Tense and disturbing. The wife character annoyed me though, her hasty decisions were frustrating.

½

This was painfully poor. Not enjoyable at all.

Dope
Dope(2015)

Great soundtrack, funny and witty. Yet it lacked the enjoyment I hoped for.

Child 44
Child 44(2015)

You can't beat the original, but this has a great feel to it.

San Andreas(2015)
½

Surprisingly enjoyable. Sure, it's filled with unbelievable scenes and frustrating choices, but overall enjoyable.

Cop Car
Cop Car(2015)

Brilliantly entertaining.

Straight Outta Compton

By far the BEST film this year. A truly incredible story, soundtracks and acting. Authentic.

½

Face paced, cheesy and predictable. Brilliant.

Minions
Minions(2015)

If only the entire movie was as good as the trailer.

Ant-Man
Ant-Man(2015)
½

Apart from the glaringly obvious continuity mistakes throughout, this film is awesome. A totally different direction for Rudd, and it works.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Another fantastic installment of the much loved X-Men franchise.

Black Sea
Black Sea(2015)

Tense and un-predictable. Fantastic film.

Terminator Genisys

While enjoyable and included impressive CGI, the story was confusing and unnecessarily complex. Arnie was brilliant, as good as his original character in T2.

Mad Max: Fury Road
½

Fast paced, non-stop action. Love it.

Maggie
Maggie(2015)
½

Certainly not what I was expecting from a Arnie and Zombie combination, and although action-less, is a very strong character driven movie.

Kingsman: The Secret Service
½

Incredible. An enjoyable Tarantino-style modern Bond film.

Honeymoon
Honeymoon(2014)

Terrible. Neither of the characters were likeable, and the actors left me frustrated with their lack of chemistry for a supposed newly wed couple.

A Walk Among the Tombstones

Gritty and original. Let down only by the lack of character building.

POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold

Shows the extremes companies will go to, to see their product placed. Great documentary.

Incredible. Such a powerful and emotional movie.

Paddington
Paddington(2015)

What's not to love. It's Paddington.

Furious 7
Furious 7(2015)

Mindless violence, fast cars and humour. Everything you'd expect. It didn't have that F&F feel to it though, too much CGI and fight scenes rather than concentrating on the characters we all love. Very touching tribute to Paul Walker. RIP

The Imitation Game

Incredible, fascinating and intense.

Home
Home(2015)

As far as a children's animated movie goes, it's great. But it lacked the adult humour I've grown to love in most animated films. Short and sweet, great for kids.

Big Hero 6
Big Hero 6(2014)

What a fantastic film. I didn't realise it was an adaption of a Marvel comic until after, but now I know, it's obvious.

Shaun the Sheep Movie

Surprisingly funny. My 12month old son also enjoyed it, between long naps.

American Sniper

Brilliant film and an incredible true story, it was gripping throughout. It's not a glorified war movie and it certainly doesn't make him out to be an American Hero, he's just doing his job which he happens to be extraordinary at. It's up there with the great (imo) 'war' films of all time. I didn't hear a peep from anyone else in the cinema.

Bradley Cooper was bloody good too, I mean he must have put some serious weight on for the role, and completely changed the way he spoke.

The Guest
The Guest(2014)
½

Gripping, only let down by the final 15minutes.

The Drop
The Drop(2014)

The Equalizer
½

Gripping and violent, but lacked information on Robert's previous life.

The Interview

Mindless, humorous and risky.

Disney's A Christmas Carol

Amazing 3D... but that's about it.

The Maze Runner
½

Gripping, but lacked any real point. Leaves it open for a second?!

½

What a great story. I was totally unaware how such a classic film, Mary Poppins, came about.

Philomena
Philomena(2013)
½

A great, lovely film.

Captain Phillips

What an incredible story. It's hard to believe its true, and Richard Philips went through such a stressful and terrifying ordeal. Quite emotional too.

Only let down by (IMO) the pirate in charge, his acting seemed poor.

