Movie Ratings and Reviews

Transformers: Age of Extinction

After about 90 minutes of watching explosion after explosion almost as big as plot holes, the movie just changed cities and did the same thing for another 75 minutes! Nothing about the human reaction to the circumstances depicted were in any way believable. The script was predictably cringe worthy, but that's normal for a Bay movie. Easily the worst transformer movie. Glad I didn't pay to see it!

A Million Ways to Die in the West

I liked the originality and had is moments when it was great, but Seth MacFarlane is just not believable as an actor and I had a hard time getting past that.

In Time
In Time(2011)

Original premise and enjoyable to watch. I wish Amanda seyfried and Olivia Wilde switched roles though!

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Incredibly long and not even anti-climactic because that wasn't even preceded by much action. Just a long, dry movie without much of a twist and a good cast to try to balance things out.

True Grit
True Grit(2010)

I don't get what all the hype is about. I get that it is a remake of a classic and the acting was terrific. However, the story was crap does that make up for it?

No Strings Attached

It was better than I thought it would be. It's nice to see one of these kinds of movies with a lead actress than can actually act.

Acting was terrible. Main character's background was textbook cliche (Misunderstood teen girl that no one will listen to). Villain was awful. Mainly this left me thinking it could have been a lot better with some effort.

This movie was a lot better than I figured it would be. However, it had too many plot holes that played way too big of a part of the movie to get better than 2 1/2 stars.

Let Me In
Let Me In(2010)

They did a good job of remaking this film without ruining it. I recommend both versions about equally.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

This was the most fun I've had watching a movie in a long time.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

A bit more disturbing than I was thinking it would be. Left me thinking the books probably do a lot more justice to the sub-plots that the movie didn't hit on very much.

Incredible movie. One of the best I've seen for sure.

Dear John
Dear John(2010)

Acting = Bad. Story = worse.

Pretty ordinary. Had a few moments, but what comedy doesn't? Was left unsure if there were any characters I was suppose to like, which makes it hard to care what happens. It was okay though for cheap entertainment.

Pretty disappointing. I don't think the movie can decide if its supposed to be a sports movie or otherwise. Also, don't assume Americans know rugby as well as basketball.

Gentlemen Broncos

I don't have words to express my feelings on this movie. It was just so far out there, even for Jared Hess. I did a lot of laughing for the first little while and overall its worth seeing. Totally bizarre!

The Blind Side

This is a great movie. Maybe I'm a sports movie sucker but this is a great story.

Hard to wrap my brain around for sure but I enjoy movies that require intelligence and are well done. This one definitely fits.

Paranormal Activity

I can't believe only 66% liked this. Best horror film I've seen in a long time.

Hysterical, awesome, and zombie.

Let the Right One In

Didn't bother me at all that it was a swedish film with english subtitles. Not sure how to describe it except to say its definitely worth seeing. Great original use of vampire theme, but not in a horror film kind of way. Good stuff.

District 9
District 9(2009)

Very original, captivating, and had a good ending. No wall left unsplattered either!

Funny People
Funny People(2009)

This could be my favorite comedy of the year. It was super long but I thought it had good messages as well as hysterical lines.

Plotholes aside (what else is new in a horror movie) it was betterthan a lot of scary movies I've seen lately. Kinda copies the Ring in the plot a bit though.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

I think they tried too hard to do too much in this one. Tried to create comedy roles for robots and to me that just seemed out of place. Action was great and while Megan Fox isn't an incredible actress, she certainly is eye candy. ;)

Drag Me to Hell

Kind of deceiving, I think the movie gets more reaction from the "fear factor" type of gross scenes than from the creepy/scary scenes. It ended up with more of a comical grossness but I think Alison Lohman is great regardless.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li

Would've liked to see more cool fighting since that was the premise of the movie... I suppose this movie didn't have a lot of credibility to begin with but there were so many loose ends and plot holes that maybe they should've just made it a fighting tournament instead of a story about her growing up.

Apparently I gave this 4 stars when I didn't know it was the finish of Firefly, but it's even better since it gave a good ending to a show that was cut too short. So basically don't worry about knowing the tv show because it's good anyway. Just better if you are familiar!

Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian

It had its funny moments so it was fine that way. Cheesier than the first one for sure though. But that's what happens when a movie tries to please too many age groups I guess.

The Uninvited

Seeing it twice may clear some confusion up, but the ending seemed to have a lot of inconsistencies and now I only a small idea of what actually occurred in the movie. The rest of the movie was good though.

