Rating History

A Monster Calls
26 days ago via Rotten Tomatoes

One of my favorite films of the year, A Monster Calls serves up a dose of something lacking in YA Cinema these days: a melancholy story that trusts its audience to process grief rather than avoid it. Complex and layered, this movie can be enjoyed even if you don't have children.

The Dark Knight
26 days ago via Rotten Tomatoes

As a story, The Dark Knight shines. As a superhero flick, The Dark Knight blows its peers out of the water. This is a thinking (wo)man's movie that also feels viscerally for its characters. Top-notch entertainment.

Dunkirk
Dunkirk (2017)
26 days ago via Rotten Tomatoes

As experienced in IMAX 70mm film, this movie is unlike anything you've ever seen. Just make sure to read up on the Battle of Dunkirk ahead of time to more fully appreciate the moviegoing experience.

Hard Candy
Hard Candy (2006)
26 days ago via Rotten Tomatoes

A grossly disturbing film that seemed more like a lesson in retribution than revelation.

Kubo and the Two Strings

Kubo is a fun adventure with an albeit not-so-tangible takeaway lesson. This pseudo-Asian tale may be worth the watch if you're in the mood for it.
