JD's Review of Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (Kaub˘i Bibappu: Tengoku no Tobira)
Still to this day I think Cowboy Bebop is one of the best animated shows on television. The TV show itself was very dark, edgy and really character driven, pretty much the four main characters in the show had great character development and they each had a great story to tell. Cowboy Bebop also had stellar animation and I thought the noir tone made the show more unique. The show also had incredible music, the music always set the tone perfectly and it was also just nice to listen too. When the show ended a lot of people were not very happy with the ending, I for one thought the ending was really well done, I thought it was dark and I thought it was a very clever way to end the series. Well, then the movie came out and here's my review on it. Well, first off I gotta say that this movie is not better then the show, the show was much funnier and the characters were way more enjoyable, but that being said this movie was still very good. Spike, Jet, Faye and Edward all return for the movie and none of them let you down. They all supply great laughs and very interesting conversations, the action in this movie was also very well done. The action in the Cowboy Bebop movie was one thing that was a step up from the show because the action in this movie was more bloody and more entertaining to watch. Spike was also great in the movie, he was always my favorite character in the show and in the movie he didn't disappoint. Like, I said the movie is not better then the show by no means, but that still doesn't mean the movie isn't good. This movie is really good, it's obviously meant only for Cowboy Bebop fans, but oh well the movie still works. The Animation was well designed, the characters were great, the script was well written and the story was actually entertaining to watch. So, if your fans of the show give this movie a go, but you haven't seen the show, I suggest you watch it because the show is really good, probably one of the best shows that was on TV.