How I Live Now
½

Fantastic film, but lacked raw chemistry between the characters. No emotion.

The Call
The Call(2013)

Incredibly intense film. Brilliant.

I Spit on Your Grave 2

Kick-Ass 2
Kick-Ass 2(2013)
½

Unimpressed, in comparison to the first.

2 Guns
2 Guns(2013)

The character's bond reminded me of Bad Boys. Wahlberg is his usual dorky self. I really enjoyed this.

The Lone Ranger

Could have been so much more. The final ~20 mins were acceptable.

The Conjuring
½

It'll leave your hairs standing. Typical paranormal film. Not the worst I've seen.

Red 2
Red 2(2013)
½

Mindless, easy watch.

The Heat
The Heat(2013)

Great. McCarthy is becoming one of my favourite naturally funny actors.

Only God Forgives
½

A huge disappointment. Following on from the incredible film which was Drive, high expectations were not met.

Now You See Me

Easy watch. Great finale, but too much smoke and mirrors.

Monsters University

A prequel to the first, providing a story to Mike and Sully's friendship. Very funny and cute.

This Is the End

Original, hilarious, but bizarre.

Redemption
Redemption(2013)

'Crazy Joe' is an AWOL soldier living on the streets of London. He gets a break working for the Chinese, and kicks a few shades out of anyone he crosses; steals from the rich to give to the poor.

He's the typical bad guy with good intentions.

The Internship
½

Typical Vaughn/Wilson movie, dry, funny, enjoyable and easily watchable.

World War Z
World War Z(2013)

If zombies is your reason for watching this, you'll be disappointed. 28days meets I Am Legend, but not as well presented, lacks gore, suspense and any real character connection.

Man of Steel
Man of Steel(2013)

Too much CGI, fight scenes became tiresome. But the film itself was a worthy reboot.

After Earth
After Earth(2013)
½

There's no chemistry between them, considering the characters (and actors) are family. I didn't feel connected with it, far from Will's better films.

The Last Exorcism Part II

Terrible, should never have made a part 2.

The Purge
The Purge(2013)
½

This had so much potential. But instead, it had predictable plot holes and idiotic characters.

Epic
Epic(2013)

Great time passer.

Fast & Furious 6
½

No originality. The opening title and final scene left me wanting to watch the first 1-2, which in comparison are incredible. CGI overboard ruined it for me.

Star Trek Into Darkness
½

Fantastic in 3D, but left me slightly underwhelmed.

Iron Man 3
Iron Man 3(2013)

Hard not to compare to the previous two. Mediocre.

The Place Beyond The Pines

The Croods
The Croods(2013)
½

Family humour. Enjoyable.

½

Cruise, possibly at his best. Enjoyable.

Spring Breakers

Gangsta. Tits and ass. 4 college girls on spring break, but not as you know it, one leaves with an extra axe wound.

Dark Skies
Dark Skies(2013)

Poor acting, weak story, no suspense or jumpy moments as you'd expect.

Girls Against Boys
½

With plot holes more obvious than a victim missing a leg, the film is somewhat intriguing.

Trance
Trance(2013)

With Boyle's touch, it's hard not to like. In-depth story as always.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation
½

Cheese fest, but full of action as expected.

Upside Down

A very bizarre film. There's no emotion for either character, considering their circumstances.

Jack the Giant Slayer

Great take on an original idea.

Rio
Rio(2011)

Easy-going family film.

Identity Thief
½

Hilarious with a meaningful story behind. Enjoyed this,

Red Dawn
Red Dawn(2012)

Great idea, poor acting.

Side Effects
Side Effects(2013)
½

Incredible story, with an unpredictable outcome.

Parker
Parker(2013)
½

It's a good job for Statham, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

Stoker
Stoker(2013)
½

Well directed, but poorly executed. It builds up to a climax that never happens. If it was a book, you'd feel a few pages were missing. Creepy.

