If you don't rethink anything that just happened, it's good. I mean, probably a lesser version of Bourne.

Take This Waltz
½

Well done. Quick story, but long result. Overall depressing, but who doesn't love Michelle Williams?

Ruby Sparks
Ruby Sparks(2012)
½

Zoe Kazan is a beast, and of course Dano. Don't think enough credit was given here. Smart, funny, plus emotion.

Safety Not Guaranteed

Not really a movie for laughs, but solid all the way through with some holes. Good cast. No extra scenes.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

Lacking some depth, lacking some backbone. Lots of good things about it though, just need more. Keira's first good role in a while.

People Like Us

Very solid, smart and well done. Only problem was that it dragged on a little too long in the middle.

Prometheus
Prometheus(2012)

Fassbender kills it once again, but the story is a bit boring. You've seen it all before. Nothing in it is better than average unless you count the visuals.

The Master
The Master(2012)
½

Watch it more than once. Amazing stuff going on. Everything was good, everything. 65% audience approval? Think for once in your life.

Trouble with the Curve
½

Good story and acting, but something definitely missing. Needs some more punch. Lacks emotion like Powerball. Probably the first JT character I've liked though.

Moonrise Kingdom
½

Pure Wes Anderson. Pure awesome. Old school, funny, great scenes.

Gulliver's Travels

I mean it wasn't supposed to be good.

Boogie Nights

Tons of stuff going on here, Anderson does it well. Story lines, acting, 150 minutes of goods.

Annie Hall
Annie Hall(1977)

I mean, it's classic Woody. Should know what to expect going into it. Keaton is good.

The Next Three Days
½

Besides the fact the most of the movie isn't possible, there was a few smart things about it. A bunch of luck and a bunch of stupidity. Russell couldn't do it this time.

American Psycho

Sly, sarcastic, feel like it was better first time around.

The Last Kiss

"watch it at least 2 times, you'll like it more." That was a few years ago, watched again, movie is still good. Underrated by a lot. Powerful. Ridiculously good.

Casa de mi padre
½

Not entirely bad, laughed a few times. Some long parts though that aren't needed.

Shame
Shame(2011)

Honestly, there was nothing that great about it besides the acting. Some dude has a sex addiction and has a messed up life and can't handle his messed up sister.

Moon
Moon(2009)

Good, solid thinker. Rockwell killed it.

Friends With Kids

Lots of emotion, not a ton of a depth and Adam Scott's character is not believable at all. Jennifer Westfeldt is great, but she can't play the character that considers herself to be not pretty.

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

Feel good story, but nothing to spectacular. Kind of like all movies. Basically, you knew what was going to happen.

Man on a Ledge

Obviously most of things that happened could never happen in life, but who cares? It's a movie and it was entertaining. Goal complete.

Tiny Furniture

Everything you'd think it would be if you're a fan of Girls. Nothing really happens, but everything is real which makes it a decent movie.

Blue Like Jazz
½

Solid film. Everyone just hates religious based movies though. More than that going on.

The Hunter
The Hunter(2012)
½

If you like good scenery and great shots, and films with guys with beards that go into the woods, you'll like it. Honestly though, Dafoe gets the job done. It's more than a hunter in the woods story.

The Dark Knight Rises
½

Pretty darn good. Some flaws to the nuclear bomb, but you have to let that pass. A lot of people are bashing it because it wasn't the best of the three. It matched expectations and that's all that was needed.

The Amazing Spider-Man
½

Nothing special and not like it's better than the previous ones. Vastly similar to 10 years ago. Good cast though.

Big Miracle
Big Miracle(2012)
½

Decent, some acting flaws, but overall it gets your attention. Even if you don't know how real the movie actually is, who cares.

American Reunion
½

Old jokes, old script. Not that funny. Boring at times. Probably the worst of them.

21 Jump Street
½

Decently funny, but not anything great. Not an average comedy, but plain at times.

Jeff Who Lives at Home
½

Slow and purposeful. Everything you didn't expect it to be. Great last half.

Feast of Love
½

2nd watch: Pretty sure this is underrated. Solid film and acting. Guess reality hurts.

Project X
Project X(2012)
½

It wasn't THAT bad. Every adult hates this movie which drops the rating. But come on, you knew what the movie was going to be about so why watch it?

