Edgar's Review of Requiem for a Dream
Requiem for a Dream(2000)
Aronofsky decides to step away from his truly evident talents as an avant-garde and experimental, independent movie-maker and decides to punish mainstream audiences in the process. Although this may have been a slightly disappointing and unexpected surprise for the fans of Pi (count me as one), Requiem for a Dream is actually superior in some aspects (although not in all of them). The set-up is perfectly constructed since the very beginning and the last 20 minutes have already become among the most memorable in American cinema.
