19th at 6pm, the meeting will probably last an hour.

If we go on the 12th, everyone has 4 days to confirm their participation (including myself).

I'll go ahead and put in my request for the 12th today; if our plans fail for that evening, I'm not gonna bother my bosses about the 19th (I've requested a few other days off this month already).

If you have any thoughts or updates about which day to go on, please give me a call.

Zibbs

Well, let's all pick a solid date so I don't have to keep changing my availability.

Zibbs

I'll put in a request.

Zibbs

Ok, here's my availability for this week:

Monday night, Wednesday night (around 9pm), all of Thursday, and Saturday evening after 6:30pm.

Is your father available during any of those 3 days for dinner (preferably Thursday or Saturday)?

I was thinking I'd come over again Wednesday evening and we could watch the premiere of South Park, if that's cool.

Also, I bumped into Guillermo's best man, Chad, the other day; he is apparently attending a bonfire Saturday night (tonight) and says we are welcome. I figured it could be at least one option for that evening, otherwise, I'll try and be creative.

Zibbs

Alright, I'll see if I can get a group of people together to go and hang out.

Zibbs

Yea, I'll probably swing by after class on Wednesday.

ALSO, I actually have this Saturday off, so if you and your dad are available to have dinner, that would work out nicely.

DUDE AWESOME REVIEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Zibbs

I've summarized the following as much as I felt was needed:

Dude, I'm inviting you to a Halloween-themed social event. You like the Orange County Fair. You like dressing up and walking down the streets of Isla Vista on Halloween Weekend. And you're asking me if Scary Farm is something you'd enjoy? When I think of those sentences in that order, I can't answer your question; I'm too bemused by the doubt in your inquiry.

Perhaps it's more of a setting for you and Kaitie; in fact, I would actually encourage you to take her to Scary Farm (if she's willing), rather than getting a group together.

So, to answer your question: You're an intelligent man who likes to go out and have a good time, if you think Scary Farm is something you and Kaitie would enjoy, go for it.

All I was trying to do was suggest some places to go hang out with my Hebrow and friends.

I'm over the Scary Farm subject, but if you could think of some things for us to do, in or out of a group, I'd appreciate it.

Zibbs

I take it you've never been to Scary Farm; they redecorate the whole amusement park and fill it with mazes, shows, and performers designed to "scare" you, the rides are still active but are not the main attraction.

What about Oktober Fest?

Zibbs

Would you be interested in attending Oktober Fest and/or Knott's Scary Farm this year?

Zibbs

I am working till 10:30pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (and most likely Sunday) this week. I have Mondays and Wednesdays off for school (so far), and they've been giving me Tuesdays off, as well, for some reason. My availability will be like that until I can work out something more convenient with my boss, but I'm not going to push it because I am making rent money and getting school days off; those two things come first.

So, if you're willing to see LT on a Monday or Tuesday (depending on what my schedule is like next week), I also wouldn't mind seeing either Ghost Town or Burn After Reading. I'll keep you up to date on my availability if you're interested.

Also, my dad's schedule is pretty much open for dinner; he nevers works past 5pm, so it's pretty much a matter of availability between your dad and I. Keep me up to date with that if you can.

Zibbs

Yea, that's perfect. I get off at 6:30 that day.

What is you and your dad's availability like for the next few weeks?

Zibbs

Hey, I might not be able to make it Friday night to go see Righteous Kill; I'm scheduled to work till 10:30 that evening. I'll see if I can switch with someone or get off earlier that evening, but there may not be a good chance of that happening. Would it be possible to find a 10:30pm or later showing of that film that evening or would it be better to just reschedule for another day?

Zibbs

I don't have a printer to redeem my code/movie ticket, should I just give it to you and have you print it out to hold on to?

Also, I get off work at 10:30 on Saturday night.

Zibbs

Is there any reason I should consider getting the 3-disc "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" collecter's edition, or would I be better off just getting the regular movie?

Zibbs

I'm available Monday and Thursday night for Anchorman and CH7, or whatever it's called.

Thing was, it took awhile before hearing about it being part three of a trilogy, and my brother made the mistake of judging the prequels based on Army Of Darkness...
(Evil Dead seemed too disturbing and low budget to him in comparison at the time)

Then about half a year later, he wanted to face his fear of Freddy Kueger and other various horror flicks by renting all the Friday The 13th and Elm Street stuff, so he had re-evaluated ED now knowing what to expect then FINALLY soon afterward we rented "Evil Dead 2" and he's been an avid horror movie fan ever since.

Zibbs

Either works for me.

We came upon Evil Dead much later, though it was lucky. That USA network (back when it still had good stuff on it) just started to play the Army Of Darkness right when we were channel surfing by it...

While waiting to see what the title was much catch our attention and it never seemed to get boring through out the time idoling on the channel and we became instant fans!

Evil Dead 2 is more like a bedtime story now to me than something to watch for a thrill: Pretty much a favorite that you've seen or heard so many time that there's no question about remembering what happens but still they wanna experience it anyways!

That's how my brother was with the '89 Batman VHS all during childhood.

I agree with you on Fight Club.

Zibbs

He said "Pads", right?

Zibbs

I started re-reading "Watchmen" a couple days ago. I'm trying to go at a slower pace so I can pick up on some of the things I missed the first time, as well as get a feel for how the camera panning and editing style will be for the film.

When I first read the book, I didn't notice that Rorschach was the guy carrying the sign throughout the beginning. That kind of disappoints me because it takes away most of the mystique of his character, at least for me, anyways.

Zibbs

Alright, cool, I'll take you up on that.

I'm sure we can think of something else.

Do you know if Resistance has an online co-op feature?

Zibbs

Scooter and I set up "Shark Club" for Friday night, that's what I'm doing then. I really don't have anything planned until Sunday, when I have to go back for some MSF training, so pretty much whenever you want to watch Vince Vaughn works for me; then we just need to figure out when to start Samurai Jack.

Zibbs

Got it, "awareness".

Zibbs

4 is thoroughly explained in the film.

1 doesn't hold up so well; when the joker is being interrogated, he plays innocent, explaining he's been in police custody the whole time, putting the blame on Gordon's men. In case I'm mistaken, the 5 deaths are related to these people who were involved in kidnapping Rachel and Harvey. These deaths could easily be linked with the Joker, since they did work for him, OR, similar to the beginning of the film where they all kill each other out of greed, something similar could be explained (i.e., no witnesses).

2 and 5 are the same thing, but cancel out 1 automatically, and I accepted 2 as a sufficient answer when the item was first brought up.

But 3 is something I did not fully pick up on, so thanks for that.

Zibbs

I'll do my best, but we only have two copies and it's been checked out since it came out; also, it'll be 5 bucks since it's considered new.

Heyy! Awesome profile man, and woww.. great reviews!

Zibbs

Thanks, Hebrow. Were we going to have dinner with Kevin and his date as well?

