I'm happy this movie was made. Not the masterpiece or piece of **** some people have said it is but a bold movie with some interesting points nevertheless.
The film felt "big" and "small" at the same time. it seems like the movie is happening in few physical location though we skip between a few countries. I liked the pace and with the music it felt awesome though kind of obvious for the "slight of hand". You're not meant to actually see all the details. It's a very convoluted way of telling a story.
The whole love interest thing made zero sense and didn't feel impactful or interesting. it felt force and could easily be dropped.
Didn't think the story was very clever. it does show its hand from the beginning. was it part of idea?
The last 40-50 minutes were boring since everything was painfully obvious at this point. the whole action sequence leading to the ending was ridiculous. beautiful but very ridiculous. took me out of the movie.
re-watching the same scenes from new angles that don't add anything (it was already obvious) was boring.
While I gave it 3 stars I would still recommend it.
Same rating as the Stalone movie. in my eyes this movie got a lot of things right that the first didn't and for some reason took everything that was good about the Stalone movie and made it worse. This movie lacks in visual style that matches the universe of Judge Dredd and the "city" looked too contemporary and there was a noticeable lack of anything that felt like some messed up future version of a city like Mega-one.
It's the Raid Redemption meets your generic cop story in Dredd style. Annoying. you have a distinct setting for the movie and you watered it down.
I felt this movie had a lot of potential. The setting was interesting enough back in the day and the visual style was great. Sadly, the movie trips on its own story and a lackluster action.
Plenty of memorable scenes though.
this movie was so meh I couldn't believe how the Star Wars spirit been brutalized and butchered. not as bad as the rest of the 'new' movies but that isn't saying much.
Considering I'm not going into an in-depth why this sucks I'll just say, story and characters. it's full of gimmicks and falls flat.
Sadly, it's more mediocre writing and senseless characters. looks great and that's about it.
Star Wars had some depth in the past. hell, even 1-3 try. this movie? doesn't even try
