Confessions of an Action Star

Very funny! Loved the concept. Leitch (who wrote and starred in this) obviously has a sense of humour like mine. Interesting to note that he is actually a stunt double for lots of famous action stars (including for Brad Pitt...which is probably how he managed to get Angelina to be in this). The Flashdance / Footloose / Rocky montage was great!!!

I kinda liked and appreciated the look and style that they were going for, but i dont think they quite pulled it off. I dont think this movie lived up to its potential....

Knocked Up
Knocked Up(2007)

Who doesn't know about the Delorian?!?!?
Very Funny movie!!

Every so often a movie comes along that is so akin to a rollercoaster ride, that we forgive that it has absolutely no storyline to speak of. A little long at 2:30 worth of cgi robot battle scenes, but pretty much watch i was expecting....its not a classic (as if anyone would think so) but worth a watch.

Wow - a train wreck of a movie, but so compelling. One of the rawest emotional scenes ive seen on film recently with the shooting at the locksmiths house. AMAZING!!

Ocean's Thirteen

Much better than the last one. Cleverly written, directed and acted....a pleasure to watch...

The Fountain
The Fountain(2006)

Honestly - one of the worst movies i have ever bothered to sit through. I wanted to enjoy it because i knew lots of people would think its all wonderfully surreal and moving, but i thought it tried way to hard and was repeatative and patronising..."Aronosky...i get the symbolism already!!! i got it the first 3 times i saw that scene!!!". Sorry if i seem ignorant....but i thought this movie was a big steaming TURD!!

Blades of Glory

"The night is a very dark time for me....", "It is for everyone, Moron!!", "Not for Alaskans and dudes with night vision googles!!" One of the best Will Ferrell movies I have seen! Hilarious!

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Surfer was cool. Storyline was a little weak. My 5 year old enjoyed it and I guess i could've had to sit thru alot worse movies with him. was worth the money (luckily it was a reduced daytime ticket price)

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End

I enjoyed it, but think they are starting to try a little hard. Not as good as the first 2...please...not a 4th...

Shrek the Third

OK....but not a touch on the first two.

28 Weeks Later...

Really enjoyed it. May not reccommed it to people, but i thought it was great. Liked seeing all the London sites i saw recently on holiday. Theme music is awesome and very fitting. Wasnt so sure about how, what i like to call, the "blair witch scene" fitted in...

So I Married an Axe Murderer

In my opinion, this is probably Mike Myers best. So many hilarious quotes to be had from this one. "We have a piper down!!"

Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider(2007)

Entertaining enough, albiet pretty cheesy and light on plot. Worth watching.

Black Snake Moan

Jackson owns this movie!!! Amazing performance!! Ricci does a great job too and manages to look damn sexy despite being the town slut and beaten up in half the scenes. Music is great too, but i didnt think Timberlake really nailed his part.

The Long Kiss Goodnight

Geena Davis was hot in this. Loved Sam Jacksons character too. Dont take it seriously and you will love this movie.

Rock Star
Rock Star(2001)

Any child of the 80's has gotta love this!!! Yeeeeeaaaaaaaawwwww!!!!

Sleepless in Seattle

Hanks and Ryan are wonderful togeather....they manage to make smaltzy crap really likable....

Die Hard
Die Hard(1988)

Bruce Willis is Die Hard!!! An absolute classic that set Bruce on a path to becoming one of the biggest drawcards in Hollywood.

Good Morning, Vietnam

Vietnam is hot!!! It's hot and wet!! Which is good if you are with a woman, but not if you're in the jungle!! Bloody funny movie!! Perfect vehicle for Robin Williams 'talent'.

The backwards style really takes some getting used to, but once you get the concept, it really is amazing and totally works for this story...great movie!

Point of No Return (The Assassin)

Not quite sure what it is about this movie (except maybe Bridget Fonda is HOT!) but I love it. It gave me an appreciation for Nina Simone too.

La Femme Nikita (Nikita)

I loved Luc Besson's work on Fifth Element and the Assassin is one of my all time favorite films, so i HAD to see this. It's pretty much exactly the same as the american version....just with subtitles and less hollywood 'gloss'.