Zibbs

If you're still going to Boomers Tuesday night, I have a favor to ask of you. I'll be getting off work around 4 or 4:30 at Blockbuster and I'm looking for someone to give me a ride. I figured that since we planned on going to Boomers with Kevin later that night, I was hoping that you wouldn't mind coming to pick me up. But if it is an inconvenience, I could give you some gas money to compensate you for your trip.

Please let me know if you're willing to do this because I will be looking for a ride that afternoon.

Zibbs

Dude you left out the best part of that scene on your review for Road Trip.

"Okay, I got one. It's not cheating if you put peanut butter on your balls and let your dog lick it off.. it's not cheating!.. get it? Because it's not your dog?"......

"Yeah, we get it".

You cannot just put a quote up and leave out the Golden moment it revolves around! lol.

Yea, I know. Society stopped his heart.

Took me a while to respond, but yeah. I've been using Criticker a lot more of late and just posting reviews over there (barring bi-monthly Flixster review dumps). I like their recommendation system a lot better, and it's not over-run by Johnny Depp-loving teenagers / doesn't bombard me with crap e-mails. You should check it out.

Zibbs

Batman Quits = :)

Zibbs

Yea, I read somewhere that they did that; I wasn't sure if I had read it correctly or not, but apparently it's true.

Wait until they throw Metal Gear on Guitar Hero.

Zibbs

Kool. Hopefully, by then, I'll have the apartment fully redecorated since Edan moved out and you can check out what I've done with his space.

Zibbs

One scene I really enjoyed in Crystal Skull was when Marcus Brody's statue head rolls into the badguy drivers lap and Mutt starts to chuckle and Indy gives him a disapproving glare, very similar to Last Crusade.

It was a close second to Mutt throwing Indy a snake as a means of escaping quicksand.

Zibbs

I would recommend that you also make a skin, it takes a couple of hours (mostly figuring out how you want it to look and fine-tuning it) but it's fun.

Zibbs

If I don't get on the 11:05, I will call you and say: "Hey, I missed the 11:05; I'll be taking the 1:36."

If I do get on the 11:05, you won't hear from me until I get there around 3:30.

Zibbs

I'll probably try and get on the 11:05 so I can be tired enough to take a nap on the train; otherwise I might have to take the 1:36, depending on when I can get a ride.

Zibbs

Ok, so the 9:03 to 1:26 on Sunday is the only option.

Are the tickets still roughly 27 dollars?

Zibbs

Is there an 11:30 or Noon Train that gets here around 4 or 4:30?

Zibbs

Since I'm not working Friday, I might just take the train up and back (considering that gas prices are almost 4 dollars/gallon).

Would it be possible for you to look up times for me or at least give me the web link so I can figure out if that's something I would like to do ('cuz I do need to be at work by 5pm on Sunday)?

Zibbs

It looks like I won't be working Friday, so I'll probably just drive up there during the day and get there around dinner time.

Zibbs

I won't be home for the rest of the day, so you'll probably need to call or text me.

Zibbs

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ELhtXtnV3pg

Look familiar?

Zibbs

K, here's what's up, when you get home around 6:30 tomorrow, we'll head straight to the Spectrum and have dinner (your choice) and check to see if there's any lines for Iron Man. No lines = more time for dinner, etc.

There may be about 10-15 people who show up.

The show times that would work out best for everyone, with you included, are as follows:

Iron Man @ 8:40
Sarah Marshall @ 11:15

(I didn't see any of the times you posted listed at the movie times I looked at, so I'll have to verify tomorrow when I pick up tickets; I will call you if there are any changes.)

Also, my roommates and I are going to be meeting someone at the movie who's considering moving in with us, so please don't be offended if some of the conversation turns towards our rental business at any time.

Zibbs

Would you mind going to see "Iron Man" at the Spectrum if more people decided to come? (A few of my friends are from Tustin and don't want to drive all the way to Aliso theatre to see the movie.)

I figured you would rather have more people show up then go to our usual rendezvous. Plus, there's plenty of places to eat around there. I'll probably have the day off, so we can go wherever... Dave and Busters?

Zibbs

NOSTALGIA!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmcKGcKW76M&feature=related

Zibbs

The following Friday I'll be closing however, and then I plan on driving straight up to Santa Barbara; which means I'll probably get there around 2 am. (3 hour ETA)

And then that Sunday, I'll have to be awake and driving back home around Noon, because I'll be scheduled to close at 5pm.

Zibbs

Well, I already told my boss that I won't be able to close that Friday; so if he does schedule me, I'll be getting off around 7pm. So if we want to do dinner or something first, then an 8pm or later showing would be fine.

Zibbs

It'll be up before the week is over, according to the article; most likely sometime tomorrow or the next day.

PS: You need to register for a Konami ID and a Game ID

Zibbs

http://ps3.kombo.com/article.php?artid=6667

Zibbs

That actually sounds pretty cool. I'll have to rent it or something when it comes out.

Zibbs

Yeah, the first one's fine.

Zibbs

At the moment, I can get out of work around 8pm on Friday. So if we can schedule Jackie Chan/Jet Li first, I won't mind being a little late for that; and then find our way into 88 minutes, that'd work out best for me.

Zibbs

I'll most likely be working Friday night, so if I can only go see one movie, I'd prefer 88 Minutes.

If I close, I probably won't be able to get off work until around 10:10 at the earliest, but it'll be right next to Aliso so I can show up in like 5 minutes.

If I don't close, or if I can get one of my coworkers who owes me a favor to cover for me, I should be able to make both. We could also stop at Stadium Brewery for Dinner.

I'll let you know in the next day or so.

I just watched the trailer for "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and was laughing out loud. Are you going to see that next Tuesday?

Zibbs

And apparently Flixster wants to bring back random reviews I've done and post them as if I watched them recently (the Miyamoto Mushashi stuff).

Zibbs

It was one of my co-workers from when I worked at Hollywood Video that made that statement; and it was just a comment that stuck with me.

I don't know if you like to point out morons in the room, but I do know that if you have the opportunity to correct or shame someone in knowledge/trivia, you'll take it; which is fine with me (most of the time).

Zibbs

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3167114

Zibbs

The Spectrum 21 at 8 and Fatboy at 10:15 would probably work best for me, lemme know if that's the game plan.

gorthaurrockatansky

Hey, your taste and reviews of cinema is excellent! Finally someone who like Thunderdome and knows other great gems like Memento and Dark City and the Big Lebowski! ~thumbsup~

Zibbs

I like the fact that they admit pretty much what I surmised when I said they had run out of ideas; and then Imaginationland was born from their frustration, as well as stretching it out into three episodes to meet their quota.

It's nice to be right once in a while. :)

You're coming down this weekend, right?

Zibbs

I'll see what I can do; I'll try and fix my hours for next Friday.

Zibbs

I'm not 100 percent sure what my hours are like this weekend, but most likely I will be getting off work around 10-10:30pm on Friday and probably around 7 or 8pm on Saturday; Thursday nights I get off at 8pm and Sunday I close.

