Somehow I expected so much more of this movie. I thought the emphasis would lie on the politics of Thatcher but instead it was on her illness and the fact that she no longer has control of her current life. Loved the real images in the movie and her imaginary husband Dennis who Thatcher survived, played by Jim Broadbent. Not a masterpiece but a movie I will watch again.
I can hardly call this a good movie because of all horror movies I have seen this one shows absolutely nothing new. The scenery and the lack of colours were attractive but it was not scary enough. When I left theatre I was asked by a lady entering and she asked if it was a good movie and I straight away replied "No, not at all." She seemed disappointed but she would have been even more disappointed after seeing it.
A political movie with a very interesting and emotional script which does not make it boring to watch. Supreme performances of both director George Clooney, Ryan Gosling & the ever-so-brilliant Philip Seymour Hoffman. Definitely worth watching. Unfortunately I will not remember this movie in a few years time.
The critics did not like it but I certainly did!
I don't remember much of the first movie and so my expectations were not high until my friend said she thought it was better than the first one. The film is of course predictable but the jokes are simple and the plot is not complicated. Many references to 007 and also to Kill Bill but that makes it awfully funny. Probably the best sequel I've seen in a while.
Not my favorite HP movie although this story brings a lot of interesting scenes and finally gives answers to plenty of mysteries. In this novel as well as in the movie I would have loved to see the story ending with the young Harry, not the adult version. It is so ridiculous.
Tilda Swindon shows her greatness in this movie based on a novel by Virginia Woolf. Tilda changes characters, gender and goes through centuries with such ease, she is convincing in all roles. Quentin Crisp portraying Queen Elizabeth is also worth watching. I'd like to read that novel.
This movie felt more like a drama until the last twenty minutes. Then the horror struck me painfully, almost balancing on the edge of too much, a bit of an overdose in the end. As a result I must say I have watched better horror before, both Japanese and non-Japanese. One watch is enough.
Sorry guys, all you "4 and 5 stars voters", please tell me what is so exciting about this movie? Are you all turncoats not daring to express that this is NOT a masterpiece like the media tries to make us believe? I talked to my Italian colleague about Fellini before I watched this movie. He said he usually falls asleep watching his movies. Now I know why he said that. I did not even make it as far as the middle. Most overrated director of all time! SKIP!
One of the finest British documentaries I have ever watched. 90% of it is made of archives, recordings of ordinary people, their joys and sorrows. At the same time writer / director Terence Davies made it very emotional by narrating his favourite poetry and adding classical as well as 60ies popular music. And he makes it funny as well by telling his own memories of Liverpool, just listen to this:
Rise, oh, rise. Oh, surely thou shalt rise. But not before the opening of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, inaugurated by Cardinal Heenan in his brand new frock - the Vatican's response to Schiaparelli. I had lived my spiritual and religious life under popes Pius XII, John XXIII and Clitoris the Umpteenth which is enough to turn anyone pagan.
Just needs to be watched if you want to submerge yourself in melancholic good old times.
It started off as a bad comedy but in the end it went just a little bit better and a little funnier, though honestly, it was still a low level comedy. I like to see Robin Williams perform comedy and he was the only one to make this 100% predictable family movie watchable. Barely watchable.
I could predict the end of this story long before the movie ended. Nevertheless it touched my heart. It was very hard to watch since I watched it the day after my own beloved grandmother died and we will bury her at the end of this week. This movie was so beautiful and touching and full of love. It's abolutely worth watching.
A thriller about stalking. It has quite a bit of Fatal Attraction in it but unfortunately it never reaches the standard of that 1987 thriller. It is a bit predictable that, for example, as usual, the LAPD always arrives one minute after the end of the fighting scene. Why? Otherwise we won't have anything exciting to show in a movie. Bit boring to realize that.
The only memorable picture of that movie to me will be a bald Sigourney Weaver being sniffed at by an ugly monster. The rest of the movie I slept, or I may have watched the clock on my mobile phone. Either way, it was boring beyond the extreme.
What is there to say about this movie? It was supposed to be a thriller ahead of its kind. I went to watch it on the big screen only this week, 25 years after its original release and the audience was laughing as if it were a comedy. I was not really affected by anything. To me it was just plain boredom throughout.
My kind of movies are all these flicks filled with short stories about love, hate, fear, passion, friendship, you name it. It ends in fun and drama, laughter and tears. This is a brilliant example. I'm looking forward to seeing the Shangai and Paris version.
Fantasic that the lovely Anthony Minghella will be remembered through this movie. I love it!
This raw and violent movie will tell you how corrupt our current society really is. Those who want to do something about it stand no chance, those who have enough money always win, whether they are correct or not. Welcome to the real world!
This thriller didn't feel like it was over two hours long. It speeded away in excitement and horror. The main role went to Isabelle Fuhrman and she was really brilliant, of course she had a little help with the make-up which made her even more scary in her "perfect" behaviour. What I thought was the best with this flick is that I could not guess what was wrong with this girl. My first thought was she was being possessed by dark forces, like in so many other movies. Find it out yourselves, it is worth watching.