Toy Story
Toy Story(1995)

The breakout film for Pixar!! Wonderful in every way!

Against the Ropes

I gave it an extra half a star just because of the way Meg looks on the cover....wah wah wee wah! ;)

Certainly wasn't critically aclaimed...but i loved it. I thought it was fulled with atmosphere and got completely caught up in it. (and im not a motor racing fan at all). Have seen it about 6 times now.

When Harry Met Sally

A fairly classic film. Everyone knows the cafe scene. And that Harry....he was onto something!! :-)

Far and Away
Far and Away(1992)

This launched tom and nicole into the public eye. Great film. I cant help wondering whether or not their relationship was 'real' tho

Saw III(2006)

Enjoyed the first one due to its originallity....havent really been into the the others for the lack of it...

Everyone raves about the Saw franchise....personally, I thought the first was pretty good, but really couldnt get into the sequels...enough already...

I think Michael Keaton must have taught Winona everything she knows about stealing in this movie, as he steals the show completely

Indecent Proposal

Money aint everything....

Wow - entirely unpleasant to watch....these people are awful...and yet incrediably powerful film, couldnt take my eyes of it.....wonderful and thought provoking...

Predicatable, but i liked it...

Snakes on a Plane

I think i found this funnier than i was supposed to....not in a good way. Campy and ridiculous, but i enjoyed it...

Single White Female

Bridget....marry me!!! :-)

Bana did what most wouldnt have the stomach for...he actually spent a heap of time withthe man himself and did a great job at becoming him... Im not sure that idolising the nut is a good idea, but it makes for a powerful film.

Unfortunately i watched this with someone that i had to spend the entire movie explaining things didnt help me enjoy it...

Out of the Blue (Aramoana)

Really good for a NZ film. I liked the way they didnt try to "hollywood it up"...and offered no explaination as to why Gray did what he did....cause at the end of the day no-one knows...

Very average

The Toxic Avenger

Funny, campy film...another one of those ones i watched on VHS wen i wasnt supposed to see it when my older brother hired it out....

Top Secret!
Top Secret!(1984)

I think this is the best Zucker's satire....better than Airplane by far

Looks like i picked the wrong week to give up smoking

Before Demi bought new breasts and dated children, back when Pat still had a career...they made a masterpeice of a movie. This movie will stand the test of time and remain in history forever. But, will it be this or Airplane that Jerry Zucker is remembered for??

Top Gun
Top Gun(1986)

Goose, Maverick, Ice Man....and Kelly McGillis (mmmm) 80's classic!

National Lampoon's European Vacation

One too many Lampoon's i think........

The Fugitive
The Fugitive(1993)

It wasn't was the one-armed man!! Great remake of the old classic!

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

The one that started it all. I was a complete Star Wars nut as a kid...and still love it.

Terminator 3 - Rise of the Machines

Many would say this wasnt as good as the previous chapters, but i loved it!

Thnking mans sci-fi....absolutely superb!!

Stunning!! Very apt title...the movie is like watching a car crash....

Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed

My son is mad on scooby doo...i found enough toungue in cheak throw backs to the original cartoon and adult one liners in this that it didnt drive me mad watching it...

Under Siege
Under Siege(1992)

Worth it just to see Erika Eleniak jump out of a cake!!

Falling Down
Falling Down(1993)

Absolutely classic scene in the fast food resturant!!

Assault on Precinct 13

Very 'raw' action/violence i thought....but not hollywood and not gratitious...shocking and very good.

I actually really enjoyed this. I think Gibson and Garner did a great job togeather...

Mickey Blue Eyes

I expected average, and it slightly exceeded my expectations....but not by much...

Saw (short film)

Enjoyed the first one due to its originallity....havent really been into the the others for the lack of it...

They should have stopped with this one. I enjoyed this film but the legacy of the TV series has spoilt the memory.

What Lies Beneath

Very scary movie. Harrison Ford does sinister very well!!

Logan's Run
Logan's Run(1976)

One of my all time favorite sci fi's. I remeber being totally addicted to the movie and the TV series as a kid. That ice cavern!!! :-)

Bad Boys II
Bad Boys II(2003)

Certainly not as good as the first one.

