Another side to Bunuel, which makes his religious criticism all the more fascinating. Brilliant.
It's a total mess, but it looks nice. Confusing, but not boring. I don't exactly regret watching it, but it could have done with an actual plot, not to mention a bigger budget. Strange how the time zips by, though. Melanie Thierry totally steals the film. It just seems like a series of sketches of an outline of a better movie that's buried in it somewhere.
Surely the greatest movie ever made. The title alone is worth a million bucks. It makes "2001" look like "Cat Women of the Moon". No, but seriously it's a good laugh and the premise is handled as clumsily as you'd expect which makes it all the better. Wasssssp Womaaaaan!!!
Randomly found on youtube, and what a find. Classic noir that's a lot of fun to watch, especially for the ruthless Lizabeth Scott as the femme fatale. It's on the cheap side, some of the cuts in scenes early on are draw-droppingly bad but thankfully this amateurishness melts away after the first half. Dan Duryea plays the private dick type character but Don DeFore is actually loads better as the criminal whose bungling caused the whole affair. In fact he's probably the best actor in the whole film. Good stuff.