The Town
The Town(2010)

A lesser Gone Baby Gone. In the same vein, but still pretty stellar work from Ben.

Rampart
Rampart(2012)

Good acting, not sure about the rest. Woody at his best.

Casino
Casino(1995)

Classic and smart, but the length is somewhat annoying.

The Pill
The Pill(2011)
½

Surprisingly decent. Funny. Guy makes it about 80 minutes before telling the truth.

The Grey
The Grey(2012)

Good stuff, maybe could use some more background and less fake wolves. But intense. Everything you'd want out of it after seeing the trailers.

Fright Night
Fright Night(2011)
½

Pretty solid horror with a good cast. I mean, come on, Imogen Poots?

Marvel's The Avengers

Whedon makes it likeable for everyone. But again, it's a superhero movie, can only go so many ways. Plus, the use of pistols is way overused since they do pretty much nothing against aliens.

Sanctum
Sanctum(2011)
½

Alice Parkinson is terrible. Can't really enjoy the movie with terrible acting. It was okay overall.

The Vow
The Vow(2012)
½

I'm not gonna hate on a movie that ends with The Cure. So there's that. The acting was inconsistent at best. Can't hate on Rachel though.

The Five-Year Engagement
½

Seeing this type of relationship movie a lot lately, but there are still enough laughs to make it a decent movie to watch again.

The Muppets
The Muppets(2011)

Legitimately funny. Not a huge musical fan, but this works. Especially with Amy.

Last Night
Last Night(2011)
½

Keira is just not a relationship type of girl. And that's where the movie ends. Kind of pointless. Like Crazy kills it in almost every aspect.

Water for Elephants

Nothing new here. Okay story, okay acting. Big Fish was about 10x better.

Déjà Vu
Déjà Vu(2006)

Jim Ca-ca-ca-viezel.

Ratatouille
Ratatouille(2007)

Solid animation, great story.

3:10 to Yuma

Rusty and Christian

Like Crazy
Like Crazy(2011)

Exactly how it should have been done, good script, good music, good ending.

The Hunger Games
½

Pretty overrated. Camera all over the place which isn't needed. Editing during fights all over the place so it could stay PG13.

Young Adult
Young Adult(2011)
½

Hard to watch. Way too may people liked this movie. Good job Charlize, yeah. Maybe got two laughs out of it.

Take Shelter
Take Shelter(2011)

Chastain's work rate in 2011 is crazy. Shannon kills. Surprised this didn't get more awards. Slow moving and smart. Great camera.

Hugo
Hugo(2011)

Not really any flaws. Good story. Martin does it well.

Goon
Goon(2012)

Solid movie. Good laughs. Good lines. Lots of hockey action even though I don't like hockey.

Chloe
Chloe(2010)

Weird movie. Weirdly interesting. No, it's messed up.

In Time
In Time(2011)

The acting wasn't good, surprisingly but mainly because of the script. Will say the plot and story were great.

The Artist
The Artist(2011)

If you have doubts, ignore them. The Artist did the job. After the movie, you'll realize Jean is great, Berenice is your new favorite actress and you love dogs. Seriously, who likes talkies anyway?

Wanderlust
Wanderlust(2012)

Terrible idea. Terrible characters (excluding Ken Marino). No backbone. Terrible movie.

My Week with Marilyn
½

Awesome movie. Michelle W is a beast. Not sure how you can't like her. An acting movie that kills with a decent script.

The Tree of Life

20 minutes of random nature images and whispering? Maybe if you exclude that, it has a pretty good story and is a decent movie. Maybe.

The Good Girl
½

Yeah it's dark. Holden Caulfield has arrived.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
½

Great film. Slow, but that's what makes it good. Great music. Definitely worth a second watch. Great story.

Warrior
Warrior(2011)

We know one thing on their background and that is it. What happened, no one knows. Good, not great. Missing depth and realness.

Margin Call
Margin Call(2011)
½

Acting and story. All it needed and it worked.

Eat Pray Love

Book that shouldn't be turned into a movie. Completely all over the place.

Drive
Drive(2011)

Didn't know what I was getting myself into. Action flick turned slasher in matter of minutes. I'm not complaining. Well done.