Office Space
Office Space(1999)

Wow!!! I worked in this place i think.....

The Island
The Island(2005)

Huge parallells to one of my all time favorites Logans Run and aparently a bit of a rip off of a movie called Clonus horror....I must try to find that. Absolutely loved this film.

Boiler Room
Boiler Room(2000)

Greed is good! thats Wall Street...but it fits! In this, greed makes for a great movie. I have a new appreciation for Giovanni Ribisi.

Another one of those ones i am ashamed to admit...but i loved it! Seen it several times now and enjoy it just as much as always. I just heard that Willard (Chris Penn) died the other day, age 40.

The Waterboy
The Waterboy(1998)

Funny as!! I remember seeing this at the theatre and it got a standing ovation at the end.

Happy Gilmore

Between this and Waterboy for the best Sandler movie IMO

I surprised myself and enjoyed it!

Club Dread
Club Dread(2004)

She's hot....thats about all it has going for it.

Con Air
Con Air(1997)

Wasn't highly thought of by the critics, but I loved it!! John Malkovich is great, and,'s Nick Cage!!

Deep Impact
Deep Impact(1998)

Very cheesy...but a little bit of cheese is just fine with me! Great cast!

The Family Man

Very funny! Nick gets some great leading ladies in his films!! ;)

City of Angels

Nick cage and Meg Ryan...great pairing and a fantastic soundtrack. Brilliant movie.

Gone in 60 Seconds (Gone in Sixty Seconds)

Loved it!! Nick Cage's character so cool...loved the low rider theme

It's Shrek!!! Gotta love!! say no more

Will Smith id an amazing job in this part....i was skeptical, but he really pulled it off.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

It was really good...but honestly i did expect more. I thought that the short clips on the Ali G show were better.

Tom cruise as a very bad grey haired bad guy.....masterful....

Critically acclaimed i know...but i found it boring....

Ever After: A Cinderella Story

Bit of a chick flick, but i actually really enjoyed it.

½ im not proud of this one.....but i thought this movie was great!! Loved the Tubes number in it....

The Warriors
The Warriors(1979)

I watched this one when i was a kid (my brother had it on VHS and i wasnt supposed to be watching it). It seemed so cool back then. Watched it again recently when the Playstation game came out and although pretty cheesy these days, I still loved it.... WARRIORS come out and playeyaaaaa

Broken Arrow
Broken Arrow(1996)

The movie itself is just kinda....ok. What makes it for me is that it's John Woo directing....gotta love that slow mo double gun action....

Epic Movie
Epic Movie(2007)

Please....somebody stop these guys making films.....

Monty Python's Life of Brian

He's not the mesiah...he's a naughty naughty boy. Classic Python.

The Jerk
The Jerk(1979)

I don't need anything.....except this film!!!

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Love Python!!! Im really looking forward to seeing Spamalot at the West End soon....

Gridiron Gang

Sounds like coach carter meets longest yard....and i ejoyed both of those. Always interested to see what the rock is capable of in his movies too.

Nice idea....didnt really "click" with me tho

Hot Fuzz
Hot Fuzz(2007)

A serious contender for the funniest movie of 2007! I loved the point break references

The War of the Worlds

The original movie version. It's a classic, even if it doesnt follow the book as much as i would have liked. I prefered Pal's adaptation of Time Machine, but still loved this movie.

Hg Wells War of the Worlds

I really liked this version. It would have been great to see what they could have done with this if they'd had the same budget as speilberg....

The War of the Worlds

I commend Hines attempt here, but the script, acting, editing and budget let him down terribly!!

I really wanted to love this after all i have read about it. There was parts that i did really like....but i just couldnt get into it. I did think there was some classic moments and lines....but......just a bit too weird

Natural Born Killers

I tried really hard to like it, but in the end maybe i wasn't stoned enough or something. Total shit!!

The Omen
The Omen(2006)

Maybe its cause I'm older, maybe its cause we are a bit more desensitised to this kind of film these days.....but this just didnt scare the pants off me like the original

Left Behind: World at War

It didnt suck....and yet it wasnt really good either....i really couldnt decide if i liked it or not. Maybe if i'd seen the other two?? Maybe the excessive religious messages were too much...i it yourself and see what you think...

