Movie Ratings and Reviews

John Wick: Chapter 2

The best action movie since Mad Max: Fury Road.

An Imagine Dragons song plays at the end because they couldn't find a fart long enough to play over the credits.

Arrival is the best movie of the year, and to say any more would be to spoil it.

Deepwater Horizon

So much better than it has the right to be.

The Neon Demon

Overlong, self indulgent, schlock.

Finding Dory
Finding Dory(2016)

I'm 25 years old and a cartoon fish made me cry

10 Cloverfield Lane

Don't read, don't google, don't watch trailers. See this movie as soon as possible.

Dirty Grandpa

Crude and uninspired, but funny enough to get a pass.

The Peanuts Movie

The animation is gorgeous and the characters are cute, but there just isn't enough substance to make it great. It's an okay movie, Charlie Brown.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension

In an illogical twist, Paranormal Activity takes what made the other films so successful; the fear of the unknown, and turns it into a mess of CGI and predictable scares.

A little forced, but never not sincere. Bring tissues.

The Transporter Refueled

Saw it at a press screening tonight. I expected it to be bad, but not like this. The entire movie plays out like a student film with a $50M budget. All the male characters are competing for the Most Gravely Voice award. All the female characters are victims or sex objects, even when they're taking control of the situation. The most shocking and irredeemable part however, has to be when the villain shouts "I will rape you!" at the female lead, for absolutely no reason. This movie is offensively bad. Stay away.

30 Days of Night

Super action packed, gory, violent and horrifying! A must see for fans of horror movies and vampires!

Cinematography was amazing and the movie is easily the best horror movie since the Descent.

P.S. Thank you 30 Days of Night for making vampires scary again.

The Simpsons Movie

Amazing.. I mean, it's the god-damn penis-showing, bong-smoking, middle-finger-flipping, brother-punching, child-alcoholistic, MOTHERFUCKING SIMPSONS MOVIE! Wooohoo!!!!

The Dark Knight Rises

Genre defining epic conclusion. Nothing will top this for a long, long time.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Pacing issues aside, it was a journey worth taking.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Re-edited to be half an hour shorter and include all the obviously missing scenes between Peter and Gwen, this could have been great. As it stands, I am unimpressed, especially after The Avengers blew us away only two months ago.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

How anyone could dislike this movie is beyond me.

21 Jump Street

Hilarious and surprisingly clever.

The Hunger Games

Jennifer Lawrence single-handedly carries the weight of this enormous film.

Wrath of the Titans

Cool 3D, lame everything else.

Knocked Up
Knocked Up(2007)

Comedy at its best! How often do you find a truly hilarious film with a great moral?

The whole time I sat in the theater thinking to myself, 'I'm McLovin it.'

Act of Valor
Act of Valor(2012)

It had an interesting concept and some cool action scenes, but a cliched script, bad acting and shoddy camerawork really ruin the experience for me.

Brilliant pacing, brilliant acting, brilliant music, brilliant film. One of 2011's best.

The Invisible

Incredibly well acted, sad and hopeful movies in a long time. Moves past the teen drama clichà (C)s and builds on them. Highly recomended.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Loses steam about half way through, the 3D wasn't enough to keep me entertained for the duration of it's 140 minute runtime.

Total thrill from start to heart-stopping finish. Must see.

The Woman in Black

This ghost story doesn't have quite enough chills but serves as a decent jump off point for Daniel Radcliffe's post-Potter career.

Man on a Ledge

Sam Worthington's accent is so bad.

The Darkest Hour

Not good. Not bad. I just wanted popcorn.

Jurassic Park

My all time favorite. Nothing compares

The Hitcher
The Hitcher(2007)

sophia bush. i don't even know how else to describe this movie

Life in a Day

Beautiful, intense, emotional, exciting. Life in a Day is everything you expect in a documentary coming from the YouTube generation.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Just exhilaratingly awesome! Welcome back Dr. Jones.

"What's this, a school for ants?"

Classic Spielberg.

Lady and the Tramp

I was never too big on this movie..

Classic Disney. I watched this one a lot when I was younger. I like the mice. haha

The Mist
The Mist(2007)

Brilliant! The incredibly disturbing social commentary in the film totally outscares the creatures. Very well written screenplay and an excellent ending. See it!

Fool's Gold
Fool's Gold(2008)

This movie suprised me, I was expecting a romantic comedy, instead I got an action comedy. Has it's moments.

A cool idea with some incredible visuals. The film sets the stage and mood just perfect but never moves further enough out of remake-land to become truly spectacular.

Incredible idea, and brilliant direction make the movie. Christensen wasn't perfect but did a fine job conveying the character. The emotion and internal conflict are great near the end and the twist was excellently plotted.

Good Luck Chuck

Awesomely funny. Some gags are to die for.

Meet the Spartans

I'm not sure what to say, I had a good time at this movie, but I've also had a good time at the dentist high on laughing gas.

The movie is absolutly, incredibly stupid and it knows it. It's as if it was written by 12 year olds, rejected from Family Guy and picked up by the studio.

Although it was funny... well.. that's all it was. Mind numbing entertainment.

