A bit slow moving and mildly entertaining. But still pretty solid if you look at it just as a sci-fi flick. The aliens were pretty unique. This focused on the way they communicate, which was also very good and original. We all got an English lesson on this one. And as it progresses, it shows a different take on even time. Not bad at all from a science/sci-fi perspective. But I can see people not being keen on this one. My wife fell asleep, so...
This was amazing. And the special effects were top notch. The way they move cities around to kill people and how people are running up walls was ridiculously awesome. And the transition of Dr. Strange into the sorcerer and the training of magic... i liked it. Waiting for #2.
John Wick is an "ex" assassin, and he has so much kick ass killer ability. The thing that makes this stand out a bit is that, he's not a completely unbelievable superhero killer. He is just very very accurate. His shots hit, his hits connect, and he plans 'most' of it out. There is a whole under layer of this movie where they show a bit of the assassin's 'guild?' and how payments and contracts are enacted. The black market commerce runs on gold coins. Two deaths in John Wick's family bring him out of retirement to get revenge. Good Shit. Very Action-y.
This left a shit ton of plot holes and gaps of wtf as you try to wonder how this all came about. But for the most part, you knock on the crazy house twice, the creatures will come. This had some pretty amazing moments, and it might be one of the top horrors for 2016.
This was pretty good. There was a bit of a twist, but we kind of figured it out pretty early on. A lab creates a girl with super-solider abilities in order to breed a better line of soldiers. They quickly realize this
This was hilarious. I really liked how talked about how no president in the history of the world wanted to take away guns from Americans... just maybe the ones with criminal records or mental disabilities shouldn't get them. David Cross is pretty liberal, so I can see Republicans and Trump-ites not being fond of this one.
Three kids try to rob a blind military ninja psychopath. They unravel a bunch more crazy than they ever wanted as the movie becomes a cat and mouse of the kids trying to run and hide from a super soldier who cannot see, but he can kill like the best of them.
Pretty good. This one shows a bunch of misfit kids with powers who are trapped in a time loop and need the help of a young boy visiting from the future in order to save them from the Samuel-L-Jackson creatures trying to eat their eyeballs... It's a bit weird, but entertaining.
*SPOILERS* What the hell did I watch? A girl becomes a model and she, at first, is the innocent nice girl who doesn't want to party or be like the other mean models. And you really think this is going to be one of those movies where she becomes as shitty as everyone else and it shows that it is just a cycle. HOWEVER, this ends in an acid trip of weird music and 70s effects. The girl turns out to be as shallow and one dimensional as you can imagine and the other models eat her... you don't really care because she's never really shown any kind of personality. Then one girl kills herself because she was crazy after eating her... the other two models were ok, though... what did we learn from this? Not sure. What was the point? No clue. Did this need to be two freakin' hours? No way. The small amount of T&A at the end couldn't save this.
Adam Sandler and David Spade decide to fake their deaths and live another life. The life they begin to live is far more interesting, but leads them to a much darker path. This one had a lot more going on than just comedy, and Adam Sandler got to act a bit more in a mature role. I really enjoyed this.
The idea was good. A high rise of rich people do whatever they want. Then the word ends and they get more crazy.... It left so many unanswered and plot holes along with not really doing much. I heard the book was ok-ish, but I was not impressed.
Kind of weird. This one has a girl who is writing a book about a writer writing a book, but in the second level down, that is who is the real story master and everything else is just part of the plot... and there are sex dolls... I'm not sure I really appreciated the complexity of this.