I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell
½

Not that bad. Not great acting though. Easy movie to watch.

Chronicle
Chronicle(2012)
½

Pretty sure this overrated. It's good and all. Interesting.
If you throw up on yourself and have superpowers, things are going to start getting out of control. Protagonist turned Antagonist just like that.

Treacle Jr.
Treacle Jr.(2010)

Simple, yet awesome. Too underrated. Short and sweet.

The Trip
The Trip(2011)

You wonder how he got such good reviews for not being much, but there's tons of laughs. It's real life with long scenes. Just maybe a little too long to make it great.

Beginners
Beginners(2011)

One of many depressing and slow 2011 movies. Casted well. Done well. Arthur takes the cake. Laurent, the Bastard.

The Ides of March

Politics, Shmolotics. Great story dominated by acting. Did everything it set out to do.

The Help
The Help(2011)

There's a lot of haters because of stereotypes and everything is so one-sided. This is just one side of the story though and it was still over two hours long. If they wanted to include every possible angle from every race, it would be way too long. Quit complaining. Solid movie for what it's worth.

The Descendants

Very slow movie, but who cares? A lot of different stories going on. Part of the problem, but definitely something missing. It was like, yeah all this shit happened and it sucks, but you just get a feeling from Clooney that it doesn't suck that bad as much as it's supposed to.

Crazy, Stupid, Love.

So Emma never tells Gosling her last name or her parents names or that they got a divorce before their first meeting. If that huge flaw wasn't in there, it could've been great. Carell's roles are best when he doesn't try to be intentionally funny.

Contagion
Contagion(2011)

Tried to show emotion with Damon but there wasn't really any connection to begin with Gwyn. Too many story lines to make thick stories. That said, more Cotillard, less Fishburne. Overall, it got the job done.

Friends With Benefits

Wasted too much money on actors. Ratings are too high. Can't hate completely because of Mila and since Emma has a cameo.

One Day
One Day(2011)
½

Interesting. Good story. But it's patched together with no backbone. You can only like it so much until you're like why didn't they explain the reason for anything.

Moneyball
Moneyball(2011)
½

Pretty high percentage here, but mostly deserved. Not a big Jonah Hill fan. Good story though, much like Social Network, Sorkin does it again. Solid Bradley.

We Bought a Zoo

Felt like something was missing but a good movie.
Elle is a force. I mean you can't hate a movie about a zoo that isn't an animation.

The Adjustment Bureau

Good idea, bad ending. Better than expected. Good movie, need some more John Slattery though aka Dennis Martino/Roger Sterling.

Eagle Eye
Eagle Eye(2008)
½

Not a shia fan, but not bad at all. Not 26% bad at least.

Wrecked
Wrecked(2011)
½

Cost about 10 bucks to make. Not great. Not terrible. Brody in the woods, that's it.

Midnight in Paris
½

Nice cast. Any time a movie takes place in the jazz age, it's at least an 8.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Of course Andy Serkis was Caesar... he strikes again. Feels like it's missing something though.

Rise And Shine: The Jay Demerit Story

Some shoddy camera work. And bad transitions.

Our Idiot Brother
½

Actually not that bad. More than just a comedy.

The Hangover Part II

I mean it's basically the same movie. Why did everyone love the first one so much and hate this one?

Super 8
Super 8(2011)
½

After the first few minutes you know it's a good film. Can't say that about many. Kids were even good.

Angels And Airwaves Presents Love

Uh, no. There's one character and one theme and it's 80 minutes. What just happened?

The Exorcist
The Exorcist(1973)

Classic. Burstyn is great.

Sucker Punch
Sucker Punch(2011)

Main character wanted to cry entire movie. Pretty bad. Premise was all right. One star for Jena Malone.

Everything Must Go
½

Who doesn't like depressing movies with Will Ferrell? Seriously, if you like depression, watch this.

Let Me In
Let Me In(2010)

Pretty solid, especially for two kid actors. Although Casey Jones kills his role. Was waiting for him to pull out a cricket bat.

The 'Burbs
The 'Burbs(1989)

Anytime Donatello is in a movie and eating pizza, it's a good movie.

Win Win
Win Win(2011)

The kid isn't an actor, that's why he's terrible. Other than that, straight class and and script. Sarcastic and smart.

