Half way through the film when I realized I was about to watch it again I felt like I was wasting my time. Luckily, the film made itself interesting again. Not necessarily a moral lesson, but close, the film goes about the right way of connecting with people. Neither way gets the lead character laid however. Wholesome for when you need it.
Tries to make up for its lack of suspense with gross-out horror. The chase sequence from the dog feels a bit to out of the ordinary.
Examines the pathetic side of sorrow. A happy ending from the love a dog--all you need.
Fascinating twisted set pieces. It's hard to make such heavy imagery in today's landscape full of distractions and shortcuts.
Panahi is another master of Iranian style in using a sequence of everyday objects to convey profound meanings, a skill likely developed in survival of heavy censorship. The ending is a hybrid of magical realism and Blair Witch-style surprise.
This bit of black and white misery is relatable to any version of the working man.
Like the previous re-hash of the Spiderman brand, Homecoming relies heavily on lifting themes and plot twists from the Sam Raimi trilogy. Michael Keaton stands out as the film's saving grace.
After the exit of Jamie Foxx's character, the movie doesn't hold up much as an evolution of Baby's character. It turns into a violent tale with no center inspired by free will, which sips away the otherwise comic nature of the film into a gritty revenge fueled by discomforting hatred.