I'll find out what my schedule is like tomorrow and get back to you, but Saturday will probably be the best day for me to go see any movies. And if you'd like, a few of us could go out to Dave and Busters or something on Thursday or Friday.

Zibbs

Just curious, did you happen to watch the Cowboy Bebop movie in English or Japanese with subtitles?

I watched it with subtitles because I couldn't stand the English adaptation.

Zibbs

At least two of those films were your idea.

My favorite was "The Legend of Sisyphus."

I haven't really had much of an opportunity to play Brawl; my roommate that plays video games all day "doesn't like me playing video games when he wants to" (according to Neal, since Edan is too passive-aggressive to confront me), despite the fact that I'll play for like an hour after I get home from working all day. So I'm currently giving him the cold shoulder as well as dismissing any request he asks of me. Which is probably for the better, because it's pushed me to buy a better TV for myself; I will upgrade from my tiny, portable 15 inch TV to a 35 inch HDMI/1080p TV as soon as I'm done paying off my dental work as well as any taxes I owe.

Good Luck with Finals.

Zibbs

You can do better than that.

Zibbs

I've been digging the scoring of the TV series, it's pretty hip; but I can't sympathize with the soundtrack of the Bebop movie; probably because the vocalists for each song annoyed me.

So, after your summer class, you'll have your Master's degree in Anthropology?

Zibbs

I've been watching Cowboy Bebop, as well; I got the greatest hits/fan favorites DVD and I've been considering watching the series as a whole (I really enjoyed Session #5). Let me know what you think of the series.

Neal showed me a few episodes of the Venture Bros. when I first moved in, I don't really have a preference for the show; I mean there are parts that I do enjoy in it, Brock Samson in general is just amazing, but I don't have a problem watching it.

Ver Meer has been getting me Batman: The Animated Series for me on Netflix, so I'm looking forward to rewatching that in the near future.

Playing Mass Effect a second time through, because it kicks ass, as well as watching the second season of Ghost in the Shell, which I'm not quite sure how I feel about yet; but you should definitely check out the first season after Cowboy Bebop.

So, if you plan on finishing up with college this summer, what are your plans for the fall?

Zibbs

I'm doing alright, working 7 days a week; weekends are the worst (wake up at 8am, 9-1 at Kidz Club, go home, take a nap, eat, 5-1 at Blockbuster, repeat).

Been spending some quality time with my dad, since my mom moved to Texas, he'll tell me stories about how he got hit in the face with a shovel once during a fight and stuff; he's also enlightened me of some traits that I didn't really notice about myself. Apparently, one of the things that really bothers people about me is that I talk really fast (like how I'm responding to your simple question with a huge reply), they feel like I'm assaulting them with words; I don't do it intentionally, I just think really fast and let the words flow out of my mouth.

More financial stress (dental work, car checkup, taxes, etc.) and more bullshit with Edan (he gave us all a heads up that he might move out within the next month or so, but he's not even sure if he will because "he doesn't like packing/moving"). Neal might be getting promoted at Blizzard, animating environments for WoW and such.

What about you, got any updates for me?

Zibbs

Yea, that's been in the works for a while now.

Oh, I checked out that King of Kong movie you recommended...

Zibbs

I'll eventually check out the movie you recommended, but at the moment, I am currently engaged in Mass Effect and probably will be for a couple more weeks; seeing as how I work 7 days a week.

I'm kinda of sick of COD4 (watching my roommate Edan playing it half the day), and besides that, I wasn't a big fan of the story mode aspect of it, so I probably won't be too big a fan of the online mode either. (Plus, I'd probably really suck.)

Our online encounters will have to wait until Brawl or MGS4 comes out, but I appreciate the invite.

PS: If you haven't seen it already, I would recommend you watch the TV series: "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" It's basically a cop-drama, "detective story" series, with lots of hard film noir aspects; which I think you'd enjoy. There isn't really anything I don't like about it, but it is very plot driven and there may be times you're overwhelmed with information (similar to MGS2). But other than that, I think you'd enjoy it.

Zibbs

Yes, I work seven days a week now, and late night showings are my only availability.

Otherwise, I'll be sleeping until 3 or 4...

Zibbs

Yea, already saw Balls of Fury today... the reviews you read were pretty much dead on, but if there's nothing else to see that week, knock yourself out. I'll show up for Shoot 'Em Up, though.

As for the pool party, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays are no good for me (also, I think I found a second job, so Wednesdays probably won't be any good either). Monday and Friday evenings I have off, but if you plan on having it during the day, you could always pick a day and I can get that day off, no problem (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, that is); just let me know ASAP.

Zibbs

Oh, ok. Well, I don't have any desire to see Death Sentence and I was only mildly interested in Halloween, so I probably won't hang out with you guys this Friday; and, most likely, I'll end up seeing Balls of Fury with Marco or somebody over the weekend.

But I'm down for Shoot 'Em Up next week.

Also, I don't know if you'd be interested again, but there will be another bonfire this labor day; same place, same time, yadda yadda.

yeah that is awesome. I personally thought they were both infected, since they were kind of laughing and acting strange.

50 people? What kind of league is that? You are truly a fantasy mogul. You are first in Cinema, Cinema, Cinema as well, and have 2 movies left. Maybe "I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry" will be the best movie ever made and move me up to first place.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 6 years ago

I have a possibly stupid question, was the ending of The Thing supposed to show uncertainty whether or not they were infected? Or did they kill the monster for sure for good?

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 6 years ago

I thought LoTR was fine since it was fantasy and good vs. evil.

But yeah, Casino Royale was possibly worse with that brutal torture scene.

Lustra

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

yeah seriously dude that hammer guy was crazy. That would have been cool.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

Yes, good point. Just my opinion. When I don't believe the characters behavior and actions within the context of the story, there isn't much that can save a movie. Other than comedies, the movies have to be plausible, at least to me.

A movie like The Matrix has a farfetched story, but as long as I believe that what the characters are doing and saying makes sense, it's all good.

Ghost Dog was very funny at times. So in that way the not plausible part worked. But I felt that the part of it, if any, that was trying to be serious did not succeed because of the implausibility.

P.S. what did you think of the end of 1408 (what was on the tape recorder in real life).

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

Yea I know I didn't mean all the quotes. Some of them made sense, but there were a couple that I just said what the hell is this.

But the main problem was that a lot of parts were just not plausible. The ways the characters react and behave was too strange or illogical. I really have a laundry list of unbelievable parts. So, maybe if we watch this next year you can nullify my complaints.

Zibbs

I'll hold off for something better.

Zibbs

What theatre number do you have for Die Hard?

Zibbs

Same thing with Die Hard, when should we buy tickets?