Shut off your brain, and Meet the Spartans.

Rambo (Rambo IV)

Totally wasn't expecting any of this. The movie was exhilarating, bloody, intense and an eye-opener to the horrors of genocide and exactly what is going on in the world.

Definatly a must-see film.

So intensely emotional. Sunshine is a genre-defying peice of art. The plot just gets better and better the further into the movie you get. A plot twist about 2/3 into the film definatly shakes things up a bit and was easily the highlight of the story arc. This is a film you must see, enjoy it.

I'm absolutly speachless. From the incredible opening, to the breathtaking finale, this movie does not let up. It's a rollercoaster of emotion, fear, paranoia and confusion and it certainly isn't something to be missed.

Dragon Wars
Dragon Wars(2007)

Poorly scriped mess.
And yet, still quite enjoyable. The special effects are awesome and some of the scenes are quite entertaining.
Go in expecting nothing, leave happy.

I Am Legend
I Am Legend(2007)

Terrifying, sad, and engaging throughout. Most intense movie I've seen since The Descent.

AVP - Alien Vs. Predator

'Whoever wins, we lose' was the tagline for this 2004 stinker, and we were right. Anyone who saw this movie lost a lot.
Single handedly killed both franchises. Avoid at all costs.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (AVP 2)

Although it was better than the first (how could it not be?) it's not saying much for the franchise.

For an R rated film, it was horribly tame, like watching the directors cut of a PG-13 film. And on top of that, nearly all the human kills happen off screen and the movie is generally too dark to see anything.

Even worse than the action was the acting, which made second grade christmas plays seem Oscar worthy.

If you're a die hard fan of the movies and you must watch it, pretend the humans don't exist and you may find some satisfaction.

It may have been Aliens Vs. Predator, but it looked like nobody won. Skip it.

Beautiful animation, terrible second act.

Shoot 'Em Up
Shoot 'Em Up(2007)

Hands down, best action movie I've ever seen. This movie has balls, and it knows how to use them.

Pretty funny, not as bad as I thought it would be.

The Comebacks

Unlike Epic Movie, 'The Comebacks' is watchable. Don't have any expectations and you may enjoy yourself.

So innocently cute and funny. The movie is charming and uses a very special kind of humour. Ignore the R rating, this one shoulda been PG-13.

Dog Soldiers
Dog Soldiers(2002)

Super entertaining! Really funny, kinda scary and super tense. Acting is great and the writing is superb. Check this one out.

Pretty Cool
Pretty Cool(2006)

So bad... in a good kind of way. The script isn't very funny, but the film itself is hilarious. It's like watching Late Friday Night Cable TV: The Movie.

Really, really well made. Extreamly gory, very nerve racking and full of boobs, teenage sex and other horror movie clichés. The acting was great on the most part and the musical score was phenomenal.

Rush Hour 3
Rush Hour 3(2007)

Action was okay, but Chan and Tucker's preformances were weak seemed bored.

The Host
The Host(2007)

Awesome Korean film. It's less about the monster and the goverement and more about the family searching for their lost kin. The film takes on touching issues and has a great morale to it. I strongly reccomend it.

The Neverending Story

I loved it when I was a kid! and now too!

Dawn of the Dead

On par with '28 Days Later', this film opts for a more action oriented feel instead of the usual 'jump out of the shadow' scares.

Focuses more on character devellopment than the violence and really makes this a movie worth checking out.

The Descent
The Descent(2006)

The ending went a little nuts but it was simply amazing. Horrifying, shocking, bloody, and it wouldn't stop.

I'll never be the same...

Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 2(2004)

Best of the three. Doc Oc is the greatest villian of all time.

The Wizard of Oz

We're not in Kansas anymore..

The Last Samurai

Tom Cruise has the acting capacity of celery.

Alien Resurrection

Series hit it's low point here... actually no, that was Alien Vs. Predator

Hot Fuzz
Hot Fuzz(2007)

It started out slow... but quickly got awesome, so awesome in fact, that it soon became better than Shawn of the Dead.

Oh. Decaffienation?

Awesome effects, silly dialogue, bad script, plot holes throughout... but the effects were awesome right? A true Micheal Bay film... and probably more historically accurate than Bay's Pearl Harbour... ;)

Simply stunning. I suggest watching the French version with english subtitles to really appreciate it.

Live Free or Die Hard

The story was shit but the action was non-stop and didn't slow down for anybody!

The Incredibles

A huge accomplishment in animated films.

A Cinderella Story

Can't believe I watched it, but not terrible.

Mean Girls
Mean Girls(2004)

Best teen comedy of all time. Hands down. Tina Fey is ridiculous.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith

The ending killed it for me.

Wedding Crashers

Funny AND boobs? What could go wrong. :P

The Ring
The Ring(2002)

Excellent horror movie! Classic.

War of the Worlds

So good the first time! Then... kinda lame.

Shrek 2
Shrek 2(2004)

The best in the series.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End

So long and hard to follow. Some scenes are great and others drag on forever.

I thought it was over after the first 90 minutes. Wish it had been.

28 Days Later

My absolute favorite horror movie of all time.