House of Wax
House of Wax(2005)

The best thing about this was that they killed off Paris Hilton

Wolf Creek
Wolf Creek(2005)

OMG - i cant believe how many people "dont get" this movie. Yes is a formula or typical genre flick...but it supposed to be!! Yes its filmed in an amatuer style....its supposed to be!!! Yes, the acting comes across as improvised and pretty casual.....its supposed to be!!! What we are left with is a very non-hollywood horror/thriller that if you can pull the stick out of your butt and suspend a little disbelief, will scare the pants off you. I thought this was way better than most hollywood versions of this genre. The character development of the 3 main characters was great...and as for the lack of a backstory for Mick.....i dont think he needed it...sometime nutcase killers are that way for no reason at all! He lives in the outback...that would send anyone a little wacko.

Idle Hands
Idle Hands(1999)

Bizare.....but kinda funny.

Muppet Treasure Island

I loved the muppets when i was a kid! We've got cabin fever!!!

The Muppet Christmas Carol

I loved the muppets when i was a kid!

I, Robot
I, Robot(2004)

I just love classic sci-fi writers' work being done right in the movies.

Back to the Future

Groundbreaking. Brilliant!

The Fifth Element

One of the most fun sci-fi's i have seen. Mila was hot!

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

He was right - he was back and better than the first. G & R on the soundtrack was perfect!

The Terminator

Without a doubt Arnies swansong....the movie that made the man.

Loved the concept and the visuals...the explosion at the start was mind-blowing on the big screen. Also really liked the scene where he is hacking to music.....a little unrealistic but really cool.

Nacho Libre
Nacho Libre(2006)

Nice idea, and i had high hopes....maybe thats why i just didnt really think this hit the mark.....

Once Were Warriors

In my opinion probably the greatest movie to come out of NZ. Its not 'fun' to watch but it's a must see.

Blazing Saddles

Mel brooks best by far. Certainly one of my all time favorites.

The Castle
The Castle(1999)

This ones going straight into the pool room! Fantastic!

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang

Loved the quirky diaglogue

What a rollercoaster ride of a movie! Great ending!!

Dark Water
Dark Water(2005)

It was promising....but failed to hit the mark. I think i'll take a look at the Japanese version...its meant to be much better.

The New World

A bit slow moving. Promised a whole lot more.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

Well it wont win an academy award for best movie ever (like Highlander did!) but i thought this movie was great. Some really good one liners and Sacha Baron Cohen made a great villan.

Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump(1994)

A all-time classic and probably one of the best films ever made.

The Karate Kid

When i was a kid I wanted to BE the karate kid....maybe it was because he scored with Elizabeth Shue......

Loved the Gopher dance

The Hills Have Eyes

I watched the "unrated" dvd version and WOW! talk about gross....and yet strangely compelling, i was rivetted until the final credits....and fascinated by the "making off" documentary.

House of 1000 Corpses

Captain Spalding on the DVD titles is great! I was plesantly surprised by this movie.

The Wedding Singer

The 80's the way i'd love to remember it. When the underdog wins out, when Billy Idol helps save the day, when it was ok to dress like Michael and grow a mo like Magnum.....

Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor(2001)

Yes it's very hollywood.....yes its very over the top patriotic.....yes its smaltzy beyond belief...but I LOVED IT!!!

Promising....but didnt live up to its potential

Planet of the Apes

An absolute sci-fi classic....ageless.

Bowling for Columbine

Michael Moore is probably the cleverest guy in the world. He has realised that there is a buck to be made running down the establishment. You haven't fooled me Mike!

The Time Machine

A wonderful adaptation of HG Wells story. Despite it being 1960, George Pal (who also brought War or the Worlds to the big screen) has created award winning special effects and has done a wonderful job of creating a masterful sci fi that really stands the test of time (no pun intended)

The Time Machine

An ok movie on its own two feet....but it IS NOT the Time Machine. The 1960's version is one of my favorite films of all time but this version i dont think deserves to share the title.

Fahrenheit 9/11

I cant stand this guy!

I expected more.

The Postman
The Postman(1997)

Yeah, a complete vanity project....and could have done with much of it relegated to the cutting room floor.....but the more think about this film the less i hate it. I actually think i will watch it again some time soon.