Then he just mows them all over twice. Although I ordinarily wouldn't like such an unrealistic occurrence, that was exactly what I wanted to see at that point, so it was justified.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

oh interesting I didn't know Tarantino wrote True Romance.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

yeah we'll see, it's definitely possible because I have been wrong before. I just wasn't feeling the classic status in my mind for some reason, so I'll just have to wait and see if I'm right.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

Yea, I knew that, and thought that after the 1st time I watched it... But my opinion in the review stated that you can't be sure he got the correct stare. I may be completely wrong, but I hope I'm not. If it's that simple then the whole story is pretty damn stupid. As everyone would have known it was Lee after they found the Windwalker boots in the correct size in his trailer. (1 in a 10,000,000 right there). Zodiac watch. Gloves. Guns. Obvious that its him. (Who needs a stare?). Everyone should know that at that point. Are you telling me that a guy as "smart" as the Zodiac left his trailer with all that evidence still inside?

I did agree with you the first time I saw it. Then the second time I developed my own crazy theory that he could have been framed, which I feel was supported (you can ask me all the movie evidence later unless you know that I'm wrong). I feel like you have to judge that stare in the paint store for yourself.

About Napoleon Dynamite. People aren't laughing at him in a bad way. People laugh at his blunt honesty, innocence, and simplicity. Did you laugh at the retarded guy in "Theres Something about Mary?" or any other retarded character in any other comedy? If so, what's the difference?

And also, I'm sure people felt sad for Napoleon when his date left him at the dance. I did. They didn't try to make that funny.

But come on, when the lisp guy runs over the tupperware and it just shatters. Then he drives off saying "Jesus Christ." The time machine? The internet chatting obsessions? The karate class? Rico?

Maybe you just weren't in the right mood.

Double meanings are only found if you're looking for them. That sentence could be a double meaning. ; )

Zibbs

That's not what Tia Dalma said at the end of the second film and throughout the beginning of this movie; which is why they fell off the end of the world.

It may have not had more "fade to black" endings than Lord of the Rings, but there were many times during the half hour ending that it could've very well ended. At least in my theatre (which was cheering throughout the film until the ending, where nobody laughed or clapped), there was unanimous silence as people waited for the movie to end.

And I was confused by this statement: "one of the most enduring ever not based on a real life character", but I get it now.

you still wanna see Black book tomorrow right?

Zibbs

Yea, your "unnecessary heated debates" interest on Facebook speaks for itself. They just work better in person because then I can make faces.

But you're right, I guess we'll have to wait 'til the DVD with Bonus Features comes out where they interview Michael Bay as he comments: "Yea, we couldn't get Frank Welker so I skipped right over David Kaye and casted Hugo Weaving because I hate Beast Wars; robots transforming into animals?... And they go BACK in time to prehistoric Earth where they encounter the remnants of their autobot/decipticon ancestor's space ship?... And then later, in Beast Machines, one of them transforms into a PLANT?... What kind of retarded bullshit is that!? I mean, robots transforming into machines is cool; but plants and animals? Fuh-gidda-bow-did!"

Zibbs

In terms of how Hollywood produces movies, I can safely bet that when Frank Welker didn't work out for them, they didn't think to themselves: "Well, let's get Beast Wars Megatron to do the voice." It was more like: "Well, let's just get someone famous and/or popular to do the voice."

Regardless, I'm pretty sure Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, will make a decent sounding Megatron.

Zibbs

I'm familiar with that info.

They skipped right over David Kaye and went straight to Agent Smith. That's what pisses me off.

Regardless of which Megatron came first, David Kaye still has a cool voice; and in my opinion, the better voice. Just because Hugo Weaving did the voice of 'V' does not mean he's the right candidate for the job.

At least Keith David is doing a voice in the film, that calms me down a bit.

Zibbs

Things that piss me off:

David Kaye will not be the voice of Megatron in Transformers.

I'm glad you enjoyed Slap Shot.

I agree with you on the matter that there was not enough Morpheus in Revolutions, and that he was "useless."

If I remember correctly, he doesn't even have a cool mini-showdown with Commander Locke; not even a quick insult regarding his butt-chin.

Than again, most of the Morpheus scenes in the film were of him in the "real world"; and he can't possibly have the same coolness as he imagines himself to have in The Matrix. Or maybe it was just the fact that he wasn't wearing any sunglasses... ?

And the ending did suck; QUITE anti-climatic, goddamnit. I remember sitting in the theatre( after I had just snuck all my friends in to see it), listening to Navras, and thinking: "Really? That's how they're going to end the movie?" And I just kept repeating that.

If and when you get a chance to, check out the "Lost Levels" section on the Special Features disc of GOW2. There is a brief sequence that shows Kratos standing on a rock that is crumbling apart as it falls down a deep hole. That is exactly the type of game play I was talking about for Shadow of the Colossus 2 (minus the leaping from rock to rock aspect).

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

Yeah i see your point they never show the murder take place but I wonder if that was what the director was really thinking. I believe that the director didn't feel the need to show it because the killer provided so many details. Country Club, Golf Pro, Killed the bitch he was with, banker, held in Maine.

Do you think that was what the director or whoever decides on that stuff was thinking.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

Really? I find that no one could reasonably dispute Andy's innocence or even consider him being guilty as a possibility. The killer from the other prison provides an elaborate, detailed, and exactly accurate description. What really sealed the deal was when he says "He's doing time in Maine somewhere." He narrows it down too much for there to be any uncertainty.

Zibbs

He kept hitting the pillars.

And the monster was bigger than the pillars.

I understand he's not a marksman like his sister, but that sequence put me in the shoes of the director/animator: "Ok, how can we animate a giant monster running around with molotovs being thrown at him without them hitting him , because that would require the cocktails to explode while impacting on an object that isn't there?... Hmmm..."

Zibbs

I would still be happy if the movie was only about "Machete", who gets the women and kills the Bad Guys.
But after the latest trailer where Kurt Russel states "I'm not a cowboy... I'm a STUNTMAN." I'm looking forward to both stories now.

The epic finale of The Host was glorious and slow. The only thing that bugged me was when the drunk uncle kept missing the monster when he threw; mainly because it made the monster seem more computer animated than real (it's kind of equivalent to when people shoot guns in movies and the bullets always ricochet right next to the targets).

Zibbs

Oh, don't worry, Scooter's taking Tyler to see Dead Silence.

I'm trying to get some co-workers to go see The Host with me (Tyler and Scooter plan on showing up later).

Zibbs

Why?

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

yeah nice noticing. I'm definitely up for it

Zibbs

I was just being an asshole.

But upon accepting a new friend request, it seems like that is a default message sent to the acceptor; most likely to instigate conversation.

Zibbs

Hey, we like the same movies! You must have great taste. :)

Zibbs

Heh heh heh, probably because it reminds them of how foolish they were back then; not that they're any better now, just more bitter and bitchy.

Zibbs

So many claim to hate Titanic?... You must be referring to guys, because every girl in the U.S. loves this movie; ESPECIALLY if they watched it in Junior High or younger. This is probably the most general reason why guys hate this movie; their girlfriends praise this movie.