A Good Day To Die Hard

Action packed, but a weak story and OTT CGI lets it down.

Gangster Squad

Loved the setting and characters. Felt like a classic.

Les Misérables
½

I can appreciate a well made film, which this was. But I was left bored and itching for it to end.

Quartet
Quartet(2013)

Not my usual choice, but cute and funny.

Pitch Perfect

Teen chic flick. With catchy tracks to sing along to.

Skyfall
Skyfall(2012)
½

Too tired to understand, a re-watch is in order.

Django Unchained
½

Absolutely incredible. A must see.

This is 40
This is 40(2012)
½

Plenty of laugh out loud moments, but far too many scenes which could have been shortened. 30mins too long.

Hitchcock
Hitchcock(2012)
½

For anyone with a slight interest in Hitchcock's work, this delivers an insight into his private life during the shooting of Psycho. Hopkins portrays him well. Most will probably feel underwhelmed by a simplistic story. Ultimately it's a film about a film.

Flight
Flight(2012)

What a chain of events. You can't help but feel for the guy, yet in the same breath are frustrated by his actions. Great film.

Bullet to the Head
½

If you like the classics, you'll love this. Plenty of brutal fist fights, cheese and a see through story. It's short and to the point.

Lincoln
Lincoln(2012)
½

Incredible. Can only imagine what it must have been like to have lived in these times.

Movie 43
Movie 43(2013)
½

Apart from a few funny gags, it's a car crash.

The Last Stand

Cheesy, full of action and one liners. Arnie is back.

Wreck-it Ralph

Awesome in 3D. Humorous and plenty of references to retro games, loved it.

Compliance
Compliance(2012)

One of this years most powerful movies.

Texas Chainsaw
½

Putting the terrible acting and predictable killings aside; the story is believable and the gore is moderate (unlike most modern horrors who go overkill).

Life of Pi
Life of Pi(2012)
½

Stunning. An incredible story.

End of Watch
End of Watch(2012)
½

Just awesome. Bad boys meets police camera action.

Paranormal Activity 4

Awful, awful film. They should have left it at 3.

The Campaign
The Campaign(2012)
½

An easy watch. Hilarious.

Chained
Chained(2012)

Original. Unpredictable. Captivating.

Sinister
Sinister(2012)
½

Strange. Some of the killings were original, but overall the film was predictable and un-scary.

House at the End of the Street
½

Zero suspense, hardly a horror. Unpredictable story though.

Looper
Looper(2012)

Fast paced, original, unpredictable, enjoyable. One of the best sci-fi movies there are.

Killing Them Softly

Gritty, but not intense as the trailer would lead you to believe.

Now Is Good
Now Is Good(2012)

A very good British movie. Emotional and cute.

Anna Karenina

Very well directed, but lacked emotion with the characters. Terribly long.

Lawless
Lawless(2012)

Great story, and fantastically brutal in various scenes. However, I was disappointed with the chemistry between all characters.

The Sweeney
The Sweeney(2013)

Underwhelming. Better suited to a BBC series.

Dredd
Dredd(2012)

An action packed, brutal and funny 80's feeling movie. A classic.

A Few Best Men
½

Typical British comedy, warm. Kris Marshall is brilliant, his usual 'My Family' self.

The Possession

Poor story, suspense and effort.

Total Recall
Total Recall(2012)

Pretty decent. Typically cheesy, but plenty of action, chases and an amazing setting. I thought the story was decent, and pieced together well.

The Expendables 2

Wow. What an improvement over the first (I hated it, think I rated it 2); it was well scripted, funny, brutal and full of serious action. Seriously, this is how it should have been done. I can only imagine a different director/producer took this one on.

The original perceived them to be woody and unnatural, and felt amateur - this did not.

Headhunters
Headhunters(2012)

Captivating and original!

Keith Lemon: The Film
½

The modern 'Ali G'. Cringeworthy, laugh out loud and stupid.