Interview with the Vampire

Pitt and Cruise both nailed their parts. In my opinion this is the vampire movie to end all vampire movies. Fantastic!

Silent Hill
Silent Hill(2006)

Managed to capture the feeling of the game, but was brave enough to forge new ground also. Call me strange, but i like movies that dont always have a happy ending.

Pitch Black
Pitch Black(2000)

Wow...i'd use the word "break through"...when i saw this i didn't know much about it. It blew me away. I watched it again within days.

The Chronicles of Riddick

I loved Pitch Black.....i think Chronicles was an insult! A cash in.....and its very existence lessens the earlier film. I had such high hopes...and then i ended up struggling to even watch the whole thing.

Eight Legged Freaks

I remember watching the "Sunday Horrors" late on a sunday night....movies like Mothra and i loved this

The Blues Brothers

We're on a mission from god

Battlefield Earth

OMG....Scientology does NOT translate into good sci-fi. Travolta..what the F#*K were you thinking?!?

I first saw this on the big screen and the underwater scene with the big-teeth fish scared the ba-jesus out of me!

Gun kata...nice idea!

When this movie finished, I said..."That sucked! It was great!"...and that sums this up. I love bad sci-fi and this movie was very BAD

The Dukes of Hazzard

Memories of growing up in the 80's and those unusual developing feelings for Daisy came flooding back......

Lost In Translation

I watched this movie twice in the space of a month....a week before i went to Japan and a few days after i got back. Loved it both times for different reasons....

Highlander III: The Sorcerer (Highlander: The Final Dimension)

They shouldve called this..."highlander the final insult".....

Highlander: Endgame

Finally the Highlander franchise goes back to it's roots. Still not a patch on the original, this instalment is far better than the other sequels.

Can you feel that.....the quickening? Nah it's the promise of 2 decades of cash in. A shame really because, like the Matrix, this movie is a classic on its own and should have been left that way.

The Italian Job

What's not to love about this around in minis and looking at Charlize....yeah!!

One hell of a sick movie.....and one hell of a good watch....

Jeepers Creepers 2

Couldnt even manage to get thru this.

The Village
The Village(2004)

What the fuck!! Sorry M are too wierd for me!! I didnt find this A) believable...or B) enjoyable in any way

The Shaggy Dog

Got dragged to this by my son. Say no more....

Absultely brilliant in every way. A John Woo masterpeice....superbly cast and played.

United 93
United 93(2006)

Im still not sure just how much i liked this. I know i did in some capcity....but i think intrieged might be a better word. The intentional lack of any character development was an interesting element that would normally be a disaster but in this movie it did seem to work

Shaun of the Dead

This is what is playing out in my head every time i see a bad zombie movie. Great to see im not the only one that thinks like this.

Planet of the Apes

This movie infuriates me. As a die hard fan of the original, i dont think this movie deserves to share the title. And thats about all it shares!

I thought this "borrowed" a fair bit from lots of other alien visitation stories...but was still a great movie. M. Night has had some stinkers since this tho"

Loved seeing Keira like this, but the movie was kinda weak.

Fight Club
Fight Club(1999)

Awesome performance by both Ed and Brad. And meatloaf was just disturbing!

Romeo + Juliet

Excellent adaptation. Loved it. Especially Claire..... :-)

The Mod Squad

Starsky & Hutch

Only vaugely remember the original...and yet it seemed very familar. Really enjoyed this movie.

Hilarious!! Loved the gasoline fight!!

I expected more. Maybe i was hoping to see more elements of the original in there. A few wows tho. Still a good watch.

Minority Report

Great movie - in the vein of Blade Runner....and in my view, possibly better!

Scary Movie 4

Please Mr Zucker - stop it!!!

Sixteen Candles

oh...Molly....... :-)

Hack the planet!! A geeks dream in the 90' hang out with Angelina

Jerry Maguire

Will never forget seeing this for the first time. One of my all-time favorites.

Really enjoyed this. A shakespeare tragedy in the hood.

Miami Vice
Miami Vice(2006)

Fantastic!! Almost as good as the original ;-)
