John Wick: Chapter 2

John Wick 2 aims to flesh out the ridiculous world that it had begun to unfurl in its predecessor, while still delivering over the top, ridiculous action set pieces, and in my opinion succeeds. A well made sequal that builds on the original in fun and interesting ways while still seeming new and fresh.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

felt bland, uninteresting, and completely unnecessary in the grander scheme of star wars. it's by every means fine and nothing stand out as being egregiously bad, but nothing terribly amazing either.

Me Before You

Incredibly predictable and emotionally manipulative. five minutes into the movie you might have an idea where it's heading, and sadly, you be correct.

Though there are some cliches, "Oculus" does have enough subtle chills and more than enough character to keep the movie running along at a crisp pace. Oculus is better than a story about a haunted mirror deserves to be. Every single actor does an amazing job, including the child actors. It some instances the children even do a better job than the adults. It's highly enjoyable and rarely do i say this but I would love Oculus to have a sequel or two. If you're like me and have been itching for a horror movie than you need to go and watch this.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

Anchorman 2 tries it's damndest to be as funny, if not funnier, than the first and falls flat as a flapjack. Far too long, far too boring, and far too late to be relevant.

Wish I Was Here

This spiritual successor to garden state never quite reaches the highs that one would expect. Wish I was here has plenty of laughs and just enough heart to recommend to friends and any family that can appreciate some dark humor. the plot is rushed along and it's not a perfect movie but damn was it fun.

Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

It wasn't nearly as good as the original but there is still enough fun to be had in this sequal/prequal.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Was the hobbit trilogy ever going to be as good as the lord of the rings trilogy? not a chance. was the hobbit trilogy enjoyable in its own right? Absolutely!! they were fun, big, epic movies and I can't wait to own them all so I can have two days full of middle earth fun while marathon watching them!

Since I saw the second trailer for Interstellar I made a point to stay away from discussions about the film, reviews, and any spoilers in general. I made the right decision. Interstellar is the type of film that you get the most out of it when you don't know what to expect. It's slow, quiet, emotional, and I mean that in the best way possible. Interstellar will likely be in my top five films of the year list, and with that being said, I don't know how I would convince anyone who knows nothing about it to watch it. It's quiet when it needs to be and loud when it has no other choice and I loved it. However, the movie isn't perfect. A few characters were extremely unlikable when I'm not sure they were meant to be and the ending may have rushed along a little too much for my liking. One thing is for certain, If I have a friend who is even mildly interested in watching Interstellar, I won't hesitate to sit them down and watch it with them when it comes to Blu-Ray.

The Purge: Anarchy

"The purge: anarchy" delivers on the interesting concept that the original failed to live up to. for one day (most) crime is completely legal for twelve hours. this delivers on the promised chaos of the original and as long as you know what you're getting into you won't be disappointed.

Transformers: Age of Extinction

It's a hour too long, The dialogue is almost at a spoof level, the violence and language are over the top, and i think you should gather around with a group of friends and laugh about how stupid this is. Sometimes it's in on the joke and other times it isn't, either way, it's worth getting some people and having a good dumb time.

Mr. Nobody
Mr. Nobody(2013)

I went into this movie not knowing what to expect and took away more than i could have expected. This film, when boiled down to it's simplest form, is about choice. How every small decision can shape your entire life. It takes the concept of the butterfly effect and running with it to almost always great effect. It's sci-fi and it's romance. It's dull and exciting. Until you see the film through to it's conclusion it all seems like a blur. I recommend that anyone who wants to be moved watch this. Watch it with a open mind and watch it until the very end.

Star Trek Into Darkness

"star trek into darkness" is worth the admission price and some. It paves the way for a bright future in the star trek franchise while still paying homage to the old series. every scene feels like it was lovingly written and every actor feels like they were "giving it all she has captain!". Even if you don't like star trek you should at least watch this one. It was a thrill to watch and i can't wait to watch it again.