The Wedding Video

A great rom-com, however with too many long winded scenes, this would have been better suited to a TV series. The Hound was hilarious mind, a great debut for him.

Ted
Ted(2012)
½

Wahlberg + essentially Family Guy = awesome. Proper laugh out loud 'Peter Griffin' humour. I will be watching this again. (marked down for a couple of slow scenes).

Dr Seuss' The Lorax
½

Great songs, but that's about it I'm afraid.

The Dark Knight Rises
½

Comparing to it's predecessor (hard not to), it's just not quite as good. Bane's voice was over-processed, making him sound comical. Still an incredible film, and rememborable ending.

ATM
ATM(2012)

Just how stupid do you need to be?

Killer Joe
Killer Joe(2012)

I had zero expectations for this, yet I was still disappointed. Shame.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

Unexpectedly romantic. Carell is a real character in this, and the two make a cute couple. Touching.

The Five-Year Engagement

Funny, romantic, yet I still felt it dragged in places.

Chernobyl Diaries
½

Awesome setting. Completely let down by the acting, story and attempt at suspense, in fact, the entire film was awful. Should have kept it simple.

Rock of Ages
Rock of Ages(2012)
½

Greece meets High School Musical. Fantastic music, acting and story, but a little too HSM for my liking. Pleasantly surprised.

Let Me In
Let Me In(2010)
½

A vampire film that hasn't been ruined by absurd gore and dozens of unnecessary deaths. Beautifully executed, a worthy remake.

Everything Must Go

It's a nice change to see a serious role played by Farrell, one of his best characters. This film exceeded my prejudgment.

Warrior
Warrior(2011)
½

An incredible story.

Snow White and the Huntsman
½

Hemsworth's Scottish accent was laughable, but his acting is as good as ever, he's becoming a new favourite for me. A great film, just not for me.

Prometheus
Prometheus(2012)

I came out of this feeling 'meh'. I felt it was underwhelming and lacked something (too tired to think what). I'm pleased at the questions it answered, and the new ones it prompted. Not a groundbreaker in comparison to its predecessors, which is hard not to compare to. As a standalone sci-fi it's fantastic.

Alien Resurrection

Pretty poor in comparison to its
predecessors.

Men in Black III

A strong story, good humour and fantastic 3D. It lacked the MIB feel the originals had, maybe I'm getting old.

What to Expect When You're Expecting

A great chick flick, but the lack of humour made it painful.

Alien3
Alien3(1992)

Great story, but frustrating actions by the prisoners when trying to contain the Alien. This film had that modern feel of stupidity.

Mr. Popper's Penguins

Fantastic kids/Sunday film. Easy watching, humorous, cute.

The Dictator
The Dictator(2012)
½

Comparing to Sacha's previous work (as it's hard not to), this is not as LOL as I'd hoped. It was sexist, racist and cringe worthy as expected, but I wanted more.

Dark Shadows
Dark Shadows(2012)
½

Shadows, is where this film should have stayed.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
½

Although a fantastic movie, and as graphical as the original, it didn't provide the same suspense or feel of depth to the story, Lisbeth isn't as 'strange', more 'punk' in this version. A very enjoyable film, but the original wins for me.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
½

An original film, with very little predictability for a crime movie. Enjoyable and disturbing.

The Raid: Redemption

This is one of those few films that has you gasping at the brutal kills, and shifting in your seat at the intense combat scenes. With only a handful of dialogue scenes, which is enough to set the story, this film delivers nothing short of AWESOME action. A classic. Huge thanks to CINEWORLD for their advanced screening for Unlimited card members.

Piranha 3DD
Piranha 3DD(2012)

It delivered boobs and gore, but little else.

Silent House
Silent House(2012)
½

Appreciating the single take, low budget
cinematography is about as far as it goes. It's slow, predictable and has an ending which doesn't feel polished enough for the cinema. Shame, as I have a huge liking for low budget/underrated films.

Alien
Alien(1979)

Just awesome. Sure the 'alien' wasn't convincing, but overall the film still has it.

