I've changed my rating on this from 3 stars. Damn if this one didn't grow on me.

Prometheus (2012)

Above and beyond my expectations. Scott has made a semi-prequel in the Alien universe that stands on it's own. It's quite apparent that he hasn't lost his touch with what he created back in '79.

The pacing was perfect for a plot, thankfully that wasn't ponderous or left you feeling like you didn't know what the eff was going on.
For those looking for a direct link between the two might not get what they want.
Pardon the pun but I guess you can just take it on faith.

On a serperate nerdy note.
Giger's influence is back and for those in the know, will recognize the dome mounds as the original concept of the Harkonnen Castle for the film Dune.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Outstanding film.
This didn't try to rewrite anything which is a good thing. A totally original take on the series was a good move on the part of the writers.
My only complaint is that it was a bit slow at times.

I truly hope the creators of this film decide to right the wrongs of the abysmal 2001 remake.

Thor (2011)

Good but not great as far as some supehero film's I've seen.
This came out on a Friday. A mistake. Should have came out on Thursday, Thunor's or Thor's day if you prefer.

A few liberties were taken with the norse mythology. Heimdall carried Gjallarhorn which was nowhere to be found in the film and ironically was decribed as "the whitest of the gods". Don't know if the latter was a joke on part of people in charge of casting.