Iron Man 3
Iron Man 3(2013)

this is a perfect way for marvel to start phase two of it's great story line. robert downy Jr. is in full form in Iron man 3 and the supporting cast does a great job as well. this is far more of a "adult" version of Iron man and it comes out better for it. it shows the darker sides of starks story as well as showing him opening up into his fatherly role for the group of avengers. there are a couple problems with the movie but none that make it any less enjoyable or fun to watch. this is a must see for anyone who likes big, insane, funny, and exciting action flicks.

Silver Linings Playbook

This movie starts off with a more serious than not tone. It's not long that the movie starts sprinkling in some darker humor to loosen the tension that is crafted, well enough, into the plot. A few quirky characters pop up every now and again and they all pull in solid performances that are rarely, if ever, cringe worthy with how they perform for the audience. At the start of the movie (Bradley Cooper) narrates more or less that life sucks and just for once why don't stories just have a happy ending? The ending of this film is precisely that, a happy ending for the sake of a happy ending. "Silver Linings Playbook" is a movie that not only satisfies the girlfriend, but the boyfriend as well without any guilt being pulled along the way. I didn't regret sitting in the theater the this films two hour run time and I don't think you will either.

Red Dawn
Red Dawn(2012)

This movie starts off very sloppy. It feels rushed and forced but I assure you that it quickly gains a story no matter how illogical it is. There are a lot of things that the movie just wants you to trust and not think about too much and I was fine with that. Evil Korea is enough for me to buy what the "wolverines" are doing. The action has a little too much shaky cam at times but if the shaky cam were to be taken out then the actions scenes are very solid. The acting is good all around and I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. I think that any action fan should check this movie out.

Hotel Transylvania

I went into this movie thinking that it was going to be near the level of "jack & Jill." Luckily I didn't have to deal with that bad of a movie. However, what I did deal with is a ton of wasted potential. It could have just been a buddy comedy about the monsters. In fact I would say make a sequel! I don't think this movie itself deserves one; but the concept of a CGI animated kids flick comedy monster mash is great and was wasted. The best character in the movie wasn't one of the monsters but the human played my Andy Samberg. He delivered almost every good joke that was in this. Great for kids but adults will have to idly sit by and wait for this long winded hour and a half one note joke to end. Not worth admission.

This movie is the best kind of good; surprisingly so! I didn't expect to sit down in the theater and be entertained. I had very low expectations and I was happy to have walked out of the theater with a smile on my face and the plans of recommending this film to not only people who like stop motion, not only people who like comedy, but horror as well. I wouldn't say that "Paranorman" is a children's movie. It's very adult in not only it's subject matter but how it treats the audience. I never felt like the movie was being tailored to children. It just feels like it was made to simply be a fun and frighteningly entertaining movie. If anyone is on the fence about this one they shouldn't be. CHECK IT OUT!

The Odd Life of Timothy Green

It's not a bad movie. If anything it's slightly boring at times. It's a live action disney family flick and as long as you don't go in expecting something amazing then I'm sure you AND your children will like it. There is enough for everyone to enjoy; even if slightly forgettable.

The Watch
The Watch(2012)

This movies cast is great. The jokes rarely miss and are delivered hilariously. The plot isn't original but the laughs are so good that it's hard not to love. Anyone who likes dirty nonsensical humor should definitely give it a watch.

The Dark Knight Rises

This movie isn't perfect. There are nearly a dozen things in it that I can say i didn't like. Even things that were just silly. However, with that being said, this is still a great movie. Anyone who is a fan of nolans previous two batman movies owes it to themselves to go and watch this in theaters. You won't regret it.

As someone who is a fan of family I found the movie entertaining and enjoyable to watch. I, however, was not the most entertained person in the audience. I lot of jokes fall flat on their face and expect that you will find them hilarious which was horrible. But I got what I expected. 90 minutes of peter griffin as a bear. Well worth the money if you like family guy.
