What a waste having Stormare play such a boring part, when he is capable of great madness! Having said that, I liked this movie. Great acting, lots of sci-fi references, good plot. A great way to spend Friday evening!
What can I say? As an action movie it's awesome. As an FF-movie it feels slightly off. I liked the way they gently moved Paul out of the franchise, I liked Kurt Russell's character, and I think we laughed quite a lot.
Not that everyone did. I dunno if they didn't catch the inside jokes or if they still believe that the FF is just action - it's action comedy.
And I'll definitely watch FF8 in the cinema, too.
It lost a full star cos it's NOT a Mad Max movie and would have been tons better if it hadn't been sold as one.
That said, it's a good action flick, well-made, great photography, 3D is sublime and well done, the cars are SO awesome (I want all of them). Charlize and Nicholas Hoult are the leads - Tom Hardy never really stood a chance against them.
Chappie has the sweetest and most expressive "ears" ever. South African English is extremely difficult for some to understand, and is quite unlike any other accent in the world. Neill Blomkamp's movies are the same. I think they're great and am eagerly looking forward to his next project!
A hilarious blood- and gorefest where characters die before you expect them too. Plot feels very Jaws-y and they've even dug up Richard Dreyfus.
