The Hateful Eight

I thought this film was very well made... the shots were gorgeous, the storytelling was strong and well-arranged. However, if you're a fan of Tarantino's faster-paced works (Kill Bill, Django Unchained, Inglorious Basterds, etc) then you may not enjoy the slower approach to storytelling that he takes in this film. The actors were all very strong in their respective roles, and I felt some Reservoir Dogs vibes throughout the film in how it handles its characters and in how it chooses to reveal its plot. Overall I felt like this film might not be everyone's favourite Tarantino film, but it is still a strong addition to his collective body of works, and showcases his talent for putting on a beautiful show.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens

While the pacing was a tad rushed, this film is a very strong beginning to the next generation of Star Wars films, and was a lovely mixture of nostalgia and new beginnings.

This film plays on action and buddy cop film stereotypes beautifully -- a genuinely hilarious experience.