To go even further in depth, the reason why guys hate this movie is for the exact same reasons girls LOVE this movie (which goes for any other Battle of the Sexes element). Rose is a girl being told what to do and how to behave, but no one seems to notice or care about her feelings. So when Jack gives her that attention and treats her with "respect", she gets all wet between the legs. She is free to be independent with Jack and do the things she wants to do with him; much along the lines of Romeo and Juliet, it is young, naive puppy-love. Thus, many young girls can relate to these feelings because they are going through puberty and their personality is changing towards their family, friends, and boys.

... ...

Zibbs

(continued from above)

Guys, on a subconscious level realize this, and detest this "Girl Power" attitude. And it's not simply because guys aren't affectionate and don't believe in love; they just don't believe in puppy-love. Guys have always been and will always be PRACTICAL; it is both childish and immature to believe in puppy-love. Everything that girls find "romantic" revolves around the notion of puppy-love, which is why most guys hate anything romantic; unless it's get them laid. Because this film encourages young girls to call themselves "independent" and embrace the ideals of romantic, puppy-love, guys HATE this film. There is no excuse for a film to preach such childish nonsense to anyone; ESPECIALLY young girls who think they're mature. Chick flicks are fine and dandy for ladies, but when a film preaches this kind of nonsense, guys get PISSED.

Chris Rock said it best:

You gotta treat women like retarded children.

Zibbs

Either way, I still prefer my opening to the movie.

If I ever do decide to watch Zodiac in the future, I'll be sure to skip that scene for my own personal enjoyment.

Zibbs

I might have misheard, but during the movie, I thought they said that Zodiac succesfully killed the first couple he murdered but than his pattern broke after he the males kept living after his attacks.

The killing at the beginning of the movie shows the kid barely alive when the cop pulls up, and then at the end of the film, he identifies the killer he hasn't seen in like twenty odd years.

That's the impression I got while watching the movie, but I could be wrong.

Wait, didn't the first killing have something to do with Linda or whoever that girl in prison was when the Zodiac was obsessing over her, and that's what led the cartoonist to him?

Joseph1987
Joseph Cornforth 7 years ago

Hey, we like the same movies! You must have great taste. :)

Zibbs

It could've just started out with the opening credits that shows the cartoonist going to work on that fateful day the letters were sent in and then BAM, movie starts.

It wasn't necessary to have those first 10 minutes just to show a killing. You can argue that it sets the mood, but as I mentioned in my review, it reminded me of a terrible serial-killer horror movie; it's too formulated and cliche.

If he really wanted to start the movie off with a killing, he should have done it with the very first murder, followed by opening credits with the killer's theme music (the one he listens to in the car) playing, and then the next scene that follows is the NEXT murder (the one I disliked), followed by the rest of the movie.

I prefer my first suggestion better, but the thing I like about the two murder scenes in the first 15 minutes is that it would really sink in that this killer is compulsive. It would also make the "time line" aspect of the film much more complete and perfect.

Zibbs

Yea, I saw it after Matt posted it on Facebook.

Yep Aronovsky's amazing. I can't believe that film got slated by all the critics it was a symbloic, arty pseudo-masterpiece. Love the stuff shot in space. If you're into your horror films check out a British film called'The Descent'. Oh, ok, I just remembered there was a day you didn't feel like driving or anything because it was some certain day. Well, anyway, let me know what day he wants it soon; it comes out Tuesday.

Oh, I also got you some more Hollywood Video stuff. When you comin' down here next?

Zibbs

Ok, let your dad know that if he wants to watch it before Tuesday, I can rent it for him, but he'd have to return it the following day (I'm only allowed to rent "pre-street" movies for one day.) Otherwise, if he wants to wait another 2 weeks, he has the luxury of returning it within 5 days (Once a new movie comes out, I can't rent it for the first 2 weeks).

So, if he really wants to see it this week, lemme know when a good day it is to drop it off at his house and tell him that he needs to drop it off the following day. I don't know when you're guys' day of rest is, but it'd probably be better not to pick the day before that.

do u want to see painted veil?

What about hannibal rising

Zibbs

Ver Meer says they cost like 200 dollars, so I'm trying to get 10 of us to each pitch in 20 dollars.

Zibbs

Yea, I'm just as surprised as you are.

My average 2 and 2-1/2 star rating mainly stems from the movies that have been coming out for the last year or so, they just aren't that great, in my opinion; and I believe it has to do with Hollywood pulling in every shitty script possible and throwing out as many movies as they can before the screen writers strike in '08.

Besides, anything between 2 and 3 stars (on my scale) is not a bad movie, it's average. It's anything with 1-1/2 and below that I hate.

I don't grade movies, I just rate how much I like them. And I enjoyed Training Day a lot more than half the movies they've been distributing in the last year. Does that mean it's a work of art that deserves to be praised for it's style and craft? No, I just enjoyed it more and that's all I look for in movies.

And fuck Hollywoodland.

Zibbs

Upon further evaluation, I do believe it qualifies to be among all my other four star ranks.

My rating scale may not make sense you, but my overall preference for movies does not merely stem from a 5-star rating scale. You can tell how much I like a movie by my summary about it and the depth to which I struggle to convey my feelings for it.

I guess, if I think about it, another way my 5-scale system works is based off of how involved I get into the film, how much emotion it draws out of me. I like the movie Crank, but it just doesn't zone me out like some of my higher ranked movies.

So, hopefully, this little lesson helped you out. Otherwise, you just gotta accept the fact that I'm fuckin' demented.

Zibbs

Perhaps your right, I have only seen this movie twice and can't really judge it's lasting effects.

I was merely comparing it to Crank off the top of my head. I do enjoy Crank more than Training Day (since it is on my favorite movies list); however, it's pace and editing isn't as smooth as this film's. Also, this is one of the few movies where I've caught myself leaning towards my tv screen (I didn't do that with Crank).

But, I will re-evaluate, based on your suggestion.

By the way, I'm trying to gather as many friends from work and skool to see if they'd like to attend any midnite showing of Transformers when it comes out (some of them are inviting their other friends, as well). With any luck, I'm hoping to have a group large enough to fill up 2 rows of the theatre.

Let me know what your thoughts are on that.

Zibbs

Ok, when you say "engulf the planet in flames", I'm assuming that you're saying the flames will engulf the entire surface of the planet; nothing will be left unburnt.

But, if you meant the lazer would somehow be able to engulf the planet in it's ray BUT ONLY BURN the major cities that possess any mild threat to this alien species with a broad lazer that selects specific targets to burn in it's path, I apologize for my assumption. But, if it's that selective, couldn't it just pinpoint all the microscopic human lifeforms on the planet and engulf them in flames? Leaving the cities and farms untouched and ripe for the plucking.

Perhaps I'm just not getting a clear picture here...

On a lighter note, HELL YEAH I'm looking forward to the Host. It's a friggin' huge Lizard Frog that leaps about and gobbles up tiny, asian people! With any luck, this could obtain the same popularity as ID4.

Zibbs

If you engulf the planet in flames, everything burns; including natural resources.

UNLESS the aliens are after our oil!!!

They need fuel for their interstellar conquests.

Zibbs

But then that defeats the whole purpose of them invading.