Quantum of Solace

A good movie but not as good as Casino Royale. Plot was weak but action was good.

The Riddle
The Riddle(2007)

Slow getting started and understanding how the two main themes were connected. It seemed like a split movie for awhile and tied it together in the end. Average overall...

The Planet
The Planet(2006)

I wish ratings could go lower. Know how your body can pass out from pain? I think mine did by watching this. I couldn't finish it cuz it was so bad.

Pineapple Express

Probably way funny when you are as high as the characters and also if you go with your buddies. Still thought it was pretty good though.

The Rocker
The Rocker(2008)

Funny show, got an extra half star for showing Fish's butt for a solid minute. Hilarious

One Missed Call

Nothing original really here. Fake ending was better than the real surprise ending so they should have just made the movie 10 minutes shorter. Either way nothing too awesome but a little entertaining late at night.

Tropic Thunder

Very funny show. It was everything I hoped it would be.

The Perfect Witness

An interesting look into the soul of a killer and what drives them. Odd ending, but it was alright.

Encounters at the End of the World

An interesting look at the going-ons of people and animals in Antarctica. I especially liked the penguin insanity bit. Seals try to make techno music too, bet you didn't know that.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe (The X Files 2)

I knew beforehand there would be no aliens so I was prepared to accept that. So I really enjoyed the plot and its sick twists kept the x file vibe going. I loved it and am so glad they decided to take another run at it.

The Dark Knight

I think I've only given a handful of movies 5 stars. Absolutely amazing. Couldn't say enough of how much better this was than any other superhero movie. Surpassed the hype in my opinion.

Kung Fu Panda

I'm drunk on Panda Mystery! I liked how the dragon warrior blinded people with his awesomeness. Entertaining and funny show.

The Incredible Hulk

Never saw the other Hulk movie but Edward Norton is a good actor and the action was good. Ending made no sense to me but the rest was good. I'll totally see the sequel to find out what was meant at the end.

IIIIIII'm Sooorrrrrrrrrryy....FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF*****

Shaun of the Dead

Not the hype i was told it would be...but it was fun

The Orphanage

It was a really odd movie but came together nicely in the end with a twisted approach. Didn't know it was in spanish when I got it though...

Seriously, this movie was an hour too long. I know its based on true stuff so it has to have this ending but really I want a great ending if I am going to sit through a really slow movie for 2 1/2 hours. Cut out an hour and I'd give it an extra star.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I liked how it was X-Files-like and was entertaining for the most part. That's a hard trilogy to live up to and it definitely could've been better but it was ok.

Had some intense moments and was better than I expected it to be. Luke Wilson did a pretty good job for a vampire. (See X Files Bad Blood episode) :)

Iron Man
Iron Man(2008)

This is definitely better than I thought it would be when I first heard about it. Really well done and better than most of the superhero movies.

yeah i laughed a lot and thats what I wanted. really crude but funny

Wow are you kidding me? I laughed so hard in that movie and I don't think they meant for me to but I'm going to give this a comedy rating of three stars though considerably less if I had been looking to be scared out of my mind. Hilarious...

The Attic
The Attic(2007)

There was only small potential for this film to begin with but the acting was done I'm pretty sure by random people pulled of the street it was so bad. Avoid at all costs unless you are in the mood for the worst movie you'll see all year.

I don't think anyone actually talks like that but I had a lot of laughs so who cares? Music was really weird but it fit the movie. Michael Cera is one of my new favorite nerd actors.

For a Vegas movie I wouldn't say it was Oceans 11 good but I really liked it. Kevin Spacey is the man as always and I kinda want to go play blackjack all the sudden. Also props to the real guys who did it.

The Ruins
The Ruins(2008)

I saw this for the same reason I saw Shutter. I wanted a really bad scary movie to watch! I was hoping the evil they had to overcome would be a bit more scary. It was almost Darkness Falls on the unscary level. I did laugh a lot though.

I was in the mood for a bad movie and it satisfied nicely. I actually really enjoyed the movie but it's no movie of the year. If I'd been in the mood for something good I might've hated it so make sure you have the right attitude!

The Island
The Island(2005)

"Why haven't we done this before?" - Ewan McGregor. "I don't know, open your mouth." - Scarlett Johansson

The Reaping
The Reaping(2007)

I suppose I can be a gullible movie watcher sometimes but I enjoyed the twist on my perspective of the characters in the climax of the film. Overall better than I thought it would be but not wow amazing.