Safe
Safe(2012)

Fantastic mindless violence. It's Statham after all, what more would you want?

American Reunion
½

It's great to see the original cast back together. Although very funny, it didn't have the same originality feel as the first two. Easy watching, silly humour, laugh out loud.

Marvel's The Avengers

Awesome! Fantastic in 3D, great humour (especially the Hulk), amazing cgi and non-stop action. Definitely one to watch twice at the cinema. Exceeded my high expectations.

Thor
Thor(2011)
½

Disappointing.

Our Idiot Brother
½

Slow, dry and didn't meet expectations, sounds like a one night stand.

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

I wanted to like this but, apart from a few chuckles, I found it hard to.

Lockout
Lockout(2012)

The opening scene had me thinking "what have I let myself in for", with the shocking CGI car bike chase. 'Snow' was a great character with his humour and straight talking. Enjoyable and surprisingly not predictable.

Gone
Gone(2012)
½

When you stop and think about the actual measures 'Jill' went to, to find her sister, which were all predicted by the killer, you realise it's laughable. Too many 'what ifs'.

Jack and Jill

Shocking. Sandler couldn't act alongside himself, it was woody and cringeworthy. Swardson however, was brilliantly funny as usual.

Contraband
Contraband(2012)
½

Being a 'Berg fan, this was a must see. Unfortunately, I felt the story was weak and predictable in places, and incredibly slow for the first 3rd. Overall an enjoyable film.

Battleship
Battleship(2012)
½

Great cgi, poor acting, like any another typical American blockbuster. I'm looking forward to 'Connect4'.

The Cabin in the Woods

Totally unexpected, possibly the most unique film I've seen. Well scripted and unpredictable story, with some great humour. Marty was hilarious.

Iron Man 2
Iron Man 2(2010)
½

Fantastic film, but marked down on the lack of action within the short fight scenes, and the annoying onscreen popups of intel.

Iron Man
Iron Man(2008)

Humorous, joyful and entertaining. I hope the 2nd is as good.

13
13(2011)

Great idea. Awful film.

Machine Gun Preacher

A blockbuster insight into Kony, and his reign of terror. An enjoyable film, and some great facts covered.

The Cold Light of Day
½

Far fetched situations, slow, disappointing.

Loosies
Loosies(2012)

Great story, lovely filmography, but it lacked a cinematic feel. Very amateurish, but enjoyable.

The Darkest Hour

Meh. Zero character building, emotion, background, plot, purpose...

Killer Elite
Killer Elite(2011)
½

A total let down considering the line-up. The story was weak, although the action was enjoyable.

Tower Heist
Tower Heist(2011)

Funny, however the plot was riddled with holes. Murphy was excellent though.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
½

"He can wash his hands all he wants, 'that' colour won't come off". A truly fantastic film. Only marked down on the early dispatch of Wilkinson, which didn't carry enough emotion to warrant it.

Project X
Project X(2012)
½

The love child of 'The Hangover', 'Superbad' and 'Chronicle'. With the poor reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by this film. It's unrestricted storyline left it open to unpredictability.

If you didn't come out of this film, wishing you attended the party, you're not the demographic. This was the ultimate party.

The Perfect Host

Bizarre. I had high hopes for this, but a story with little direction made it difficult to enjoy.

Safe House
Safe House(2012)
½

The first 10minutes started promising, but that changed towards the end. An enjoyable film, but little kept my attention.

The Woman in Black

I'd rate this 10 for the jumpy moments, but overall a disappointing film. Radcliffe was excellent however, and it's good to see him doing something new.

A Lonely Place to Die

Low budget, poor film. A couple of the deaths were good, and surprising. But overall it didn't grab me.

The Vow
The Vow(2012)
½

Slow, but strangely enjoyable. A tear jerker for those in love, as the thought of losing your loved one, to a frustrating situation.

50/50
50/50(2011)
½

Based on a true story, a great take on the misfortune of being diagnosed with cancer. A good balance of humour and emotion.