Apollo 18
Apollo 18(2011)

Unstoppable
Unstoppable(2010)

Take Me Home Tonight

Topher is not good when he gets mad

Submarine
Submarine(2011)

I must not be Welsh enough for this snoozer.

The Green Hornet

Rogen doesn't make it funny, Waltz makes it decent. At least it was tolerable.

Robin Hood
Robin Hood(2010)

I'm a tad partial to Gladiator.

Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids(2011)

Why all the love? It was boring and not that funny.

Gnomeo and Juliet
½

Very short and easy film to watch.

The Switch
The Switch(2010)

Aniston plays the same role in every movie. Just not very good, especially the picture on the movie cover.

Battle: Los Angeles

Some stupid character interactions, lots of action, but come on. Doesn't need to last 2 hours.

Bridesmaids
Bridesmaids(2011)
½

Lived up to the hype unlike Hangover. Wiig is great. Funny and smart movie.

Hall Pass
Hall Pass(2011)

A lot of stupidity, but had some decent laughs.

Just Go with It
½

Pretty terrible character development and not that funny.

I Am Number Four
½

A movie with characters we know nothing about. I guess it kept me interested.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
½

Pretty disappointing. Shia and Carey didn't even have a real relationship. All to ofake.

The Beaver
The Beaver(2011)
½

Good film, but missing something. Get ready to be depressed for the majority of the time.

Leaves of Grass
½

Wasn't that bad. Edward and Keri, not much to hate. Ironic. Shifts the mood a lot, but it works.

No Strings Attached

Like we didn't see this happening. BUT, you can't hate on Natalie too much.

Wall Street
Wall Street(1987)

Old school. Good movie, not great. Sheen isn't very good either.

Source Code

Good, wasn't blown away. Ending wasn't how I would have liked. No complaints for Jake though.

Cashback

Hereafter
Hereafter(2010)

Complete mediocrity.

How Do You Know

Pretty awkward and mostly not good. Not good acting either.

Limitless
Limitless(2011)

The King's Speech
½

Nothing to complain about, simple as that.

The A-Team
The A-Team(2010)

Wasn't great, but it kept me interested. Just an action movie where it's like this isn't possible and where did that come from?

Toy Story 3
Toy Story 3(2010)
½

Ratings are a little higher than I thought possible, but rightly so. To get true emotion from an animation is something.

Winter's Bone
½

Awesome movie. Lower public rating because people list it as boring. Far from it. Get engulfed by Jennifer's performance and how awesome the story is.

Never Let Me Go
½

Feels like the rating should be higher. Great movie. Powerful. Great story. Depressing, but good.

Blue Valentine
½

Good performances, I don't think I can completely back this movie though. Too depressing? Maybe a couple uplifting scenes.

The Virginity Hit

I mean, it wasn't THAT bad. Guess I didn't expect much going in. Not worth seeing unless you like camcorder movies, then, here you go.

Going the Distance
½

A lot of flaws and holes in the plot. Justin and Drew are great and it's more of a character movie, so I'll give a free pass in some categories.

Due Date
Due Date(2010)

Funny parts. That's it. RDJ does the role well. Wonder why the police didn't continue to pursue a stolen cop car.

The Other Guys
½

Funny, sarcastic stuff. If you're into cops and comedy, this is you. Maybe a little long, and I'm not a huge comedy person.

The Fighter
The Fighter(2010)
½

Awesome everywhere. Great acting. Great boxing scenes. Great movie.

Love and Other Drugs

Nothing groundbreaking. Watched it for the acting mainly, and that's all I got out of it. Usual boy/girl falling in love movie. Okay.

Dinner for Schmucks

Hard to watch. Tries to be an emotional movie at the end, but the first hour and a half were out of control. Really?

Letters to Juliet
½

I mean, it wasn't that bad for the kind of movie it was. Seyfried was good. But you've probably seen this movie 100 times before.

The Social Network
½

Pretty much flawless. The script stands out the most. Hard to give it movie of the year though.

HappyThankYouMorePlease

Respectable job by Radnor in his directing debut. Something missing to make it a good movie. Ackerman was great, but the rest of the cast was ho-hum.
