Beautifully acted and shot, the only thing that lets 'The Return' down is the weak storyline. The kids are just fantastic and the film has an austere semi-Tarkovskian beauty for sure.
A comedy that is like no other I have ever seen weird, complex and hilarious (on reflection). Will probably be remade horribly in Hollywood sometime soon, catch it before it's mangled out of shape.
Other than some dodgy bits about Transactional Analysis, a fine film overall with Rebecca Hall magnificent.
I had a feeling this would be a disappointment but how wrong I was. AJ is on top form and with a huge underlying layer of compassion and warmth underlying proceedings, unlike his earlier films perhaps.
Couldn't take it seriously due to the OTT Tom & Jerry violence and general feeling of fakeness. Leo great, Tom Hardy even greater.
