Graham's Review of Life of Pi
Life of Pi(2012)
Quite beautiful to look at now, but I do wonder how long these effects will last until they look dated. The fantastical element means that they are never really super real in the first place.
It's an interesting tale and apparantly impossible to film. I haven't read the book, but this seems like an easy narrative to follow. It does seem to be masquerading as some sort of spritual allegory, but it comes across a great deal more simple. It's basically a triuph over adversity tale. Pretty to look at, but the waters aren't very deep.
A decent film, but not really what everyone is raving about. Maybe you have to see it on the big screen in 3D, but that shouldn't have to be the case in order to make a film good. It should just be good!
