I don't really know what to make of this movie. I LOVED the first half. After that, it was like looking into the headlight of an oncoming train: you know exactly what's coming, and you know it's going to hurt like hell, but you can't move. You just watch it anyway. Piper Perabo is a goddess, and this movie truly does justice to her talent. Be prepared to walk away a little jaded.
I just loved this movie. Very smart, very cute...I can't tell how many straight friends I've pissed off with this movie, because they feel bad for Heck and believe lesbianism is a sin, etc., etc. Still more than worth seeing.
Smack in the middle. It was absolutely hilarious the first time I watched it...and the second...and the third...and then it just got old. But even after it got old, the novelty hadn't yet worn off with regard to the public, and everywhere you went, you'd hear a catchphrase or someone reciting a scene verbatim...argh. Don't miss seeing it at least once, though.
Now...this is a tough one for me to review, because I had very mixed feelings about it. The storyline is -good-, but not -great-; it was believable, but not entirely so. It felt a little long. I might have liked it better if I hadn't started watching it at 4:30 in the morning.
You know, I really hated this movie. It was a good PREMISE for a film, but it just broke my heart. I couldn't deal with the concept that she was never going to get better, and things were never going to improve, so they were never going to truly get the chance to be close to each other. I just didn't like it.
It was shocking. It was disturbing. It was disgusting, on occasion. But it was still brilliant. The catch phrases are the best to hit the streets since Napoleon Dynamite, and the fact that it insults everyone on Earth more or less equally makes you feel better about laughing at it in the first place.
There is so much to be said for Will Farrell...and so much MORE to be said for Sacha Baron Cohen, a rising star in the truest sense of the word. That kiss had me dancing for hours afterward.
"I love crepes."
