Movie Ratings and Reviews

Jurassic World

Pleasant surprise. Really fun final act with a few "oh shit!" moments.

Was expecting to hate every moment. Enjoyed more than I didn't. Emotions aplenty.

I fucking love this movie.

Technically phenomenal. Keaton soars. Norton steals scenes. Five stars

The ending is pretty terrible, but it's still great.

See it for Michael Parks, he's amazing in it. However Smith can't balance comedy and horror. After being truly disturbed by Parks' scenes Smith cuts to over the top comedy compliments of Johnny Depp channeling a French Jerry Lewis.

Nymphomaniac: Volume I

Interesting enough, but it gets bogged down in philosophical art house clichà (C).

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

Fantastic. Andy Serkis gives an Oscar worthy performance.

Harkens back to action movies the 80's. Dumb fun with a few surprises up its sleep.

Hot Rod
Hot Rod(2007)

Hysterical, I'm a film student, and I know this movie is a piece of shit, but I loved it.

Kung Pow! Enter the Fist

Totally ahead of its time, think about those wild, absurd shows you see on Adult Swim.

Fired Up
Fired Up(2009)

An underappreciated genre piece that works thanks to the charisma of the two leads.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

It's like a slightly better version of 500 Days of Summer, only because 500 Days of Summer didn't have ANY action.

Samuel L. Jackson is the only reason this horribly cliche movie is worth two stars.

A technical masterpiece. The things Curon does with the camera are beautiful. But a weak script, far fetched plot drivers and a typical Hollywood ending make this a "Meh" film.

World War Z
World War Z(2013)

World War Z is a paint by numbers action movie. It's filled with rubbery CGI and interchangeable action that follows a very strict pattern: get on a plane, get to a new country, mass chaos ensues.

Predictable, formulaic, and lazy. Just like my review. Jeff Bridges isn't terrible in it, though.

You're Next
You're Next(2013)

Remember giggling with glee as you watched Kevin McCallister single handedly out-wit the wet bandits? Yeah, its like that - only gorier.

To Rome with Love

Certain stories are better than others.

The Conjuring

It's the performances that makes the movie freaky.

We're The Millers

Comedies are hard to review; all it needs to do is make you laugh and "We're The Millers" definitely kept the laughs least for me.

Man of Steel
Man of Steel(2013)

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's...something.

I Am Legend
I Am Legend(2007)

"I know I'm not the only one who hates this movie. And I mean HATE."

Ah how young and angry I was. While I still don't care for the film, I can now give credit where credit is due. Will Smith really is great in this flick. That being said, I'm still a huge fan of the original story, so for that I really hate what they did to the ending.

The Bay
The Bay(2012)

An effectively creepy docu-horror film.

While "The Bay" may not have any big jump scares, you'll still be feeling it after it's done.

Resident Evil: Retribution

Ten minutes after sneaking in, I left. Not because I was busted, but because I couldn't stand another second of the latest Paul W.S. Anderson masterpiece.

Street Fighter

The "Citizen Kane" of crap, but in a totally awesome way.

Taxi Driver
Taxi Driver(1976)

Holy fucking shit. It's amazing.

The Princess Bride

Good, overrated but good.

The Shawshank of slob comedy.

Wild Hogs
Wild Hogs(2007)

Why did I subject myself to this? I at least laughed once during Norbit.

Chasing Amy
Chasing Amy(1997)

This is Kevin Smith's best picture.

Why did I subject myself to this?

The Departed
The Departed(2006)

What's that? Oh, it's a twist, and a turn, and another twist, and another turn, AND A GUN!

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry

One star just because it did make me laugh...Could have been great, had a great story idea, but nope...

Knocked Up
Knocked Up(2007)

A classic comedy, we'll be telling our kids about this one one day.

Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny

The guiltiest guilty pleasure of them all.

Brotherhood of the Wolf

This movie is great. Awesome French Kung-Fu flick.

Live Free or Die Hard

Awesome freaking movie! Oh my god, I was blown away by this film, all the acting is great, the camera is amazing, that's what impressed me the most. Usually in action movies the camera tends to get very shakey IE: Transformers, MI:III, ect... but in this one the camera was very smooth, not rough, shakey, and handheld. John McClain has never been more bad ass than he is in this movie. The plot was amazing, very clever, the best PG-13 movie I've seen in a long time, and the best summer movie...ever.

Clerks II
Clerks II(2006)

It's a great movie, very good sequel to the original "Clerks."

Walk the Line

Although there isn't much to the story that hasn't already been seen before; the performances escalate this movie to a nearly classic title.

Super Size Me

Stupid. Everyone knows that McDonalds makes you fat. You uncovered the mystery Morgan Spurlock, you idiot.

King Arthur
King Arthur(2004)

If you see it, see the Director's Cut.

Bowling for Columbine

I don't like Michael Moore that much, but this is his best.

Curious George

This movie came out of no where, and was actually good. It was funny and just a great kids movie.

Chicken Run
Chicken Run(2000)

I know it's good, but not to me.

Surf's Up
Surf's Up(2007)

Really, really, really good!

Thank you Scott for dragging me to this one.

The Stepford Wives

Anything lower than half a star?

Super Mario Bros.

Say what you will...I enjoy it...3 stars for nostalgia.

One of the best comic book movies.

Back to the Future

One of my all time favorites.

Napoleon Dynamite

Can I give it something lower than half a star?

The Simpsons Movie

Amazingly funny, biting satire, with plain screwball humor. They really took advantage of fact that they didn't have to adhere to tv rules. Everything from nudity (male), to even small glimpse at Otto taking a hit from a bong. It was a great film, see it, this is going to win the oscar for best animated film.

Fun summer action flick, great popcorn movie. Shia LeBeouf has so much star power, it's amazing, that kid was the best part of the movie, the battles were fun, nothing too mind blowing (for me), then again I had just seen Live Free or Die Hard two nights before.

Child's Play
