Brad's Review of V/H/S
My initial reaction is that the movie is only ok. I'm going to think about it more, but I don't think it lived up to the hype. I found the wrap around to be below average as it was hard to tell what was going on most of the time, story wise. The segments range from pretty good to down right bad. I thought AMATEUR NIGHT had a good payoff, but the story was not good. I didn't care about any of the characters. The reveal of what it was was pretty good. SECOND HONEYMOON was probably my favorite one, but the ending felt rushed and came from nowhere. TUESDAY THE 17th had a great idea, but the acting kept if from being really memorable. THE STRANGE THING THAT HAPPENED TO EMILY WHEN SHE WAS YOUNG left far too many questions unanswered. Once again, the ending left a lot to be desired. It had great atmosphere and could have been great, but it just seems to change gears at the end and felt like a let down. 10/31/98 wasn't bad, but the payoff was laughable and the CGI was totally awful and took me out of it.