If you recall the scene I dislike where the President is "brain attacked" by the captive alien and he suddenly KNOWS why the aliens are here, to steal our resources till the planet is barren, you'd realize that they don't want to blow up the planet with a big lazer they may or may not have.

Jeff Goldblum supports this further with his drunken solution of throwing random junk and garbage all over the floor.

"If we give the alien a cold..."

Zibbs

Going back to your ID4 question...

Sending smaller ships with smaller weapons is more efficient in regards to time management.

The aliens probably have a busy schedule to keep up with. Why waste time flying the huge mother ship from point to point to point to point around the Earth targeting different cities when you can unleash a small army of mini-mother ships to do your bidding in less time?

20 birds with 1 stone.

no problem, what's up?

Zibbs

Alright, expect me to show up at your house around 6.

If I can make it sooner, I will.

If anything happens, or plans change, message me.

If I'm at home, I'll be on AIM.

Zibbs

Alright, what time do you plan on leaving?

If I don't show up earlier, I'll probably arrive right before you guys leave.

Zibbs

Yea, but those are external factors that were taken into account while writing/producing the film.

Thus, the outcome of the plot.

Whereas, my pointers, I can't think of any reason why a writer or producer couldn't think of anything better.

Zibbs

Because you don't want to look like you're copying the Death Star from Star Wars for 2 reasons: A) that's just lame, and 2) for fear of being sued.

Didn't Titan A.E. take the blow up the whole planet approach?... Look how succesful they were.

Zibbs

Yea, and forget the Rotten Tomatoes review.

Even though the movie sounds pretty lame for my standards (if I had any), the visual effects look fucking kool and that's enough for me; hopefully it'll be better than "The Cell". Man, that was disappointing.

Zibbs

At the moment, I'm scheduled to work New Year's Eve till about 10:30 - 11.

However, I told them I would work both Xmas Eve and Xmas (and I did) but I might need New Years off.

So, depending on what my options are that evening, I'll probably end up working till around 11, than get off and go do something.

Tripwyre
Justin M 7 years ago

With regards to the Dahlia: I really wanted the movie to be good, and I don't think it was as messy as some made it out to be. The whole side-story about Eckhart's corruption really didn't do anything for me, but at least all the plots were resolved by the film's end. Really though, I can't tell if parts of the movie are bad on purpose. Certainly seemed like it, at times.

As far as top ten lists go, I decided not to make one, opting instead for a vaster 'Year in Review' list, mapping out *everything* I saw from the year, from best to worst. Ten spots to show love for all the movies I dug this year (especially considering how many supposedly great ones I have yet to see) just didn't do it for me. I went back and did the same for last year's list as well. Took a while, and I'm sure I'm missing some. Pretty sad to look at them together, too. A much weaker crop this time out (thus far). Nice to know someone values my opinion though. Heh.

Zibbs

I'm not sure about the Decepticons, but from what I could see of the Autobots, and the tanks being shotput, this looks pretty fucking sweet.

Zibbs

You'll probably end up seeing Night at the Museum this weekend, but I was wondering if you'd like to save Rocky Balboa for when you get back to see with Children of Men.

That way, Scooter and I can go see Museum along with Good Shepherd this Friday.

Let me know your thoughts.

Zibbs

So, it's not really significant, other than the fact it moves plot along.

And just a friendly reminder, "Proposition" is due back Tuesday.

carolinasl

Thanks for accepting to be my friend at Flixster!
I added you after reading your comment about Eragon...
it's definitely the best review about that movie I've seen so far! Brilliant.. specially that bit about Galbatorix - the evil king that just sits in his throne and looks at the camera! What a laugh =D
Unfortunately I'had already spent 4 euros to watch those "exceptional 104 minutes"...=/
Hope your next reviews will be about better films;)

Carolina

Zibbs

Other than money, any common sense stuff I should bring? (I'm usually bad at this).

Zibbs

Well, I went through all the trouble of rearranging my schedule, I might as well have fun.

Do I have to go online and buy the ticket myself or do I just buy it when I get there?

And do we have some "fast pass" or are we gonna be in line for 2 hours each ride?

Zibbs

Ok, I've gotten my shift coverd, and a backup.

So, if the ticket's under 50 bucks. Count me in.

Are we carpooling?

Zibbs

Ok, after I take my final final, I'll venture over to work and see what I can do.

Zibbs

The Proposition. No Problem.

Disneyland? Um... If I can somehow manage to switch schedules with someone that day... And if the ticket isn't over 50 bucks... I don't mind having fun.

Who else would be going?

Zibbs

I can buy diamonds.

Just not ones mined/dug from other countries. There are synthetically made ones here in America that are much cheaper than the "real" ones. They're made exactly the same way real ones are, only the thousands of years it takes to produce them is sped up inside some thermal machine that makes them.

So, as long as I buy those ones, I'm not killing anybody.

But if I do buy some, I'm buying them for myself. Let the bitch sucker Scooter into buying shit for her.

okay I will Dr. Zeek. I know deep in your heart you want to see Turistas. Somewhere deep down. Don't fight it.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

What are your thoughts on Turistas and Holiday for this weekend?

X-men 3 was awesome. I see what you're saying it wasn't epic, but you can't fault a movie just for its title. Are you excited for Magneto (2007). That is why it ended like that right?

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

yeah you're right nevermind. Thought it might have been in one theater around here but it must be really limited.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

Since we already saw 2 movies coming out this weekened, do you want to see Inland Empire?

Zibbs

1) It's one of the VHS's I got to steal from work that weekend.

2) I think it looks/sounds ridiculous. Why wouldn't I want to see it?

Zibbs

I've been watching the old Transformers series at Hollywood Video recently, and I'm deeply considering purchasing the boxset when I have money.

It's pretty much the same as the movie, except with a low quality soundtrack. But the one-liners are amazing.

Lustra

haha I can't believe them either. It wasn't terrible I just thought it had nothing going for it, the acting was a joke, the script was only good ocassionally, and the whole plot was ridiculous. Doesn't seem conducive to making a favorite list. Thanks for the tip though.

Let's go to that screening Tuesday. Later. I'm liking your new icon too.

Zibbs

It was Meat Loaf who played JB's father.

Meat Loaf is the big singing pussy in the Dr. Pepper commercial on my videos.

Zibbs

I figured as much.

I might not receive your message tomorrow; but if you have Ver Meer's number, call him and let him know you'll be seeing it too, since I'll be with him and Tim.

Otherwise, if plans change on my end, I'll call/message you.

"We have your son."

Tripwyre
Justin M 7 years ago

I agree actually, especially with the last line being what it is I was expecting to hear 'You Know My Name' kick in almost immediately. Thought it was kinda weird they went with the classic theme, but I guess that works too. Melodically it kind of becomes the score for the entire movie though, and I thought the movie was very well scored. So, yeah, definitely a fan of the song. But I understand what you're saying. Something more classic and soulful would have made more sense out of the gate.