Man on a Ledge

A typical NYPD movie really. Bent cops, dirty fights, see through storyline. Still good though, and worth a watch.

The Grey
The Grey(2012)

In true Neeson style, nail biting drama and combat. Kept me griped throughout.

The After School Special
½

The ultimate teen movie. How did I miss this in 2000?!

Another Earth

What I liked most about this movie, you don't actually travel to 'Earth2'. They didn't need to take you on the literal journey, to demonstrate the impact it had/has on Earth.

It's low budget, but well thought out. Not your usual blockbuster movie, as you'll need your thinking cap on.

The Bridge
The Bridge(2006)

A very powerful documentary. Literally gasped at the footage of their falls.

Catch .44
Catch .44(2011)

This was a mediocre attempt at a Tarantino styled film. I enjoyed it, although the final 10minutes were too slow to pull off a good climax.

The Sitter
The Sitter(2011)

As a Jonah hill fan, this was a must watch. Although funny, it wasn't as 'side splitting' as I'd hoped.

Haywire
Haywire(2012)

Hardly any dialogue, but very realistic fighting and a great story. Gina is a great fighter (being ex MMA), but her acting wasn't great; it seemed very forced and unnatural.

Abduction
Abduction(2011)

The idea of the film sounds good, but my god, the acting was terrible from Taylor Lautner (Twilight, I'm sure he's only stared in crap films). With Maria Bello (A History of Violence) and Weaver (Alien / Avatar) I thought it would have been pretty good, but I was wrong. A waste of 90mins. It got 2, for the M3 and the few fight scenes.

Drive
Drive(2011)
½

An incredible, underrated, original film.

Arthur Christmas
½

Great 3D animation, humour, and a true Christmassy feel!

Trespass
Trespass(2011)

Better than expected. Simple, easy to watch.

The Debt
The Debt(2011)
½

A great film. Great story, very well delivered.

30 Minutes or Less

What a let down :( just not enough humour.

The Change-Up

Very funny! I liked this a lot.

I Don't Know How She Does It

I was expecting a lot less, so it pleasantly surprised me. A nice film. 'Not as good as the book' according to my wife.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
½

Although a great film, it didn't grab me. Maybe time I watched the original.

Friends With Benefits
½

A great rom com. Everything that 'No Strings Attached' failed to be. Very funny. 4.5/5

Wrecked
Wrecked(2011)

Similar to 'Buried' and '127 Hours', just not as well executed. 3/5.

Apollo 18
Apollo 18(2011)

A little far fetched. One for the conspiracy theorists or NASA geeks though. Think Paranormal Activity, but with no atmosphere.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Impressive CGI, and a great foundation for a reboot of the Planet of the Apes.

Final Destination 5
½

Meh. Poor acting, predictable as always, cheesy.

The Inbetweeners
½

Had a few laughs, but not a patch on the series. Still, would watch again.

The Devil's Double
½

A fascinating insight into the true story of Uday Hassein's body double. Exceeded my expectations, showing Uday was one sick bloke.

Super 8
Super 8(2011)
½

Great effects, and good story. Think 'E.T' or 'The Goonies', with a group of friends on an adventure.

Catfish
Catfish(2010)
½

Real or fake? Who knows, but it was totally unexpected.

Horrible Bosses
½

Far funnier than I was expecting!

Cars 2
Cars 2(2011)
½

Not a patch on the first. London looks great in animated 3D, but it's no Radiator Springs.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2
½

An awesome finale to 10 years of HP. It could have done with being longer, though, as it felt rushed compared with Part1.

Stake Land
Stake Land(2011)

This exceeded my expectations of a low budget film. An apocalypse vampire movie, following the journey of a duo.

Kung Fu Panda 2
½

It was merely 'ok', although the 3D was great.

X-Men: First Class
½

Fantastic prequel, giving a great perspective from the 'beginning' of X-Men. By far the best of the series. 9/10