That synopsis is pretty inaccurate unless I really missed a bunch. Anyway, lots of great action and thrilling for most of the movie. Plot was kinda shallow but a fun movie anyway. Left a lot unexplained or without foundation but overlooking that it was pretty awesome.

Donnie Darko
Donnie Darko(2001)

Where do I start...I loved the way the pieces slowly fit together in a twisted sense of reality that bridged two places in time. Kinda like Butterfly Effect. I recommend reading the special features book on the dvd as it sheds a lot more light on the concepts at work in this movie.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (AVP 2)

Has everything a poorly scripted decently budgeted action movie should have. Entertaining if you're not too critical or demanding I guess. It was worth $1.50 anyway!

Cinderella Man

A long movie but a good one too. Russel Crowe not having huge muscles, unlike Rocky, kinda added to the underdog scene. Great cast and a great boxer gets the recognition he deserved.

Rambo (Rambo IV)

Only saw the last hour of the movie but I'm sure I just missed some foundation/build-up stuff. It was pretty much a guy movie paradise and thats about it.

How She Move
How She Move(2008)

Saw enough of the movie to know that it wasn't good. Typical predictable story. Missed the middle hour of it and watched the last 10 minutes but didn't feel like I missed anything important.

The Heartbreak Kid

Yeah not one of his best works but if ya just need some laughs then its good. I'd say the sex scenes were a bit unnecessary but welcome to hollywood!

I Am Legend
I Am Legend(2007)

Them be some uber-zombies. I don't know many viruses that let you unhinge your jaw and get superhuman strength but Will Smith did an incredible job of keeping a movie intriguing while having a one man cast. One of the better movies I've seen in awhile.

The Covenant
The Covenant(2006)

I really like the soundtrack to this movie. Nice special effects too and atmosphere.

It sounds like the character depth is probably far greater in the book because some "critical" storylines seemed almost pointless and distracting the way the movie through it all together. More funny than scary and the funny parts resulted from failed horror scenes usually.

Straightheads (Closure)

Typical revenge drama with nothing too extraordinary. Gillian Anderson is one of my favorite actresses though so she deserves a couple stars.

House of Wax
House of Wax(2005)

kind of a cool villain in this one. movie is kinda like Psycho meets Halloween but not quite as good.

Without a Paddle

very funny show that also created a bit of nostalgia. very good movie

30 Days of Night

I liked how they portrayed the vampires in this one. It's been awhile since a good vampire movie and way creepy music too

Silent Hill
Silent Hill(2006)

I'd probably give it a little higher but I didn't get the ending at all. The rest was kinda creepy and pretty good.

Resident Evil

Had as many holes as you'd expect from a video game movie but still entertaining.

28 Weeks Later...

The first was a little better but this was a good zombie flick too.

28 Days Later

Sweet zombie madness! And a real plot line too...well...for a zombie movie.

The 40 Year Old Virgin

pretty funny show. lots of good one line shots and awkward scenes

Office Space
Office Space(1999)

I'm pretty sure I have Peter's job...but I love everything about this movie.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

I can quote this one front and back and it never gets old. Awesome show.

Thought it would be more action not drama. It was a good story though.

A little better than the original in that it actually gave some background on Myers.

License to Wed

Maybe I liked it because Office characters get me all excited. Good for a chick flick though.

Balls of Fury

Tried too hard to be funny and came across a little awkward instead. I had higher expectations.

All science aside, this was a really cool movie with some good plot twists.

Rush Hour 3
Rush Hour 3(2007)

I just love rush hour movies, what can I say?

The Bourne Ultimatum

Yeah there's no way this movie wasn't going to rock. Not a dull moment and I wish they'd do more or these.

The Simpsons Movie

Anything you'd ever want from a simpsons movie I think. Very funny.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry

Jessica Biel is smokin' enough to balance out all the gaydar going off and it was pretty funny.

Dystopian futures are almost always a good theory to build on. This movie did it right. Collaborating pieces of 1984 and the Matrix was well done and the fight scenes rocked.

The Pride of the Yankees

Lou Gehrig will forever be an American icon and should be an example to all athletes. Great story about one of the best ever. Plus, Babe Ruth is in it so it's always a winner!

Delta Farce
Delta Farce(2007)

It definitely had its hysterical lines and just the kind of humor you'd expect from Larry the Cable Guy. Probably wouldn't see it again but a few parts still make me laugh just thinking about it.

Letters from Iwo Jima

I thought it was kinda slow getting going but in the end it really helped develop a concern for the characters and very beautifully constructed for a war movie.

