completely original and extremely charming. how to train your dragon is one of dreamworks' most character-driven films to date (which is awesome!). the movie was MADE with 3D in mind (unlike other movies recently...) so you really get the most "bang for your buck" with this one. i especially enjoyed the flying scenes where the "camera" places the audience on the back of the dragon--very thrilling! the animation continues to impress me--the fur on the characters jackets were extremely realistic i couldn't keep my eyes off it. i just wanted to run my fingers through it almost. haha! the voices were fantastic and the story moved along in perfect pace--enough going on to keep the most figety of viewers entertained (young kids). i had a very good time watching this movie and i know any movie-goer of any age will enjoy this film. SO GO SEE IT!!! :) in 3D!!
in terms of time travel science, not the most well-thought-out movie. BUT the characters are extremely vibrant and interesting. not to mention the fantastic 80's soundtrack and typical cliches. rob corddry steals the show, hands-down. plus, great cameos by crispin glover & chevy chase. mostly male-centric humor, but overall extremely warm-hearted with a "what if you could do it all over again" fairytale story that we can relate to. a perfect movie for the spring season. i think i will get this one on dvd. (they totally should have had john cusack hold a boom box at one point...but they didn't...oh well!! ahah!)
completely awful. too cheesy with not enough story or chemistry between the characters (despite amazing cast). definitely not what i had expected. too much gore and not enough "thrills & chills." the ending was stupid and the dialogue was very "lifetime original movie-esque."
One giant bucket of goo. Lifetime original movie gone big-screen. Too many "duh" factors in this movie for me really enjoy it--though I love Greg Kinnear. Miley Cyrus in a movie will always be just that-- "Miley in a movie." I do not think her popularity will allow her to really disappear into a real character unless she takes time away from the spotlight and returns again...(like jodie foster did).
fantastic performance by emily blunt!! beautiful costumes & soundtrack!! fantastically romantic...however the movie played as though it were only a one-sided story....what about the political aspects of her early reign? what did victoria accomplish? this movie focused too much on the romance and not enough on everything else...not that i'm REALLY complaining ;) but the movie seemed to end suddenly because of gaping holes in the story. nevertheless, it is still a beautiful picture and is worth seeing...especially if you are a fan of period pieces/romance.
