Manny's Review of The Hangover Part III
The Hangover Part III(2013)
What the fuck happened? As if the letdown that was The Hangover Part II wasn't bad enough along comes this tepid conclusion to the whole thing. I left Hangover Part III feeling more cheated than usual at the movies. The first Hangover left me more than exhilarated, the new one just left me feeling like everyone involved just did as they're told and went through the motions.
The saving grace comes in seeing the Wolfpack back together. That'd be Bradley Cooper as Phil, Ed Helms as Stu, Justin Bartha as Doug and Zach Galifianakis as misfit Alan. Another is in seeing John Goodman join in the shenanigans as a gangster the boys cross paths with that finds them back in Vegas where it all began.
You would think being back in Sin City would remind the folks involved, especially director Todd Phillips, what made the first Hangover so special, but its not happening. Save for the madcap presence of Ken Jeong's Mr. Chow, nothing works. The movie is practucally inert. One scene has Chow parachuting down the Vegas Strip cursing abut 'motherfuckres'. He may as well be talking about the movie. Hangover III is pure paycheck movie. It's not a movie so much as its a business proposition.
