Graham's Review of Mud
Another notch in the McConnaissance. Another sterling performance by McConaughey, playing the title character, but it's the child performances that make this a cracker. It's a story about one kid, Ellis, and his quest for love. After all the love seems to be falling apart in his life, he decides to help wanted criminal, Mud meet up with the love of his life Juniper.
Similar in tone to the likes of Stand By Me, it's not overlong, the characters are sympathetic and it's an interesting story, well paced with some worthy stakes.
Jeff Nichols just gets better and better.
