Aaron's Review of Moonrise Kingdom
Wes Anderson. You defy categories, you crazy sonuvabitch. It's weird. Wes has this sort of style that permeates through his career that's humble and heart warming. I can't quite place it but it's always there. Certainly not in a Tim Burton "OMAGAD I'M TIM BURTOBLAHAHA" way either. It's a welcome coat of shine to all of Anderson's films. Moonrise Kingdom is a completely fearless movie about a boy and girl in what they genuinely hope is love. In their efforts to elope they happen to worry the best cast assembled for a Wes Anderson film. Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, and Edward Norton comb the small island looking for them, putting their own interests and underlying motivations aside. There are layers of stories present in Moonrise Kingdom that give it's innocent veneer gravity. There really isn't anything like this and it must be seen to be believed.
