Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story
2 days ago via Rotten Tomatoes

This documentary deserves a 100 on the Tomatometer and Audience Score. It is without question one of the most interesting, fascinating, tragic, moving and inspirational documentaries we've ever seen. This incredible and complicated woman was a real "space shot" who on the one hand was lured by the glamor of the movie industry, and on the other hand was a genius whose expertise and intellectual gifts went unheralded in an age that denied women that distinction. She was a feminist way ahead of her time. The documentation of her complcated and riddled life is revelatory! Don't miss it.

Cinema Paradiso (Nuovo Cinema Paradiso)

This is about as close to a PERFECT film as anything I've ever seen! It is just as superb as when I saw it in the theater in the 80's. Marvlous.

Chappaquiddick

Jason Clarke plays a memorable Teddy. Many unanswered questions are left dangling but surely history will show that he atoned for his youthful indiscretions with his incredible service as the finest senator of the century.

The Death of Stalin

½

The post-Stalin Russkees knew how to play "hard ball". This was a well acted film that portrayed the evils and stupidity of the Malenkov/Bulganin/Kruschev/Molotov era in a most graphic way. The political humor was there but most often subsummed by the cruelty and nefarious scheming by the Stalinist proteges. Beria was a prime example of Soviet evil at its apex. Enjoyable, and a bit "over the top" but educational and "dark" nevertheless!