Zibbs

I'm interested in Transformers, so let's work that into the schedule first.

I invited Ver Meer and Tim to go see Happy Feet and D on Friday; if they'd like to see Sodomy over Penguins, I'll ask them Thursday.

Zibbs

Haha, the other night, one of my favorite lady customers comes into Hollywood Video drunk to rent a movie. Neal decides to take advantage of her non-soberness and tries to sell her the DVD Cars and recommends that she watches "Everything is Illuminated" claiming: "It'll change you're life." After she leaves, and rents that movie, he tells me he's never seen that movie before.

Zibbs

Yea, you're right.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

ah yes i figured that.

Zibbs

I can probably go both evenings, I'm pretty sure I dont' work Wednesday, so I'll go both evenings with ya. It's not that I DON'T want to see Deja Vu or Fountain, I'm just not compelled to see them (you made me see Eight Below). So, I don't mind going to both, so long as we see Transformers one of those days.

Also, I have a favor to ask you, none of the Hollywood Videos in Orange County carry "From Russia With Love", so I was hoping I could borrow it from you while you're down here (preferably, you give it to me Wednesday, I watch it Thursday, and give it back to you Friday). Would you mind if I borrowed it?

Scooter000001
Scooter T 7 years ago

Hey White Chicks was brought to us by the people who brought us Don't Be a Menace to Society While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood!

Zibbs

Scooter doesn't count.

He's Scooter, it's to be expected from him; someone who enjoyed "White Chicks" WOULD want to see a movie that was promoted as: "From the people that brought you White Chicks!".

Zibbs

I actually found someone who WANTS to see "Little Man" - The lebanon girl named Aimeee in my comment section who asks me where I'm from.

Zibbs

Yeah.

We've also had this movie on our new release wall for a while now called "Zodiac", I thought it was a movie that was just kinda there, but then I saw the real "Zodiac" trailer at the theater and realized it was just another Hollywood Video scam.

Just like "Casino Royale".

Zibbs

Like most stores, we get our products a week in advance before we're allowed distribute/sell/rent them. When we get "New Release" rentals, we can either rent them before they come out, they date they are released, or after the initial 2 week period they are out; Hollywood Video does not want to lose the extra 5 bucks it can make on that one rental during that 2 week period.

I rented Casino Royale last night to watch, but read your message first; so I watched "Clockwork Orange" instead.

Zibbs

I can't rent it during that time. It comes out Tuesday and it's off limits for 2 weeks. But if you'd like to rent it, I suppose that's possible.

Let me know if you would like to watch it with me; I was just about to watch it, but decided to check my messages first. If not, I'll watch it tomorrow. Either way, you get "Turtles Can Fly".

Zibbs

Yea, I'll probably rent it when it comes out at Hollywood in a few months. Right now, I plan on watching the original Casino Royale to see how similar they are to one another; and because it should be funny.

The signature moment when I started enjoying the film was when the guy Bond is chasing hops over a plastered wall and Bond runs through it. I knew it couldn't be a bad movie with that scene in it.

Tripwyre
Justin M 7 years ago

Fair enough. And some people just hate Cornell. I happen to think he's got the best voice of his generation, so maybe I'm biased. Still think the song is a grower though, and a definite keeper. Hell, I'm listening to it right now.

As for people reading what you write... I probably hold your opinion in the highest regard of anyone on my contact list -- probably because it's usually a lot like mine. Heheh. Good reviews. Keep it up.

Tripwyre
Justin M 7 years ago

RE: Chris Cornell's 'You Know My Name'

Urge you to give the tune another chance, man. I too thought it to be fairly mediocre initially, but it's definitely a grower, and having listened to it a good 30 times at this point, well...I can't get enough. It's got the classic Bond feel to it, but buried beneath a modern grit -- much like the movie itself. Here's the YouTube vid:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuftPAl6Ypg&mode=related&search=

Not saying you'll change your mind, but I definitely dig it, even if it's getting slammed in many a review of the flick. Heh.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

yeah Jon isn't up yet but I'll ask when he gets up and then I'll call you.

Zibbs

So, here's what I had in mind for when you come down: Tenacious D and Happy Feet at the movies and Transformers at your house. A good solid 5 hours of fun.

If you have any other ideas, please let me know soon.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

You also want to see Half Nelson right? I see your rating as Want to See it, but I thought that you saw it and said it was really good.

Zibbs

What games/movies do you plan on getting with it?

Oh, and I'm sure I don't have to tell you this, but you should definitely hide that sucker in a lockbox or something whenever you leave the house; at least until new years. And no, that's not being paranoid, people have literally been mugged walking out of Best Buy's when buying new consoles. Speaking of which, bring some backup with you when you pick it up.

Zibbs

I tried that already. The hologram is exactly the size of the case, but the outer slip that holds the cover isn't; so when I put it in there and try to close the case, it bends (breaks) the hologram.

Zibbs

Sounds like a plan.

We do have Turtles, so I rented it today and will re-rent it when you get down here, in case some random foreign fan rents it.

There was only one thing that bummed me about the Transformers DVD, I went to pick it up and it had a hologram cover and I thought that was amazing!

...but then I removed the plastic wrap and found out it was just a hologram over the actual DVD case. So, it's like, "Great, now where am I gonna put this?"

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

Nice that will work for me

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 7 years ago

I've been wanting to see Half Nelson so I guess I prefer to see that on Friday, especially if this is the last chance at IV. Then we could see 007 earlier Friday or Sat/Sun/Mon whatever. When is Half Nelson on Friday?

Zibbs

Ok, I'll see if we have it in stock, or if any of the other 2 Hollywood Videos carry it.

What days are you gonna be down here, so I know when to rent it; and when should we watch Transformers?

Wow, as I was watching that trailer, I slowly began to think how this will probably be the worst movie Chris Walken will ever be in; making me more and more less "excited" to see it... But, then the last 30 seconds threw in enough references related to things that I enjoy that I can't NOT see it.

it's unbelievable how great the success was, the weekend box office over-under for it was 12 million, with Santa Clause 3 and Flushed Away predicted to make way more, because they were released to about 3,500 theaters. People had no idea how big Borat was. I bet this is the first time in history that the over/under box office was beaten by this much. I knew I should have bet on it.

Zibbs

I like how I have to write a speech in order to feel like I've explained myself and you can concur in 5 words or less.

It's almost poetic in some sense.

Zibbs

Look, I apologize if my last message seemed a little "aggressive." I probably took your previous comments a little too personally - in a criticizing sort of way.

But, I don't need you to understand my methods for picking movies, nor do I need you asking me rhetorical questions during the fact. Someone as smart as you should know that if I didn't rank the first two on my profile, then yes, I didn't watch the first two Evil Dead. Do you really need me to confirm that assumption for you?

Again, I apologize if I'm a little irritated, but I've been working on a paper all day that's due on Monday, and I'm not very good at restricting my bouts of frustration.

But to answer your question: (continued on next post)

Zibbs

(continued from above post)

I like trailers that hint at the possibilities that could and might occur during the film/game. (e.g., see the trailers in my video section).

