Having red the book and knowing the amount of violence involved in this story I wasn't sure if I would like the film, but decided to give it a shot and I am glad that I did! It captures the story beautifully! It is wonderfully cast, very moving and well worth the watch!
Great cast, Jane Horrocks is fantastic. Story could have probably been a bit better but definately worth a look!
This film was something of a shock to me! I read the books first and although don't usually enjoy the film as much after reading the book first this one managed to stay pretty faithful to the book. I am not sure that it is good enough to deserve all the hype around it but it really is very good .... and it doesn't hurt at all that the male cast are very nice to look at! lmao!
It was ok but they skipped too much of the book and I didn't like some of the alterations that were made to the parts of the book they did keep.
On the plus side - the casting was very good and I loved the look of the world they created!
Absolutely hilerious! Sid is in top form in this one!!
I really enjoyed this film! Of course, it is no-where near as good as the books, none of the films ever are, but as far as the movies go I think this is my favourite! Tom who plays Malfoy in particular deserves recognition for an outstanding performance in this installment!
I quite liked this! The actress playing Catherine got on my nerves abit but you can't go too far wrong with Jane Austen! lol!
I really enjoyed it! I am a Rik Mayall fan so am usually biased but I honestly think this is one ALOT of people could enjoy and I don't really understand why it wasn't a bigger hit than it was!
Rik show's us that he is a truely great actor in this film. We see a serious and sensitive side as well as the comic side he his better known for and pulls off both fantastically!
There really are some hileriously funny bits in this film!
Great film! It's such a feel good movie! I can't resist it!
So pleasantly surprised by this film!! I really wanted to see it but suspected that it would be awful - most films with the amount of hype around them as this one had are! It was however anything but a disappointment! Funny, moving, horrific - just brilliant!! Absolutely brilliant!!
I enjoyed this film! Had a nice message and really liked the ending!! Odviously great acting!!!
Awww - such a lovely film! NOT at all what I imagined it to be from the DVD covers and movie posters, but very sweet and very sad!!
Really sweet film! It was alittle predictable but really enjoyable none-the-less! My heart just broke for this poor girl - she just kept getting one heartbreak after another!
This was an interesting Drama. Jane Austen and her novels are time and time again used as a source for movies, but this one is a refreshing look at the end of her life. I thought it would be too like 'Becoming Jane' but it wasn't. It picks up after that section of Janes life. I really did like 'Miss Austen regrets but I was uncomfortable with the character of Jane. In this version of her life she is ambitious beyond what most writers/directors usually pretray her. She talks about money ALOT. Also she is a complete flirt. We dont know enough about Janes life to know that she wasn't like this but for some reason it did make me fell uncomfortable. I did however love the relationship shown between her and her family, especially with her niece and her brother, who was protrayed in a surprising gentle and wonderful way by Adrian Edmindson who is more often seen bashing people over the head with sausepans! lol!
It is a good film! I had read the book before hand and had been warned I may hate it for this reason! I didn't mind the changes of location and stuff though and thought it was cast really well! Some of the Irish accents were absolutely dreadful though!
