Outstanding reinvention of the classic series, with a plot twist that allows for adventures of young versions of the Enterprise crew, while acknowledging all that's gone before.
I'll disagree with my friend who said this has to be seen in Imax to do it justice...we have a MegaScreen here in St. Louis which was awesome. Of course, it's bigger than Imax...
Anyway, an absolutely incredible movie. The Slate.com Culturefest podcast debated whether or not the reaction to Heath Ledger's Joker is overblown due to his death, and I certainly considered that while watching it, but I think that it would be acclaimed no matter what; it's an entirely different portrayal of the Joker than anyone's done before, and it works to a t.