Another example is the Marine trailer, you don't go to see a movie like the Marine because of the story or plot. So when they show excessive explosions followed by utter nonsense, it's bound to catch my interest.

One last time, I'm sorry for being an "asshole" about such a minor thing. But you know for a fact how much you try and get on my nerves: "Your reactions make it all worthwhile."

So, please, don't get so offended when I randomly snap at you. I'm not as invincible as you are.

Zibbs

This is the image of the DVD cover I picked up.

I don't read the summaries on the back of DVDs because they usually give away the plot setup. (e.g., John Dick was walking home one morning when the mob kidnapped his wife and demanded money. Now John has to blah blah... etcetera.)

Finally, I don't mind watching most movie series out of order (Empire Strikes Back). So, I'm not bothered by my mistake. Stop whining.

Zibbs

It's called: "Army of Darkness" I didn't realize it was part III of a series. But now I know.

I can only imagine how much better the first one is.

Yeah he does always repeat that he's pure evil, no conscience, isn't a human and whatever. But then does he just kill random people or does he have a reason for killing specific people? I guess it bugs me how he never talks (even if that is his character). You get no information and thus will never be able to answer questions like that.

happyscorpio2
Adeena Kelsch 7 years ago

So what did you think about the quotes? I just did another one today.
What do you think of the new Bat suite and Batmobile? I think that the Batmobile is absolutely awesome. And the suite is cool too, but I think he'd wear something a little bit more movable? What do ya think?

happyscorpio2
Adeena Kelsch 7 years ago

Hey what's up? I can tell you like Batman, I'm dedicating an entire week to Batman on my profile, with quotes that change every day. I love Batman Begins, because it was made by the same genius that Directed The Prestige, which is amazing! Christian Bale is an awesome actor. So they were right to cast him as Bruce Wayne. So, check out my profile, and tell me what you think about the movie, or just Batman in general.

Zibbs

Aren't all movies fictional? Why couldn't you form a movie around a big question mark character?

Documentaries are about specific perspectives, right? Couldn't some lame Hollywood screen writer make up something to create Jack the Ripper in his own vision? Perhaps, some radical, misandrist feminist who's had enough of male bullshit and decides to take matters into her own hands? JILL the Ripper?

Tripwyre
Justin M 7 years ago

The problem with your criticism of From Hell is that there is simply no other way of telling the story: the identity of The Ripper is one of history's great unsolved mysteries. Moore took an educated guess, but that's all it is -- a guess. You can't really build a movie around someone whose identity is complete question mark.

loganshearin
Logan 7 years ago

yo wots up bye bye

Zibbs

Well, that's because you settle for less. Loser.

And trust me, it is half-assed, but I'll fix it.

I tried finding you a blue cape at Costume Castle, but they only had brown Star Wars/LOTR drapes.

Zibbs

I spent all day trying to find a Dog the Bounty Hunter costume, and everywhere I went they were sold old, I was so bummed.

I've also been told that if I'm gonna bleech my hair it'll be fairly permanent, so that's outta the window.

Seeing as how fate wants me to half-ass halloween, I bought a leather vest, silly string, handcuffs, and baggy pants for my costume. I've got the sunglasses and some black shoes... anything else I should grab to look a little more authentic?...

Zibbs

What time is pussy on Sunday?...

Zibbs

Anyway, I asked how much it would probably cost to bleech my hair, and it turns out it'll probably cost just as much as Bear Mace. So, unless I can find a cheaper/easier way to do it, probably not.

Do I need to buy my train ticket ahead of time or do I just walk up when I'm ready to go?

Is it easy to walk to your apartment from the station or will I need a ride?

What time should I leave Sunday?

Zibbs

Yes. 20 bucks is the price of gas or a movie for me. 45 bucks is like 1/7 of my paycheck, and I wouldn't end up using it anyway (if I did, I'd probably get it on my hands and rub my eyes and go blind. And that's no good.

Zibbs

I don't feel like spending 45 dollars on an item that'll probably end up hurting me more than others.

Zibbs

All or Nothing.

Why half-ass a costume when I can BECOME Dog.

I plan on buying Silly String as "Bear Mace."

So, are you gonna be Lando, or do you have a better idea?

Zibbs

I would just need a black leather vest, some gray pants, and someone to bleech my hair, you know anyone (places) up there?

Zibbs

Ok, so what should I be?

Zibbs

You could be Lando. All you'd need is a white button-up shirt, a black vest, and a blue cape.

Zibbs

You could always be Batman for Halloween.

Hey there how are you?

does that pic fit you or some thing

Well, I was only interested in that one movie this week.

And Scooter's been hanging out with his special lady friend and assisting independent films and stuff recently. I felt those were more important for him than seeing a movie.

Zibbs

So, would you mind watching Departed again with Marine?

I base my movies on a "rewatchable" scale. I could watch "What Women Want" more times than "Mad Max" before I got bored and irritated.

Two stars means I kinda liked it, but it just didn't have enough "oomph" to get over that hill for me and make it an average "rewatchable" movie in my library.

If it makes you feel better, I technically haven't seen the movie in a year, so maybe I'll rewatch it and see if I change my mind.

Or it could just fade out and role credits after he's imprisoned. Simple enough.

I didn't mind the ending, it was just long. I kept waiting for the credits and the movie kept going.

Zibbs

Haha, I got Flixster to change the summary of the Wedding Singer... I had them switch "schizophrenic" with "sociopathic" when describing Adam Sandler's character, but I guess they insisted on keeping schizophrenic for describing the film...

Hey, his team saved the Earth, didn't they?

You can't argue with results.

Zibbs

Obviously, if it were easier to train astronauts to drill, they wouldn't have grabbed Bruce Willis and his team for help.

There goes that plot hole.

Ving Rhames as "Vic" in Vice City Stories?

Oh, and that last comment you posted to yourself... it wasn't sent to me.

Zibbs

Dude, some random girl just asked me "What's crackalakin?" on Flixster.

Now I KNOW we didn't come up with that ourselves.

Oh, and also, I pre-ordered Lego Star Wars II at work, it'll be around 38 bucks total. If you would prefer not to get it now with the discount (because Best Buy might have it cheaper?), let me know and I'll get my 5 bucks back.

Zibbs

Yea, that sounds more like me.

Yeah after all the praise about the movie I received from Jon I was expecting the movie to change my life. I don't know what is more amazing, that this is Jon's favorite movie or that Basic Instinct 2 is a close second.

Lustra
Mark Ninyo 8 years ago

Wooow a triple feature. At least you got to see the Lake House for a good price. I see it wasn't as bad as you thought, 2 stars. I guess you were expecting it to be so damn bad that it made it better.

X-Men? Sadly I still haven't seen it.......I was suppose to watch it today with my brother, but plans changed. I've heard alot of bad reviews of the movie and alot of good reviews. I'm just gonna have to watch it for myself......Any other movies you've seen lately?

Lustra
