Movie Ratings and Reviews

Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story
½

Hilarious from start to finish, however just like a longer, very polished episode of the show.

South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut
½

A very fun ride. Hilarious satire on everything that manages to be both disgustingly crude and very intelligent. Fans of the show will appreciate it more, but any can enjoy this.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

One of the best comedies of the 80's

Troy
Troy(2004)
½

Long, bloated effort, stuffed with mind-numbing amounts of violence.

UHF
UHF(1989)
½

Being a big Weird Al fan, I can definitely say I appreciated the zany humor and parodies of movies and television, and think that many others could too if this wasn't so underrated. Don't pass up a chance to see this, its a good, and apart from the presence of some poorly recreated fallen off human limbs, clean laugh.

Hot Fuzz
Hot Fuzz(2007)

Thoroughly enjoyable and hilarious action spoof with a very unique enjoyable style.

Little Miss Sunshine

Sweet and often hilarious film with a stellar cast.

National Treasure
½

Fun mystery adventure flick

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium
½

Good cast in an inexplicably dull film with hardly any ideas. The special effects are impressive

Kung Pow! Enter the Fist
½

For 10 minutes of entertainment, this film is perfect. The rest, however, isn't much.

School of Rock

Jack Black gives an amazing comedic performance filled with energy and musical vibe. Can watch this movie again and again

Transformers
Transformers(2007)
½

I actually expected to enjoy this, not because I know much of Transformers but because of a surprisingly positive critical reaction all citing it as an enjoyable popcorn film with exhilarating action sequences. However, it wasn't much more to me than a confusing jumble of Cgi, which while impressive doesn't marry well with weak dialogue and an uneven story. Maybe one just for the fans

Shrek the Third
½

Amazing animation and an enthusiastic voice cast unfortunately don't quite save the next chapter in the already too large Shrek franchise, where the story and script is unfortunately not nearly as polished as the first two films and the emotion and charm are pretty much gone. The new characters, Arthur and Merlin, are woefully unfunny. Some funny moments, the polished look and the amiable nature of the whole thing add up to worthy entertainment, but Shrek fans may be quite upset they're unable to quite find the joys they shared with the last two films present around this one.

Mr. Bean's Holiday

Light-hearted, simple comedy - something that Rowan is great at and does well in this pleasant film.

Happy Feet
Happy Feet(2006)

Suffers like Robots, because despite good intentions, fine animation, a lot of cuteness, a fine cast, and of course: Robin Williams, it falters big time. Not even its deeper dip into enviromental education save it.

Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider(2007)

Undeniably stupid but it has a cheesey charm to it that shines occasionally.

Idiocracy
Idiocracy(2006)
½

A silly, hilarious and possibly very accurate satire of the future, it's not a documentary but it very well could be - Mike Judge is a genius

Twister
Twister(1996)
½

Some entertainment is offered when the Twister is tearing through things, but the love story is laughable.

True Lies
True Lies(1994)

Good action film that could've done with an ending about an hour less into it.

Nacho Libre
Nacho Libre(2006)

Had a great story, however, in the comedy field this one didnt always hit the mark. Enjoyable to watch and more original then the usual Hollywood stuff, and Jack Black is always likeable and this is no exception. Not quite there, but alright.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

Commercialized, franchise milking and dead boring. Save your money.

Ali G Indahouse
½

Can't match up to the improvised genius of the TV series, but very funny.

Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny
½

Hugely entertaining comedy action rock musical adventure.

Daft Punk & Leiji Matsumoto's Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem

Beautifully animated and says a lot without words and just Daft Punk's sensational music. Fans of Daft Punk will adore this, others should give it a try regardless, there is a lot to like in this great story.

Epic Movie
Epic Movie(2007)
½

Embarrassing to watch. Painfully unfunny and disgusting, and this is coming from someone who actually has a soft spot for the hugely hated Date Movie. Seriously, terrible.

Madagascar
Madagascar(2005)
½

Horrible. One or two funny gags don't save it from being a pop-culture infested gagless snore fest. Disappointing, and even more so that it's popular.

Robots
Robots(2005)
½

Disappointing CGI comedy with little to like apart from great animation and Robin Williams.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
½

Will Ferrell is usually hilarious so I expected him to deliver the comedy goods in this one. Unfortunately, he didn't quite cut it. Fine performance by him and Sacha but apart from a few funny parts it just didn't work. Go see Anchorman for Ferrell greatness.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Stunningly good to look at, another likeable Johnny Depp performance and humor throughout. Could have done without the Oompa Loompa songs but a great piece of work and offers a solid backstory to the characters we've know for a long time, particularly Wonka.

John Tucker Must Die
½

A truly mind-numbing experience. Hours of fun for teenage girls.

Napoleon Dynamite

Interesting project that isnt all that funny but is quirky enough to keep your interest the whole way with a few laughs here and there. Definitely worth a viewing.

Boytown
Boytown(2006)

Enthusiastic effort, sometimes likeable, but too gagless to be a comedy and too boring to be a drama.

Fun With Dick and Jane

Strange, starts out slow but builds up to a lot of fun, then goes slow again. Has some laughs in it, and the story at least will keep your interest firmly to the end.

Scooby-Doo
Scooby-Doo(2002)

Crudeness and poor CGI animation tell the tale of an old time cartoon that should never have been attempted ressurection in a hollywood film. Skip it.