I think I would've loved this if they had truly made the trilogy or whatever it was supposed to be. Still good but definitely meant to set up a lot of stuff that was left undone rather than be a great movie on its own.

Live Free or Die Hard

Who could ask for more? Explosions, completely impossible escapes and Bruce Willis. I kinda laughed at how ridiculous it was sometimes though...

First Born
First Born(2007)

Definitely one of the worst movies I've sat through. Not the horror I was hopin for, also not exciting at all.

Much better than I had thought it would be. Lots of action and likeable characters made it better than just a bunch of stuff blowing up.

Evan Almighty

Steve Carell looks like my dad. Automatically a funny show, but was funny anyway.

Could've rated it higher if it had a better ending but it was still a pretty scary show.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Just average, nothing too captivating about it really but it provided a few hours of entertainment. Logic and script sucked but thats ok I guess.

Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy

It was a funny movie but I dont think I'd put it in Will ferrell's top five movies even.

Dawn of the Dead

I'd say it was a waste of my life but it was one in the morning.

This was one of my favorite shows growing up.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End

Thrilling, funny and keira is freakin hot.

Rubin and Ed
Rubin and Ed(1991)

This is seriously way more odd than napoleon dynamite but it's a classic as far as I'm concerned. Hilarious...

Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3(2007)

Pretty good but a little too "hallmark". Spidey ain't supposed to be a tear-jerker.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters

Love the tv show so it was way funny to me. However, if you aren't familiar then don't bother.

Laughs, jumps, screams, creeps. It was good...not crazy good but good.

Nice to go back to the roots but it was a little cheesy.

Blades of Glory

Steady stream of hilarious comedy from start to finish. Can't go wrong with that cast, ya just can't.

I'm inspired to go date just a little now. Wish it was that easy though...

Not only is it a pretty funny movie but also a great story. Makes me wanna reflect and stuff.

Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider(2007)

I'm positive that this is the worst movie I've watched in a very, very long time. Script, action, whatever, it all sucked.

X-Men: The Last Stand

I thought it wasn't too bad as far as movies go but definitely less good than the others and has weird unexplained loopholes.

Pretty awesome choreography for fight scenes and just good stuff.

Final Destination 3

I liked this one the best out of the three movies.

The Hills Have Eyes

If you enjoy your stomach turning from gushing blood and stuff then you came to the right place. Otherwise don't bother...

Children of Men

I like the idea behind the movie. Dystopias are fascinating...not bad movie but not really captivating either.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

freakin hilarious...I got a lot of one liners from this one.

The Butterfly Effect

That movie was way cool. Made me think and stuff....

The Messengers

Had a scary scene and a promising intro. Bad dialogue and predictable grudge-like kids all over the place. It was alright.

Children of Dune

Pretty good film version of some of my favorite books.

One of the better sports movies I've ever seen. Maybe I just have a soft spot for football...wait is that a contradiction?

The Fountain
The Fountain(2006)

Holy crap I just wasted 100 minutes of my life. Maybe if I found the fountain and could live forever I'd be able to deal with watching that one again. Seriously, this movie could not tie anything together. sigh...that sucked.

We Are Marshall

best sports movie I've seen in awhile. pretty sweet...

Stranger Than Fiction

It ended up a lot better than I thought it would. A well done movie

Night at the Museum

Surprisingly funny and clean. One for the dvd collection.

Yeah I hope the book is better than the movie but now I'll never know. Totally turned off...

Princess Mononoke

Best anime movie I've seen

Howl's Moving Castle

Thats a trippy movie for realz

The Guardian
The Guardian(2006)

Even though a somewhat predictable climax it was still good.

The Illusionist

I was kinda lost until the end but then it was good.

The Last Samurai

I thought the story was good and sword action never hurts.

The Aviator
The Aviator(2004)

That movie sucked...couldn't even finish it.

Casino Royale

The best Bond movie I've seen. Finally not a dry, expressionless Bond character!

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

Hard to choose which of the trilogy takes third place but I suppose this one does in my eyes. War scenes are great and this covers a lot of ground in the story. Least favorite out of the three but still third on best ever movies so not a bad place to be!

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Very well done on setting everything up and including the critical parts and covering them well. Pretty much the best story ever...

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

I cried during the war scene. That tells you how good it was.

The Grudge 2
The Grudge 2(2006)

Laughed more than I jumped. I enjoyed it a little bit though. May have just been the girl I was with as she was yelling at the movie when people were about to die though....
